The home is split into two areas, one for dementia nursing and one for dementia residential. That could be for day care, a couple of weeks of respite or a more long-term move.

Withe dads dementia was a big concern to me. The home was great for all of us. The help and support we all got was wonderful. Each member a staff, was so good to dad, our visits each time we were offered drinks and a little cake. Dad loved his food especially the puddings. He was allowed to put up photos and pictures on the walls. Great home, very dignified at the end for dad.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with our home. Your comments are a testament to the dedication of everyone in the home and hearing that our care has made a difference to you and your family is truly rewarding. Mealtimes are such an important part daily life and it's lovely to hear that...
So from the bottom of our hearts a very big thank you.Would give you all more than 5 stars I'd i could.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your mother-in-law in our care and we are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
As always, everything at Chestnut Lodge / Elm Grove continues to be 10/10. Friendly, incredibly patient & loving staff; amazing, stimulating activities; care & health monitoring is totally on the ball - every & any slight concern is immediately communicated to family &/or health services with the urgency that the situation requires; nutrition requirements & concerns are constantly monitored and evolve according to mum's needs.
My sister & I live in France & the USA respectively, so we cannot visit as often as we would like. I usually manage to visit 4 or 5 times per year, but my sister keeps touch via our weekly "Zoom" video chats, which we all love. We have nothing but the highest praise for everyone at Chestnut Lodge, and we know that our mummy is living her best possible life, and having enormous amounts of fun (as we regularly see via your social media page - a real lifeline for us)! We are so incredibly grateful and cannot recommend your wonderful home enough. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your mum in our care. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.
Since mum moved to this home in Cirencester around 2 years ago, mum has been so much happier! Compared to the last care home in the area! I have a left a 5 star review before about the amazing staff at Elm Grove, but this time I would like to express huge praise and thanks to all of the "kitchen staff!" the chef and his team are amazing! Nothing is too much trouble talking about my mum's dietary requirements! The amount of time they have personally spent with mum, myself and my partner talking at how they can help mum with her diet, as mum is on a puree diet at present. Their kindness and time is above and beyond! The way in which the chef and team present, as well as the creativity of the pureed meals is like food you would expect to see visually in a Michelin Restaurant, the beautifully presented meals. Nothing is too much trouble, even when they are busy, if you want a cheeky cuppa, just knock on the door and they will makes us one. We love the kitchen team! Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your kind words. It is wonderful to hear that your Mum is happy and that she is receiving high standards of care and respect. It is brilliant to hear that our Kitchen Staff have gone above and beyond for your Mum and that her dietary needs are being met. It...
The grounds are large and they hold a summer fair every year. Mum really enjoyed that. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time and we are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your Mum in our care. We hope to continue providing your Mum with the best possible care and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Grandad is safe very well cared for, has all meals and medication provided reducing stress on himself. The most important thing - he is happy!!
Grandad is thriving because of the expert care and living his life as he wishes, with support on hand 24/7.
Thank you for your feedback. It is so wonderful to hear that your Grandad has gained more confidence and happiness due to his stay so far at Elm Grove Care Home. It is lovely to hear that he is receiving high quality care and that he is able to feel at ease, knowing that he has support 24 hours a...
The service my father receives is above and beyond what you expect from any care home. Continual updates from the team when I visit my dad even when they are extremely busy, go above and beyond. They are truly amazing. I cannot thank them enough for making sure my dad receives hotel-standard food it is much appreciated. All the staff in Chestnut Lodge go above and beyond to make sure he is happy healthy and safe. Every time I visit dad he tells me this is the best place ever. He loves it there especially his one carer she makes " his day".
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your father in our care and it is always nice to hear words like "go above and beyond" being used to describe our care. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your father's stay as comfortable as possible and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Mum came to stay for two weeks of respite care and she was very well cared for and looked after. We had complete peace of mind whilst we had a much-needed holiday. All the staff were lovely and mum thoroughly enjoyed her 'holiday', she has already asked us if she will be coming again!
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you could feel such ease with your Mum in our care. Thank you for choosing Elm Grove for your stay and hope to see your Mum again soon.
I have found all the staff unfailingly friendly and helpful. I have not eaten here, but the menu looks very tempting. My friend's room is large, light and airy.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are really pleased you have found the home so comfortable and well cared for, alongside your friend too. We are looking forward to seeing you visit again.
My mum moved into Elm Grove Care Home a week ago it was a difficult move away from my father but the staff have all been amazing - so kind and caring. It is clear to see my mum is being looked after well and it is reassuring to know she is safe.
Thank you for your lovely review. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after and we are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. We hope Elm Grove Care Home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as...
My dad has lived at Elm Grove for the past 20 months. Initially he moved in with my mum who sadly passed away 16 months ago. His dementia means he has gradually declined but he obviously feels safe with the care team who are friendly and support him with all his needs. He smiles often and is settled, generally, he appears happy. He tucks into all his meals, an easy chew diet, there is choice and it always looks appetising and smells good. Thank you to everyone who looks after him.
Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your Dad in our care. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.
