Avon Reach is situated in the heart of Mudeford in Dorset. It is within walking distance of the famous Mudeford Quay with its seafaring history.

Residents enjoy companionship and can join in with singing, music, exercise and arts and crafts sessions. There is the opportunity for gentle gardening activities in the summer sunshine, and there is a busy pen pal scheme.
The home is registered for nursing care and staffed by dedicated nurses and health care professionals with extensive experience in caring for age-related conditions and fully trained in infection control.

It is within easy reach of the New Forest, while local shops and amenities are also easily accessible.

From the spacious reception and seating area, residents can greet friends or simply watch the world go by. This leads to the dining room with French windows opening onto the patio and garden area beyond.

The main lounge on the ground floor is equipped with a large-screen television. There is a kitchenette where residents or visitors can make their own drinks. An additional lounge and quiet room are provided on the first floor. The second-floor lounge enjoys views of the sea.

Avon Reach has its own library and a selection of specialist bathrooms including hydrotherapy bath.

My mother and I were supported by staff nurses who were so kind, empathetic and gentle when discussing advanced care planning. Their professionalism and honesty was significant for me as I was overwhelmed when discussing Mum's future wishes despite understanding that this is a crucial decision to have.
Mum now has control and I have reassurance that her wishes will be respected.

Avon Reach Care Home is amazing! Mum moved in for respite care in April 2024 and is happy to stay permanently as a result of the wonderful, supportive and positive atmosphere that runs all through all aspects of the home. Mum is the happiest I have seen her for a good six months. Our family has been
so kindly supported through a traumatic time, and we are so happy that Mum is content and settling in.

Both of my parents were together there for almost a year. I found Avon Reach excellent. The manager was approachable. Staff work as a team, they are all caring, treated Mum and Dad with dignity and respect and the nurses, in particular, were very efficient and kind and communicated very well and were
knowledgeable. It was a shame the clinical leads changed a lot. The food, catering staff and laundry were so kind and the receptionists were excellent. Avon Reach felt like family and I miss them. Just one concern, there were a lot of new health care assistant staff all at once during the year and that was unsettling for Mum and Dad.

Avon Reach is a modern care and nursing home run by Colten Care. It is well maintained with attractive pleasant surroundings. My wife spent 6 weeks in the home for respite care while I had a planned medical procedure and recovery. She suffers from loss of mobility, speech impairment, and tremors in
both arms following a stroke, covid, and neurological problems. She was well looked after and cared for by the nursing and domiciliary staff despite her communication problems. Should the need arise for my wife to receive care again I would have no hesitation in returning her to Avon Reach Care and Nursing Home.

In my view, all the staff at Avon Reach were attentive, professional and compassionate. The home is always very clean and well-maintained and all levels of staff were friendly and competent. The nursing staff, in particular, seemed well-informed and always tried to provide a good service. When my mother
passed away in the home, they were compassionate and treated her with great respect. The only issues seemed to be with the responsiveness of the GP surgery but the Avon Reach staff tried hard to get a prompt and thorough responses from them. The food quality and choices were excellent and I know the pre-dinner drinks were always enjoyed. There were thoughtful excursions and well-prepared and presented activities on a regular basis.

On discharge from hospital, my father went into Avon Reach for support. The care Dad received was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff. Sadly he passed away with me at his side and the staff were excellent. I would certainly recommend to anyone wanting excellent care in the

Mum was very happy during her stay at Avon Reach, this was despite her being a very independent lady who had always looked after herself and her home very well. The staff were always very caring, warm and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. The whole atmosphere was homely, clean and cheerful. As
you approached the front door, there wasn't the nursing home smell some other homes have. Everywhere smelt pleasant. Mum always likes the food which we sampled for her birthday - excellent!

My aunt was 101 years old, she required end-of-life nursing care. I know from previous experience that Avon Reach would provide it in the way that she and I would wish it. My aunt died yesterday, having received care as a resident for almost 8 months. During that time she received nothing but loving
kindness and understanding. She was not an easy patient, having been a matron herself, but the nurses, the carers, the activities organisers, the kitchen staff, the cleaners, the laundry persons, the admin staff, all were superb.

I came to Avon Reach after a month in hospital for respite care to get my 98-year-old body fit again. Whilst spending seven weeks here, I was met with nothing but kindness right across the board. As I slowly got fitter, I enjoyed the many activities provided and even began to learn Spanish. I was treated
