Southbourne Beach is located a short walk from the sea front and its excellent beaches, perfect for a refreshing walk or for some fresh sea air. The home attracts residents and their families from all over the wider Dorset area, including Christchurch, Ringwood and the New Forest. The home offers high quality care including both residential and dementia care as well as shorter respite stays. The care home has 104 beds over three floors.

The location of this home is a short drive to Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Bournemouth airport and easy reach of both the Saxon and Sovereign shopping centres. Close to Bournemouth centre, with its eclectic mix of culture and entertainment, road and rail links are excellent for visiting family and friends.

My mother lived at Southbourne Beach from 2017 to 2023. The care she received was exemplary from all departments. She was always encouraged to join in activities, which she enjoyed a great deal. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff. They always kept the family updated on any health issues.
They respected our visits and enabled my mother to die peacefully in her own bed, with her family with her to the end. We will always be grateful to our second family at Southbourne Beach for everything they did throughout her life there.

Dad was here for just over four years and recently passed away peacefully after coming home from the hospital for a week of palliative care. All the staff here were so kind and caring and genuinely fond of Dad. They made his last days as comfortable as they possibly could, and for that, I will be forever
grateful. So many residents and staff have come up to me to tell me their memories of Dad, how he always remembered everyone’s names and how his little ways made them smile. Thank you, everyone, for looking after him.

The care provided to my 100-year-old father was exemplary. The care systems, including records kept, were impressive, and an excellent balance was struck between intervention and allowing independence. The excellent standard of care extended from relative independence through significant dependence
to end of life. My father was always treated with dignity and great sensitivity to his feelings, as well as his needs.

My mum came into Signature at Southbourne for a period of respite whilst we were away on holiday. Mum was looked after really well and commented to me afterwards how nice the staff were and how good the food was. She enjoyed all the activities that were put on for the residents and enjoyed getting her
hair done whilst she was there. She is looking forward to coming in again for another stay in the near future.

It's hard to sum up the experience of finding the right 'home from home' for your parents when they have lived independently for so long, but due to their needs changing, it becomes necessary. There are so many considerations, emotions and decisions that come into play, and at times, as a family, we
truly believed we might not find the answer. That was until my brother discovered Signature at Southbourne! Not only did we fall in love with the location and the beautiful home inside and out, but it had a sense of 'home' from the first time we walked inside. This is what my parents needed so much - their own individual living space, but with the beautiful communal areas it offers, the delightful restaurant/bistro and parlour. The staff have, in a relatively short space of time, got to know and understand my parents really well. Their likes, their dislikes, their way of living - and have encouraged wholeheartedly their involvement. Well done, and thank you, we're so grateful.

Home-from-home! Finding a new permanent home for our precious parents was the highest priority for me and my siblings in 2022. We are delighted that after reviewing over ten homes, a respite holiday and a move from the midlands where they'd been for over 50 years, we are able to say job done! One lady
has been fantastic throughout managing the liaison and really caring for our parent's needs. Signature at Southbourne stood out for us because it enables Mum and Dad to continue having independence in their own apartment, in a beautiful location and surrounded by the care that is on hand to support all their needs. When we first visited Signature, we thought we had entered a luxury cruise ship, and that remains our view! The food is second to none, the activities are great, and my dad regularly plays the piano - a joy that he had lost! We now rest in peace knowing they are safe and happy, and we love visiting them, including sharing meals with them in the private dining area and lattes in the Bistro! We recommend it unreservedly!

28 days of really pleasant care in a spacious suite with our little dog. Brilliant staff helping with showering and dressing, serving good wholesome meals in a lovely dining room. We were very comfortable, well looked after and felt the benefits by the middle of our stay. Would recommend Signature highly

The ethos of Signature at Southbourne, which combines excellent care and support whilst keeping the dignity of the resident paramount, is extremely important to my father and his family. First impressions at our first meeting with extremely professional and knowledgeable staff were of a light, airy,
spacious, purpose-built facility with the air of a luxury hotel! Over time, these first impressions have developed into a deep rapport between the management and staff, who are so dedicated. I am so glad my father is in your care.

