This care home is the most wonderful place you could hope for, the staff are incredible they take care of the residents and their relatives in every way. I don't usually write reviews but felt like I had to after visiting my uncle here at Southbourne. I have got to say what a lovely place; everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. My uncle loves the newly refurbished room and he's made it like home from home - I'd be happy to stay here!

We feel we were meant to be at Southbourne Beach Care Home, so many things have fallen into place since coming here. Particularly the Christian Heritage and my welcome in being able to make the most of my piano playing at the weekly concert and Christian Services. The accommodation and the ambience are first class as in the care and activities. We love the Bistro facility, so good for entertaining family and friends when they come. We like the involvement of bringing in outside organisations.

The home is a delight to be in. clean, hygienic, tidy and well-organised. The staff do their very best every day. Mum is on the 2nd floor, with increasing dementia it helps that she is a happy soul but I always find her happy, well cared for and peaceful. It's a blessed feeling because she lives quite away from me now but the phone is a godsend and I'm able to speak with her at any time.
Many thanks for your review. We are delighted that you feel your Mother is very happy here and that staff are supportive. We take great pride in delivering exceptional care and providing high-quality facilities to our residents. With regards to your concerns about room and fees, please do contact me, and we can discuss how we can help.
I looked at several places before opting for Avery Southbourne - it was the open, vibrant atmosphere and spacious surroundings that sold it to me initially. The staff have been absolutely fantastic in welcoming my parents and understanding their needs and vulnerability to personalise their stay - I genuinely couldn't have wished for better for them (or me).
The freedom for me to come and go as I wish and their ability to retain some independence there is also a major factor and I've loved visiting and getting to know other residents and the staff. Everyone has time for you and nothing is too much trouble. My folks want to come back again later in the year - when I go on holiday - peace of mind for all of us.

My nan stayed here for a respite stay and had a wonderful experience meeting new friends and joining in with various activities. We cannot recommend this home highly enough. Staff are polite and helpful and make you welcome from the moment you walk through the door.

Early days but all good. Enjoy daily walks and a variety of activities. The food is good on the whole and the staff most helpful.

My brother has been a resident at Southbourne Beach for just over two months. The care and support have been exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble and this shows in the teamwork of all the staff. The food is excellent quality with my brother's vegetarian needs catered for. It's like a five-star hotel and I would recommend this establishment to all.

It's like a cross between a 5-star hotel and a cruise ship. A lovely care home, very clean. Residents are very well cared for.

This wonderful care home went over and above in giving my mother and family a day to remember to celebrate her 100th birthday. Their care and attention to my mother’s needs are exceptional and are appreciated by all her family.

Carers were always busy but always had time for our friend, especially as she could be awkward and demanding. We ate in the restaurant with her a few times and the food and service were excellent. The atmosphere was always happy and the entertainment was enjoyable. We struck up a really good rapport with a particular member of staff as she was excellent with our friend.

From the initial visit prior to coming to live at Sourthbourne Beach until the final breath my friend had it was first-class care from all the friendly care staff. Attention to detail from the laundry to the presentation of meals and the quality of food was excellent. The atmosphere was one of happiness and inclusion. The entertainment staff were really jolly and were genuinely pleased when people joined in. The welcome we got when we visited was something we shall miss.

A wonderful home, more like living in a hotel than a care home. Always activities happening and the food is excellent. For me, the thing that makes Southbourne special is the staff. From front of house, carers, management to the maintenance crew, everyone is friendly, helpful and lovely to Mum and us!

My friend lives in this home. She loves living here. Whenever I visit I'm amazed at how lovely everyone is and how well cared for she is. I recently had a really tasty lunch with her and was so pleased with the atmosphere. It is really homely and spotless too. It is clearly a well loved and looked after home.

The home has a lovely atmosphere, and all the staff were very friendly. I've never seen my friend so happy. She's even had her hair done!
I would definitely recommend this home to my mum or anyone who's looking for a care home.

I have been a resident of this building since June 2014. I came in with a life annuity, as I have no living relative, and I am now 96 years old. I have found all the transfers from previous companies now to Avery very worrying and confusing. I still believe a retirement home as a care home is a good idea for us, we humans live longer through medical progression, the more they will become a necessity in our lives. I personally have a very nice suite of rooms that I have made my home.
Many thanks for your review. We are delighted that you are enjoying your stay at Southbourne Beach Care Home. We take great pride in delivering exceptional care and providing high-quality facilities to our residents. With regards to your concerns around the transition to a new provider, please do contact us, and we can discuss how we can help.

Meet the Team (6)

I have worked in the care sector for over 12 years now, joining Southbourne Beach in 2023. My journey in care began as a care assistant, this was a role I truly loved and quickly realised that the care sector was where I was meant to be. My passion for delivering high-quality care developed from my personal experiences of caring for family members and continues to grow, surrounded by compassionate and selfless colleagues. I have been fortunate enough to achieve further training and qualifications, allowing me to progress into managerial positions.
I have lived in the Dorset area for most of my life and I love being part of my local community with our residents and staff. I am incredibly proud to lead a special team at Southbourne Beach, where the needs of our residents are always the number one priority. Outside of my work, I enjoy regular exercise, travelling, sports and always seeking new experiences.

I have been part of this family since 2010. Caring is one of my passions in life and having a care background is a great addition to my role as it involves supporting all new prospective residents and their families through sometimes difficult, stressful and emotional decisions. My role is supported by a dedicated team who are passionate about delivering exceptional person-centred care. Nothing is more rewarding than making a positive contribution to the daily lives of each and every one of our residents.

I joined towards the end of 2020 and really enjoy my role here – it is very diversified and no two days are the same. Prior to joining I worked as a Senior Administrator in another nursing home and have a long history of PA and administration work. I really enjoy meeting the residents and their families and getting to know everyone.
On a personal note, I have lived in Christchurch for the past 20 years and continue to do so with my husband and two children. We love walking along the beach and visiting the local cafes for coffee and a naughty treat.

I have worked in dementia care for 16 years now, it has always been my passion, and I find it very rewarding.
As Dementia Care Manager it is my aim to ensure those living with dementia can live as independently as possible and experience high standards of daily living. I have a great team working alongside me to ensure that we achieve positive changes and continue improving our care delivery.

I started working here as a Catering Assistant in 2007. Since then I have taken on new tasks and responsibilities which lead to being promoted to the current position of Dining Services Coordinator. I am responsible for all aspects of delivering nutritionally balanced meals, including special diets and dietary needs. It is very rewarding to see residents having a great dining experience, from the meal they have to the service they receive in a restaurant-style dining room. It motivates me and my fantastic team to provide the best possible service for them every day.

Having studied and worked in performing arts for 15 years in London, I also gained experience in the hospitality industry organising events in Mayfair before moving to Bournemouth to work in sales and team management. For 3 years I worked in domiciliary optical care travelling around care homes on the south coast. This taught me a better understanding in dementia and vulnerable people. I joined the Concierge team in 2013 and worked my way up to lead concierge.
I love my job, the staff and all the characters we here (including the pets). I now look after a team of 7 concierges at Southbourne. Never a dull moment, we are the eyes, ears and heart of the community. The relationships I build with the residents and families are so special and I value listening and trying to solve any request or concerns they may have.
