Magna Care Centre is an attractive Mediterranean style building located within a beautiful conservation area. It offers the highest levels of specialist nursing, dementia and residential care including trial stays, short stays, convalescent care and long-term care for individuals or couples.

The home provides light and spacious accommodation throughout with wonderful landscaped gardens specially designed to be attractive in all seasons. The gardens feature a number of attractive water features, palms, exotic plants and terraces which have commanding views across five acres of grounds.

The team at Magna Care Centre take pride in supporting independence and variety. Staff are all dementia trained and understand the importance of meaningful activities. Through a dedicated activities plan generated by two onsite activities coordinators, residents' hobbies and interests are encouraged and supported at the home where possible.

Dining is an important part of the day to day life at Magna Care Centre. The chefs, along with the hospitality team, work hard to offer varied menus whilst promoting a balanced diet. Specialist training also equips the team with the skills to offer all residents a positive experience, including those living with dementia or dysphagia. Outside regular meal times, residents can enjoy freshly ground coffee and snacks and the popular snack bar.

IMy wife was admitted because of an emergency situation at home.
From the minute of arrival and during my stay she was treated well. The staff cannot do enough/sufficient to please residents.
The surroundings are most pleasant, my wife would not hesitate to return.

Mum has been in Magna for a few weeks now and has settled down really well. After spending eight weeks bedridden, with the help and support of the Magna Care Centre staff, she has been able to take part in activities, enjoying lunches in the restaurant and making new friends. We feel that at this stage
in her life, she is in a setting that makes her happy. Thank you.

Our mother always said she was so happy here. From our side, during the COVID period, they always put residents' safety and care first. At the same time, they were aware of the family need to visit at this difficult time. Mum always spoke highly of staff and the activities leader. In short, Magna put
the care in care home.

The management and all of the staff at Magna go the extra mile to help and support the residents and their relatives. Particularly during these challenging times of lockdowns and restrictions they have all acted with professionalism, kindness and understanding whilst keeping the safety and wellbeing
of the residents firmly in mind. I have been very impressed with the activity programme which has helped considerably with my mum's physical and mental wellbeing. Above all, my mum has been treated with respect and dignity by everyone. Thank you all.

My uncle had long periods of hospitalisations for months before he was eventually transferred to this home. Every hospital discharge meant further loneliness and fear as he lived alone and under Covid restrictions, the distress he suffered was exacerbated. Sadly he only knew a few weeks before he
died that he could stay at Magna. I heard the relief in his voice and in every phone conversation he told me how kind everyone was to him and how well he was being looked after. I cannot comment on the internal décor, rooms, food and drink or cleanliness of the home as with the government restrictions I could not enter the building. However, those things were not as important to me or my beloved uncle - it was the gentle kind words, the sense of belonging they gave him in just a few precious weeks, keeping him clean with the personal nursing at night as well as in the day, the respectful understanding of his nature and all the guidance given in person, by phone or email. Thank you all so much.

After hospitalisation, I was taken to Magna Care Centre for a 16-week stay. My room was well appointed with a pressure bed, ensuite facilities, TV and electric recliner chair. The day and night nursing care is exceptional and help is available 24-hours. Rooms cleaned daily and laundry done. The caring
staff are wonderful. Activities, games and quizzes provide stimulation and the food is superb. This care home offers unmatched caring and nursing. I was never lonely.

My father entered the home in August 2020 but owing to Covid he had to isolate for two weeks but I was able to talk to him on the phone. Since then I have been able to visit him with distancing and PPE. I have been impressed with the staff that I have met on these occasions and the rapport they have
with my father. I have been kept fully informed on the phone of any changes and found everyone very helpful, especially with the current difficulties of Covid to contend with. This means, however, that I haven’t been able to look round the home.

Terrible care home. My father spent the last 2 weeks of his life here. On his first night, he was placed on the incorrect mattress, when he mentioned to staff how uncomfortable it was they replied: "You will have to get used to it". I went in the next morning and could see large bumps in the mattress!
The manager verified that it was not an appropriate mattress. My father reported that he was left hungry (even though he had a very small appetite).
The staff decided not to put the guard up on the side of the bed and my father rolled out of the bed. He was heavily sedated and by the end unable to control his muscles so how the staff did not feel the guards were necessary is beyond me. The main reason we put dad into a care home was for pain management. Whenever I visited my dad requested more pain relief which I asked the staff for and they administered. I feel they should have been giving him this relief (or at least ask him if he wanted any relief) without me needing to ask for it.

The whole team at Magna Care have been genuinely amazing. The care my mum has received this year has completely transformed her quality of life and I cannot thank the nurses and carers enough. The way the whole team at Magna Care dealt so robustly with the Covid threat was also impressive. So sorry
I couldn't hug any of the staff at my last visit. They all deserve medals. Thank you!

Early May 2020, my father’s wife passed away, she had been in residence at the Magna Care Centre for a number of weeks. Whilst there, I was unable to visit due to the COVID 19 situation and so I cannot comment on the daily care she was given. However, after she had passed away, we (myself and my father)
were allowed to come to the centre to pick up a few personal effects. When we arrived and were making our way to the side entrance (as instructed) I noticed a ‘black bin bag’ on a table outside near the entrance. As we approached the entrance, the door opened and a member of staff (who seemed in a hurry to get something from a car) appeared and told us that the items we had come for were in fact in the bin bag. In the most insincere way I have ever seen or heard, she told us how sorry she was for the passing of my father's wife, and then she disappeared back into the centre, leaving my dad feeling extremely distraught. The lack of sensitivity and respect was unforgivable.

facilities are beautiful. I am so pleased my mother is here - it is all so clean and fresh with spacious rooms.

My wife was a nursing resident in the Segovia wing of the Magna Centre for three months from the end on June 2019 where she died on 5th October 2019. She was cared for very professionally and with great compassion and dignity and throughout her wishes were paramount in her care. I would like to thank
all who cared for her and to commend the professionalism of the Magna Care Centre for the care that she received whilst resident. As visitors we were always made very welcome and greeted with warmth and kept informed throughout of her condition.

My father has been in the care home for a few months. The care that he is given is outstanding. They are a team that work very closely together and you can see the dedication of every one of them. They also make the family welcome and keep us updated with relevant information on a daily basis. I couldn't
ask any more from the home. The care assistants and the nurses are a credit to the home. I am more than happy with the accommodation. Dad's room is always clean and tidy. I can't thank them enough.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.880)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.880) out of 10 for Magna is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 59 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 59 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.880 for Magna is calculated as follows: ( (611 Excellents x 5) + (81 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 693 Ratings = 4.88
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Magna is based on 59 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 69 registered maximum number of service users is 13.8, which has been reached with 59 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2010

With over 16 years at Magna, I lead a dedicated and compassionate team committed to delivering exceptional residential and nursing care. My background in intensive, elderly, and stroke care shapes the person?centred, dignified approach I bring to every aspect of our home.

Having progressed from Registered Nurse to Deputy Manager and now Home Manager, I have a deep understanding of our residents, their families, and the local community. I’m passionate about creating a warm, respectful environment where meaningful social connection enriches daily life. Making even one person’s day better is what motivates me.

Magna is a relaxed, home?from?home setting, and the welcoming atmosphere is a true reflection of the incredible team I’m proud to lead. Their kindness, commitment, and willingness to go the extra mile are at the heart of everything we do.

When I’m not wearing my manager’s hat, I’m a busy mum of three and can often be found out walking our little dog, Bob.
