Westbourne Tower, a premium provider of dementia care, nursing care and residential care, is ideally situated within easy access to the centre of Bournemouth.

Fantastic Care Home - everyone is extremely friendly, excellent care from Carers, Nurses & Staff. Very comfortable surroundings. We can visit Mum whenever we want. The residents all look happy and a very good activity programme daily.

I cannot fault the care given by Sunrise. I never go there to visit without someone coming in to check that everything is alright and to see if we need anything or any help. If I pass a carer in the corridor (and it is hard not to because there are so many!) I am always spoken to and given a friendly
smile. It is not always easy to deal with residents who may be distressed or disorientated, but the carers at Sunrise seem to have an endless capacity for patience and humour for all the family.

Generally Sunrise is a caring home. Some residents are much favoured and made a fuss of but not me. I think it is not me- I have done everything "by the book". Lots of times I appear to be ignorant. I like Sunrise the environment, the residents and most of the staff but there are staff who fuss over
some residents as a matter of course.

My mother was in the home four years ago, the care here was excellent then, now my husband is here, and has been here 1 year and 3 months and the standard is still as excellent as it was four years ago. He elected to stay here because he thought it was so wonderful. One of his favourite things is going
out on the mini bus 3 times a week.

I would give 85%, losing points for a lot of favouritism with staff and some of the residents and some meals are repeated too often, otherwise I am very happy here and I would certainly recommend it.

Care for mum I feel has been mixed. I feel that to start with she struggled to settle in, I think she needed more 1 to 1 care as the home is very large and with her dementia she felt very lost. She came from a flat to an enormous over whelming residential home. Perhaps a settling in period as a day
visitor for a 2 week period would have helped.
Giving her a buddy or helper for her first few days to help her settle in would have been helpful to her as well. She wandered around and would not sit down due to being scared and cried a lot due to not understanding where she was, or why she was there, not knowing any of the residents or staff made it a massive move for mum and not being in her own home with all the familiarity that goes with that I think accelerated her dementia.
As time has gone on she is settling better knows more of the carers and has favorite ones which is nice for her.
She still wanders I feel that walks outside just round the gardens once a day for 10 mins would settle her a little, as she has always been a great walker and now feels restricted.
I believe her dementia has worsened since going into the home and her appetite has also got worse. Her contentment level has gone up and she cries less now than she did when she was at home on her own with carers going in on a regular basis.
So she is happier now but still unsettled and wanders but she rarely cries in front of me which makes my visits a joy as I love to see her smile.

My mother has been a resident here for seven and a half years. Overall I am satisfied with her care but there have been occasions I've had to complain about the state of her room re cleanliness, which were resolved. On a more serious note, I had to battle for many weeks to get bed rails put on her bed
to ensure her safety having had several falls out of bed. This almost resulted in moving my other out. Sadly over the seven years the level of staffing seems to have been reduced resulting in my opinion of staff not having the time to carry out duties also change in management recently has not been good with little or no interaction with family members. Overall feeling the home is not as good as it was.

Having been in a previous care home it is like moving into the Ritz from the work home. Being almost blind, whilst I can see little of my environment, I feel safe and help is never further than a request away. The food is fantastic and being blind is always presented so I am able to eat it. Not being
able to see myself my friends always tell me I look smart and dressed in coordinated outfits. Being blind my friend has helped me fill out this form.

I transferred my father from another care home and he was immediately much happier and more relaxed at Sunrise. He has been very well looked after. He can do very little now as he is 96, but entertainment is provided for him everyday in the way of live music and various singers. He is also taken out
on little trips although I am not sure how often. I am very happy with this home and I don't feel I have to worry.

I have lived at Sunrise Westbourne for the past 6 1/2 years. I have been very happy here. The premises are very clean and bright. the staff are very kind and helpful. The food is very good with plenty of choice. The property is well maintained and refurbishing is ongoing.

I take my mum to Sunrise approximately two mornings every month. They have many activities for residents and some are available to non-residents. As my ratings show below I would be very happy if I put my mum into residential care at Sunrise. Despite having three types of dementia she always recognises
it as the nice place just from the pavement.

My mother's stay at Sunrise was, sadly, very short. The staff got to know her name very quickly and all gave her exemplary care. The staff were also very caring towards my father and other family members at a time of anxiety and impending loss, nothing was too much trouble and we received kindness and
compassion from everyone.
I have been a GP and Hospice doctor for many years and the end of life care given to my mother could not have been bettered. Thank you all.

My grandfather moved from Kent to Westbourne as you can appreciate this is quite a distance away. The transition from Kent to Sunrise of Westbourne was very daunting for my grandfather however the staff were very friendly and efficient which made the process very easy. Since my grandfather has been
in Sunrise of Westbourne this care has continued. I would recommend friends and family to this nursing home, I can't thank the nursing home enough for everything they have done.

After several weeks in hospital my husband required full time care and I was faced with finding him suitable accommodation. Sunrise of Westbourne was the first care home I visited. I arrived unannounced and was immediately struck by the warm and friendly atmosphere and by how welcome I was made to feel.
The staff on the reminiscence floor are unfailingly kind and patient and he receives the highest standard of care and respect. Many thanks to everyone for making a traumatic move as smooth and pain free as possible for us both.

I have been here since it opened in 2006. I can’t believe how time has flown by. Although I already had the skill set I was working as a Bank Chef alongside my own business and was asked to take on the managerial role which was an easy transition. I trained and worked in London, Morocco, France and Italy before returning to the UK and settling in Bournemouth. My food specialities are multicultural and the residents love it when I do theme days. I have been a major part of this home being awarded CQC Outstanding, the CQC assessor loved my secret ingredient “ a bit of love”. I run a monthly Dining Committee where residents can influence what is on the menu, likes and dislikes and I love nothing more than walking around the dining room on a daily basis to ensure their wishes have been followed. I like to surprise residents with their favourite dishes, for special occasions. I have to say I love my job and my residents make me smile every day. I am proud to say I work here.
