It is not an easy decision to move your husband to a care home after 58 happy years of marriage but on the advice of my family and medical staff, we both decided it was the best plan.
I looked around many homes and Westbourne Tower was the first. The others had a lot to live up to because I immediately liked the smell, feel, cleanliness and welcome from all the staff. The home is spacious and at last, my husband is eating food! It must be good because his appetite for the last year has been very poor and he lost weight. He has at last gained it. Non-alcoholic wine is a lovely idea.
The staff are friendly and helpful at all times. Unfortunately, skeleton staff have been on recently at breakfast and this disturbs my husband because he always likes punctuality and efficiency ... not that he is in a rush to go anywhere but he likes good organisation.
It is lovely to see appropriate arrangements for topical happenings in the foyer and be able to have a coffee and snack.

Thank you to you all.

Thank you for trusting us with this lovely man. I know it was a hard decision, but I am happy you made it. The dining staff work hard to try and cater for every taste, so lovely that you both appreciate that.

Westbourne Towers always feels warm and homely, quiet and staff super friendly. Clients/residents will appear very happy. The facilities are excellent, hotel standard! In fact, it looks like a hotel. The food and dining room are excellent and I love the little cafe area as you enter, so lovely to have a piano there in the entrance too. The range of activities are so varied and plentiful. The gardens are beautiful. Overall a very happy place to come to and probably live.

A very difficult time putting Mum and Dad into a care home but as soon as we walked into Westbourne Tower we felt happy and were doing the right thing. They helped with a lot of questions we had. The staff are all super friendly, professional and helpful. Now Mum and Dad are settled they are really happy. There's always something going on, plus minibus trips out. You can do as much or as little as you like. It is lovely and clean and the coffee shop area is great. A lovely place.

Her stay was amazing from the first day to her last day! The care staff were exceptional, attentive and sincere delivering wonderful care. All the activities are very inclusive and fun from the Boules to the sing-alongs. The cafe is a lovely area and the cakes are fresh and beautiful. We felt part of the social group, making friends along the way. We could not fault our experience! The food was excellent too. The Avery daily newsletter each day is an education!

Have been coming on a day care basis for over a year now with dementia client - whole place is very friendly and staff are very receptive and helpful. Many activities and entertainments are held here on a daily basis which all the residents seem to enjoy very much. 10/10 for a great care home.

We have been so moved by the excellent care and kindness shown to our mother who has vascular dementia.
Not only have the staff cared for Mother they have also supported us as Mum's health declines.
It has been such a sad time but the staff have been amazing.

We are so grateful to all of them!

My step-father moved in last August after recovering from cancer, feeling low and having lost weight he quickly cheered up gained weight and was made to feel very welcome.

The support given was excellent all his medical needs were taken care of and the room was perfect for his needs. He was encouraged to be involved with all the activities/trips, he quickly made friends with other residents and staff. He is now very happy and content and very grateful for all the care and support he has received.

Mum has been a resident at Avery for the last 18 months. She has benefited hugely from the environment. It gives her comfort, security, caring staff, good food (and drink!) regular and varied social activities. Regular input from the local GP surgery has addressed health issues promptly. As a family we have seen Mum flourish as she enters her 90s. We have nothing but praise for her care.

My mother has been at Westbourne now for a year and a half, having been at another care home for 7 years, but had to move due to some building issues which resulted in temporary closure. All I can say is, I wish I had found Westbourne all those years ago! My mother has fairly complex requirements and the team on the reminiscence floor treat her as an individual with the utmost respect, gentleness, patience and humour. Mum has genuinely thrived at Westbourne! I cannot speak highly enough of the team who come in every day to do their best work with our loved ones.

My father has received excellent care since moving to Westbourne Towers. The staff is all extremely caring, thoughtful and professional. The facilities are excellent and the activity programme is very extensive with regular trips out on offer and a full day of entertainment to take advantage of. The music in the evenings is particularly wonderful and quite unique compared to other care homes I have seen. The home always has a buzz about it and feels like a warm and happy place.

Dad has lived at Westbourne Tower for over six years and regards it as his home. The staff are highly professional and also very kind and have been wonderful in supporting and caring for him as his dementia progresses. We recently celebrated his 100th birthday, with a lovely afternoon tea party and a spectacular cake! He is so happy living there and his family is so grateful that we never have to worry about how he's being cared for.

I have been here since it opened in 2006. I can’t believe how time has flown by. Although I already had the skill set I was working as a Bank Chef alongside my own business and was asked to take on the managerial role which was an easy transition. I trained and worked in London, Morocco, France and Italy before returning to the UK and settling in Bournemouth. My food specialities are multicultural and the residents love it when I do theme days. I have been a major part of this home being awarded CQC Outstanding, the CQC assessor loved my secret ingredient “ a bit of love”. I run a monthly Dining Committee where residents can influence what is on the menu, likes and dislikes and I love nothing more than walking around the dining room on a daily basis to ensure their wishes have been followed. I like to surprise residents with their favourite dishes, for special occasions. I have to say I love my job and my residents make me smile every day. I am proud to say I work here.

I am delighted to have been recently appointed for this important role, in delivering a varied, stimulating and educational programme for our residents. I like to think outside the box and ongoing feedback from our residents, it enables my talented activity team to deliver, along with our team of amazing volunteers. I bring to the role my experience of managing teams, Interior Design, Floristry, Art, and Teaching and I even played table tennis for Wales! I am inspired by talking to our residents and finding out what they enjoy and what makes them smile, whether that's an entertainer, Tai Chi, Music Therapy, Camera or Theatre Club or 1 to 1 person-centred activities. 110% is put into everything we do here.

I have worked here since 2006, and the things that have remained constant throughout that time are the love, dedication and unfaltering kindness my colleagues deliver every day. No two days are the same; there is always something going on which makes you smile and our residents become part of our extended family. We are committed to filling their days with happy moments.

My role is to market our home and welcome new residents into it, dealing with professionals and family members. Making a significant decision at a critical time is made easy when we have a beautiful product, lovely food, a great activities programme (including minibus outings) and caring staff, all coupled with happy appreciative residents and family members, this is borne out by our positive carehome.co.uk reviews.