Dad initially moved in for respite care while his main carer (his wife) was in the hospital. Sadly after a week at Signature, Mum passed away. The staff at Signature could not have been more helpful and supportive at such a difficult time. Signature has helped Dad and the whole family in such a genuine,
caring way. Een before the bereavement, Signature felt like Dad's home. It is such a wonderful place, mainly due to all the staff who really go out of their way to help.

My mother was very apprehensive about going into any care home, but the staff at Signature at Southbourne made her very welcome and comfortable. Since then, my mother has told me how much she enjoys the catering, the friendliness of the staff and the homeliness and comfort in the care home. I was anxious

Mum has always refused care of any kind but went into Signature initially for four weeks respite following time in hospital. It was challenging to get her settled, but she is now staying long term. Staff go above and beyond to get to know residents and families and price a "personal touch"! The standard
of care is exceptional, nothing is too much trouble, and there is a positive, happy atmosphere.

My mother came to Signature at Southbourne initially for respite care. She settled in so well and enjoyed the care and support, and best of all, the intervention of all the staff that we all decided that this would make the best home for her.

I have made good friends and get excellent meals.
I have a pleasant room and bathroom ensuite.

I have worked in the care sector for over 12 years now, joining Southbourne Beach in 2023. My journey in care began as a care assistant, this was a role I truly loved and quickly realised that the care sector was where I was meant to be. My passion for delivering high-quality care developed from my personal experiences of caring for family members and continues to grow, surrounded by compassionate and selfless colleagues. I have been fortunate enough to achieve further training and qualifications, allowing me to progress into managerial positions.


I have lived in the Dorset area for most of my life and I love being part of my local community with our residents and staff. I am incredibly proud to lead a special team at Southbourne Beach, where the needs of our residents are always the number one priority. Outside of my work, I enjoy regular exercise, travelling, sports and always seeking new experiences.

I joined towards the end of 2020 and really enjoy my role here – it is very diversified and no two days are the same. Prior to joining I worked as a Senior Administrator in another nursing home and have a long history of PA and administration work. I really enjoy meeting the residents and their families and getting to know everyone.


On a personal note, I have lived in Christchurch for the past 20 years and continue to do so with my husband and two children. We love walking along the beach and visiting the local cafes for coffee and a naughty treat.

I have worked in dementia care for 16 years now, it has always been my passion, and I find it very rewarding.


As Dementia Care Manager it is my aim to ensure those living with dementia can live as independently as possible and experience high standards of daily living. I have a great team working alongside me to ensure that we achieve positive changes and continue improving our care delivery.

Job Title: Dining Services Coordinator

I started working here as a Catering Assistant in 2007. Since then I have taken on new tasks and responsibilities which lead to being promoted to the current position of Dining Services Coordinator. I am responsible for all aspects of delivering nutritionally balanced meals, including special diets and dietary needs. It is very rewarding to see residents having a great dining experience, from the meal they have to the service they receive in a restaurant-style dining room. It motivates me and my fantastic team to provide the best possible service for them every day.

Job Title: Lead Concierge

Having studied and worked in performing arts for 15 years in London, I also gained experience in the hospitality industry organising events in Mayfair before moving to Bournemouth to work in sales and team management. For 3 years I worked in domiciliary optical care travelling around care homes on the south coast. This taught me a better understanding in dementia and vulnerable people. I joined the Concierge team in 2013 and worked my way up to lead concierge.


I love my job, the staff and all the characters we here (including the pets). I now look after a team of 7 concierges at Southbourne. Never a dull moment, we are the eyes, ears and heart of the community. The relationships I build with the residents and families are so special and I value listening and trying to solve any request or concerns they may have.
