The staff decided not to put the guard up on the side of the bed and my father rolled out of the bed. He was heavily sedated and by the end unable to control his muscles so how the staff did not feel the guards were necessary is beyond me. The main reason we put dad into a care home was for pain management. Whenever I visited my dad requested more pain relief which I asked the staff for and they administered. I feel they should have been giving him this relief (or at least ask him if he wanted any relief) without me needing to ask for it.
The whole team at Magna Care have been genuinely amazing. The care my mum has received this year has completely transformed her quality of life and I cannot thank the nurses and carers enough. The way the whole team at Magna Care dealt so robustly with the Covid threat was also impressive. So sorry I couldn't hug any of the staff at my last visit. They all deserve medals. Thank you!
Early May 2020, my father’s wife passed away, she had been in residence at the Magna Care Centre for a number of weeks. Whilst there, I was unable to visit due to the COVID 19 situation and so I cannot comment on the daily care she was given. However, after she had passed away, we (myself and my father) were allowed to come to the centre to pick up a few personal effects. When we arrived and were making our way to the side entrance (as instructed) I noticed a ‘black bin bag’ on a table outside near the entrance. As we approached the entrance, the door opened and a member of staff (who seemed in a hurry to get something from a car) appeared and told us that the items we had come for were in fact in the bin bag. In the most insincere way I have ever seen or heard, she told us how sorry she was for the passing of my father's wife, and then she disappeared back into the centre, leaving my dad feeling extremely distraught. The lack of sensitivity and respect was unforgivable.
Magna Care Centre always provided a wonderful, friendly and safe environment for my Mother for almost 2 years from July 2018. The whole staff were fantastic, caring and demonstrated great professionalism at all times.
The setting and the actual home and facilities are fantastic. The staff are friendly, helpful and really want to make things comfortable for my mum. There is a warm feeling on entry and this continues through the whole of the time and it has a relaxing feel. I look forward to coming to see Mum and the facilities are beautiful. I am so pleased my mother is here - it is all so clean and fresh with spacious rooms.
The drinks are OK but the food is very poor and needs to be looked at. £5 for something that I could get in a fast-food outlet.
My wife was a nursing resident in the Segovia wing of the Magna Centre for three months from the end on June 2019 where she died on 5th October 2019. She was cared for very professionally and with great compassion and dignity and throughout her wishes were paramount in her care. I would like to thank all who cared for her and to commend the professionalism of the Magna Care Centre for the care that she received whilst resident. As visitors we were always made very welcome and greeted with warmth and kept informed throughout of her condition.
It is heartbreaking to see your relative deteriorate with dementia but the Magna is a small oasis of peace and safety. After visits I know I leave my dear Mum in kind, caring and capable hands. The staff are simply lovely here - all of them.
My father has been in the care home for a few months. The care that he is given is outstanding. They are a team that work very closely together and you can see the dedication of every one of them. They also make the family welcome and keep us updated with relevant information on a daily basis. I couldn't ask any more from the home. The care assistants and the nurses are a credit to the home. I am more than happy with the accommodation. Dad's room is always clean and tidy. I can't thank them enough.
This care home gives me the peace of mind that is hard to find. Thank you.
He is always well presented and happily greets all the staff as they pass.
The staff are always cheery and happy to help.
We only visit once a year but it would seem that she is looked after very well indeed in a beautiful setting.
My uncle was in your home for a short term of respite. He seemed very happy to be there although he said, "there is no place like home". However, he told me that he had been in several homes for respite care and this one was the best. Thank you.
Excellent.
The staff are always friendly and the residents are happy and cheerful when they are interacting with the staff. The activities for residents exceed our expectations. Families of the residents are treated as one of the family of the care home too which is lovely. I cannot recommend this home enough.
All the staff here are very caring and happy, always willing to talk if needed. The activities are really good and inclusive.
The rooms are a good size with lovely outlooks onto the gardens and patios.
The atmosphere is very friendly and family orientated.
The home is very clean and the staff are quick to clean accidents discreetly fast
He has settled and found a new home at The Magna.
All the staff are friendly approachable and show dedication to their care.
There is a great sense of home and community here. The range of activities and outings are great. The Magna staff team are fantastic.
It is never an easy time to consider a mum needs extra care and safety, so many considerations to choose a residential care home. The Magna has proved to be the best choice for a home from home open warm and comfortable environment for mum. Whether for support, care, dignity, fantastic caring team or the freedom of family to visit anytime. It's a pleasure to recommend The Magna Care Centre for care, food and for life's support.
Looks are deceiving at this place, my Mother was here for respite, the care she received was appalling, she was left in soiled clothes and several times left soaking in urine, medication given at wrong times and some were not given, she didn't eat as the food was awful. We ended up taking her out as quickly as we could.
We are sorry that this reviewer was not happy with the care their relative received a year ago in September 2017. The comfort and care of all our residents is always our top priority. My door is always open to discuss any problems or issues you may have and we would urge people to come and talk to us at the time of any problems so that they can be investigated and resolved.

Meet the Team (1)

With over 16 years at Magna, I lead a dedicated and compassionate team committed to delivering exceptional residential and nursing care. My background in intensive, elderly, and stroke care shapes the person?centred, dignified approach I bring to every aspect of our home.
Having progressed from Registered Nurse to Deputy Manager and now Home Manager, I have a deep understanding of our residents, their families, and the local community. I’m passionate about creating a warm, respectful environment where meaningful social connection enriches daily life. Making even one person’s day better is what motivates me.
Magna is a relaxed, home?from?home setting, and the welcoming atmosphere is a true reflection of the incredible team I’m proud to lead. Their kindness, commitment, and willingness to go the extra mile are at the heart of everything we do.
When I’m not wearing my manager’s hat, I’m a busy mum of three and can often be found out walking our little dog, Bob.
