Southbourne Beach is located a short walk from the sea front and its excellent beaches, perfect for a refreshing walk or for some fresh sea air. The home attracts residents and their families from all over the wider Dorset area, including Christchurch, Ringwood and the New Forest. The home offers high quality care including both residential and dementia care as well as shorter respite stays. The care home has 104 beds over three floors.

The location of this home is a short drive to Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Bournemouth airport and easy reach of both the Saxon and Sovereign shopping centres. Close to Bournemouth centre, with its eclectic mix of culture and entertainment, road and rail links are excellent for visiting family and friends.

The care home offers a wide range of accommodation options and beautiful, wheelchair-friendly landscaped gardens designed for a gentle stroll or relaxing walk. Very pleased with the care and attention given by all staff.
Food quality, quantity and service excellent. Very comfortable bed.
Entertainment covers a wide range of subjects. I enjoy the mind gym and quizzes very much. A good variety of films on show although I have only watched one so far.

My dad moved to Sunrise of Southbourne in March. He has settled in well and is very happy. The staff are friendly, professional and caring. There is a lovely homely atmosphere - like walking into a country house hotel. The residents are key to everything. The range of activities provided is outstanding
- from regular quizzes and brain exercises to piano recitals and film nights. Something to suit all tastes and interests. I would highly recommend Southbourne.

I started in August 2014 when the organisation was not far developed and I'm very impressed by the continual improvement in facilities and quality. This is shown by the continuing increase of both clients and operational staff to provide the facilities. This development applies to the "cleanliness of
rooms and bathrooms". The way the staff operate has also resulted in a very happy relationship between all the residents.

In all honesty, I cannot answer Value for Money. I have nothing to compare it with. Would like more green vegetables such as spinach. I do take part in some activities but am an outdoor person and prefer to spend time walking and sitting in the garden rather than playing board games and scrabble.

I find this care home very good. The staff are excellent and do everything they can to help you. The food is very good and plentiful. There is plenty for people to do if they wish, I find if I am away for a while, my wife is well looked after and happy to see me back.

I have experienced a very comfortable home with excellent facilities and an extremely friendly staff. The food is mostly excellent and I have been very happy here. In common with other care homes, Sunrise has experienced difficulty in recruiting carers, housekeeping and activity staff. However, the
staff have worked incredibly hard to prevent the residents from being affected. It sometimes feels like a luxury hotel here.

I like living here because of the variety of things we do, singing and exercises and trips out to various places and how lovely the staff are and helpful.
We have a trike that takes us along the cliff top and hopefully back again.
I like indicating and putting your hand out to indicate left and right
and seeing the people having enjoyment, watching their happy faces.

Sunrise of Southbourne completely changes my idea of what a care home could be like. I had quite a negative impression of what care home was like before I visited Southbourne. Southbourne's environment, dignity, genuine care and respect for my mum's needs and her experience of life really surpassed
all my expectations. It's such a positive and comfortable place to be for both my mum to live and for us as her children and grandchildren to visit.

Outside of the ladies on front desk communication is non-existent to appalling. No advice of lockdowns, personal incidents, general well being. Poor management of eating.

Although I suffer from Alzheimer's I am well respected and encouraged to do all I can. I love engaging in all the activities on offer and very much enjoy the walk and minibus trips. I have a lovely room and although vegetarian enjoy the meals. I especially appreciate the provision of the salads. I also

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2023

I have worked in the care sector for over 12 years now, joining Southbourne Beach in 2023. My journey in care began as a care assistant, this was a role I truly loved and quickly realised that the care sector was where I was meant to be. My passion for delivering high-quality care developed from my personal experiences of caring for family members and continues to grow, surrounded by compassionate and selfless colleagues. I have been fortunate enough to achieve further training and qualifications, allowing me to progress into managerial positions.


I have lived in the Dorset area for most of my life and I love being part of my local community with our residents and staff. I am incredibly proud to lead a special team at Southbourne Beach, where the needs of our residents are always the number one priority. I joined towards the end of 2020 and really enjoy my role here – it is very diversified and no two days are the same. Prior to joining I worked as a Senior Administrator in another nursing home and have a long history of PA and administration work. I really enjoy meeting the residents and their families and getting to know everyone.


On a personal note, I have lived in Christchurch for the past 20 years and continue to do so with my husband and two children. We love walking along the beach and visiting the local cafes for coffee and a naughty treat.

Job Title: Dining Services Coordinator

I started working here as a Catering Assistant in 2007. Since then I have taken on new tasks and responsibilities which lead to being promoted to the current position of Dining Services Coordinator. I am responsible for all aspects of delivering nutritionally balanced meals, including special diets and dietary needs. It is very rewarding to see residents having a great dining experience, from the meal they have to the service they receive in a restaurant-style dining room. It motivates me and my fantastic team to provide the best possible service for them every day.

Job Title: Lead Concierge

Having studied and worked in performing arts for 15 years in London, I also gained experience in the hospitality industry organising events in Mayfair before moving to Bournemouth to work in sales and team management. For 3 years I worked in domiciliary optical care travelling around care homes on the south coast. This taught me a better understanding in dementia and vulnerable people. I joined the Concierge team in 2013 and worked my way up to lead concierge.


I love my job, the staff and all the characters we here (including the pets). I now look after a team of 7 concierges at Southbourne. Never a dull moment, we are the eyes, ears and heart of the community. The relationships I build with the residents and families are so special and I value listening and trying to solve any request or concerns they may have.
