Southbourne Beach is located a short walk from the sea front and its excellent beaches, perfect for a refreshing walk or for some fresh sea air. The home attracts residents and their families from all over the wider Dorset area, including Christchurch, Ringwood and the New Forest. The home offers high quality care including both residential and dementia care as well as shorter respite stays. The care home has 104 beds over three floors.

The location of this home is a short drive to Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Bournemouth airport and easy reach of both the Saxon and Sovereign shopping centres. Close to Bournemouth centre, with its eclectic mix of culture and entertainment, road and rail links are excellent for visiting family and friends.

My mother had a month’s respite stay to recuperate following a spell in hospital. I was so impressed by staff dedication, caring, compassion and the level of respect afforded to residents. The ambience is that of a good quality hotel, which is exactly what I wanted for my mother. I didn’t want her to
constantly be reminded that it was essentially a care home. The vibe is one of positivity and of looking forward to opportunities. Daily programmes of interesting activities enhance this feeling. They even took my mother out, as a passenger, on an electric bike, which she loved. She thoroughly enjoyed the food too (hotel quality and choice). The location is marvellous as it’s one road away from the seafront. Importantly, my mum made some lovely friends whom she won’t forget. All in all, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sunrise of Southbourne, especially if you want the best of the best for your relative.

I had to find a care home quickly for my mother as she had suffered a stroke and after a month in hospital, she had to leave as they needed the bed. Sunrise Southbourne were very helpful, friendly, and efficient. The care she received there was amazing.
All the staff couldn't do enough to make not
only my mother feel welcome, but my sister and I too when we visited.

I came into Sunrise for respite care with a view to permanent residency and I am pleased to say that I have decided to come back as a full-time resident once I have sold my house. As I am fully able-bodied I have not needed much care and have been able to go out for walks. I cannot speak highly enough
of the food - it really is excellent! The staff do all they can to give as much freedom as possible within the Covid restrictions. Sincere thanks to everyone and see you soon!

Although this has been my first possible visit, due to visitor room constructions and Covid restrictions within the home this year, I have found the staff helpful by phone and have had good communication from staff in the form of newsletters, with photos added and information electronically. I have

This is my second visit and I returned because you looked after me so well. I didn't need to worry about remembering when and how much medication I needed to take. My daily needs were and are always done with a cheery comment from every staff member. I have a lovely, airy room. I enjoy the various activities
I have been doing. I have no favourites, but the 'mind gym' activity is enjoyed by up to eighteen of us. It is for the simple reason - it is one of the best.

My Dad entered Sunrise of Southbourne at the beginning of 2020 for respite care under rather stressful circumstances and at very short notice. Despite this, we were quickly reassured that this was the right place for him to be and eight months later he has settled in well and sees it as his home. I
was pleased to find Dad's room was labelled with a brass plaque with his name on it! It's a small thing but it seems to me to signal the respect with which Sunrise treat their residents.

I have been very impressed at how the home has kept their residents and staff all Covid-free without disrupting the lives of their residents too much. The routines have continued much as normal and staff have continued with as many activities as is possible without their usual outside contributors and
visitors. They were very quick off the mark with their lockdown, way before the government announcement. They have been very scrupulous with their health and safety and had all their PPE ready for use. Inevitably residents have had to go to the hospital for one reason or another and their return has been handled very safely and efficiently.
I appreciate everything everyone is doing there to keep my Mum safe, well and happy. Thank you All.

Early from January, a good mix of left to myself and a push in a good direction. More information would include a handbook for your room. Also a hotel information room for hotel and locality information. As I found my way around there. More information on more activities. It was sometimes sloppy in

I have been here at Sunrise of Southbourne for 18 months. My first and up to today impression of the friendly kind staff and members of management I have had dealings with have also been kind. My one complaint is of the shortage of staff, particularly at night. I understand this is being readdressed.
The daily activities programme is excellent, something for everyone and no one is forced into doing anything.

I have worked in the care sector for over 12 years now, joining Southbourne Beach in 2023. My journey in care began as a care assistant, this was a role I truly loved and quickly realised that the care sector was where I was meant to be. My passion for delivering high-quality care developed from my personal experiences of caring for family members and continues to grow, surrounded by compassionate and selfless colleagues. I have been fortunate enough to achieve further training and qualifications, allowing me to progress into managerial positions.


I have lived in the Dorset area for most of my life and I love being part of my local community with our residents and staff. I am incredibly proud to lead a special team at Southbourne Beach, where the needs of our residents are always the number one priority. Outside of my work, I enjoy regular exercise, travelling, sports and always seeking new experiences.

I joined towards the end of 2020 and really enjoy my role here – it is very diversified and no two days are the same. Prior to joining I worked as a Senior Administrator in another nursing home and have a long history of PA and administration work. I really enjoy meeting the residents and their families and getting to know everyone.


On a personal note, I have lived in Christchurch for the past 20 years and continue to do so with my husband and two children. We love walking along the beach and visiting the local cafes for coffee and a naughty treat.

I have worked in dementia care for 16 years now, it has always been my passion, and I find it very rewarding.


As Dementia Care Manager it is my aim to ensure those living with dementia can live as independently as possible and experience high standards of daily living. I have a great team working alongside me to ensure that we achieve positive changes and continue improving our care delivery.

Job Title: Dining Services Coordinator

I started working here as a Catering Assistant in 2007. Since then I have taken on new tasks and responsibilities which lead to being promoted to the current position of Dining Services Coordinator. I am responsible for all aspects of delivering nutritionally balanced meals, including special diets and dietary needs. It is very rewarding to see residents having a great dining experience, from the meal they have to the service they receive in a restaurant-style dining room. It motivates me and my fantastic team to provide the best possible service for them every day.

Job Title: Lead Concierge

Having studied and worked in performing arts for 15 years in London, I also gained experience in the hospitality industry organising events in Mayfair before moving to Bournemouth to work in sales and team management. For 3 years I worked in domiciliary optical care travelling around care homes on the south coast. This taught me a better understanding in dementia and vulnerable people. I joined the Concierge team in 2013 and worked my way up to lead concierge.


I love my job, the staff and all the characters we here (including the pets). I now look after a team of 7 concierges at Southbourne. Never a dull moment, we are the eyes, ears and heart of the community. The relationships I build with the residents and families are so special and I value listening and trying to solve any request or concerns they may have.