Mum passed away at Elm Grove and the palliative care she received was exemplary. We were reassured that her last days would be pain-free, both mentally and physically and they were. The care throughout this time for Mum and us as a family was second to none. Mum's stay at Elm Grove was only for 9 months but she couldn't have been in a better place or with better staff. Please keep up the good work, you are an amazing team led by a wonderful home manager.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear of your loss, however, it is really nice to hear words such as “great compassion” and “exemplary” being used to describe the care our staff provided for your Mum. We are sorry to hear of your loss, and we will certainly pass...
Excellent care, staff are extremely caring and compassionate to all the residents. A very warm and inclusive atmosphere where all residents are treated with real dignity and relatives are made to feel very welcome. My mum couldn't have been in a better place for her last 9 months.
Thank you for your kind review. We are really pleased to hear words such as "caring" and "compassionate" being used to describe the care we provide at Elm Grove. We are sorry to hear of your loss but hope you are able to look back on this experience knowing your Mum received the best possible care.
Elm Grove has a calm, homely atmosphere where my wife and family felt welcome from day one. The staff are so caring and kind, working hard with patience, cheery smiles and professionalism to give their best. It feels like a family and the manager ensures residents are seen as individuals not a number. We visited around ten homes before we made this place our choice - it was definitely the right one.
The day after my sister-in-law moved into Elm Grove we visited to make sure that she was comfortable and happy, we were met by staff who introduced themselves by first names which put us at ease and made us feel as if we were meeting up with old friends. The care that my sister-in-law receives is first class although she doesn't always appreciate it given the kind of dementia that she has, her room overlooks the garden and she watches the changes to the chestnut tree, she does not mix well but the staff are trying to get her to be more sociable. The food is excellent and varied and all staff kind and caring, we could not have wished for a better home for my sister-in-law to be in. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your loved one in our care and we are so pleased to hear that you are impressed with the high level of care that your sister-in-law receives. It is so nice to hear that your sister-in-law has a lovely view of the...
is! She is always happy and has lots of lovely things to do and people to see.
She is in better health than she was living at home - she eats and drinks so much more, we are so pleased. It was a really hard decision to let her live at Chestnut Lodge - but a year on we absolutely know that it was the right thing.
Thank you to all of the amazing staff that care for her daily.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your mother-in-law in our care. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.
My mother and father started their stay at Elm Grove Care home in April 2022. My father has dementia and my mother was frail, due to a fall in early 2020 where she broke her hip. The care they have both received has been excellent. Unfortunately, my mother died in September 2022 and the staff were fantastic in caring for her right up to the end. My father continues to be cared for and supported by staff here and I feel he is in a safe and caring environment.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time, and we are saddened to hear about your loss. It is always nice to hear words like "safe” and “caring” being used to describe our environment. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your father's stay as comfortable as possible.
Staff are professional, kind, caring and supportive.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. It is always nice to hear words like 'kind' and 'caring' being used to describe our care. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your loved one's stay as comfortable as possible.
My wife has now been with Elm Grove for over two years and overall the care and attention given to her by staff has been very good, bordering on excellent. As with any people-orientated organisation, there are 'star' carers and 'also-rans'. The 'stars' are fantastic and provide a wonderful level of empathy to patients like my wife and are able to bring a smile to her face. Activities staff try to involve all residents, despite the challenges that dementia brings. Sadly for many patients with this awful disease, considerable amounts of time is spent without meaningful cognitive involvement or challenges. The standard of furnishing and decoration within all guest areas of the home is excellent and kept up to date. Recently, all rooms have been redecorated and the furniture and carpeting has been replaced, giving a well-cared for look to the whole home environment.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after, and hearing words like 'fantastic' and 'wonderful level of empathy' being used to describe care in our home. We will certainly pass your...
I realise how challenging it must be to care for residents with varying types of dementia but I do feel there could be more staff to attend to my brother's needs. He frequently complains his call button is not answered in a timely fashion and he is left on the toilet for far too long. His toilet needs are his main worry as he needs full assistance with this. He is becoming anxious about this and holds it for too long. This is an ongoing situation.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We have a genuine regard for all of our residents and their health and wellbeing is an absolute priority. We will discuss your feedback with the home’s manager to help them continually improve their service, and we are aware that the home are...

Meet the Team (6)

Hi, I am Kim, the home manager at Elm Grove. I started my caring career at Elm Grove 18 years ago and subsequently transferred to Ashley House. In 2025, I came back to Elm Grove as home manager.
I am a very proud mum of one- Amelia, who is 6. I love going on holidays with my husband, Garrick, and Amelia. When that’s not possible, a cold G&T does the trick.

I'm Kelly, the senior activities co-ordinator at Elm Grove. I have worked here since 2022.
I love organising events and activities for our residents. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to bring smiles to our residents' faces. Seeing them smile brings me so much happiness.
I live in Cirencester with my husband, Bruce and 4 children, Ryan, Charlie, Harry and Ellie-May. We have 2 cats, Bonnie and DJ and a dog, Finley.
In my spare time, I love to do things with my family. I play darts and skittles for a family team. I also love doing crafts and making things.

I’m Ian, the chef manager at Elm Grove. I’ve worked for Bupa for just over 7 years now and am very passionate about “inclusivity not exclusivity”, so no one misses out regardless of their dietary needs.
I live just outside of Cirencester with my wife Sophie, daughter Felicity and cat Max. In my spare time, I enjoy family days out, gardening and Sudoku.

I'm Trudi, the head housekeeper at Elm Grove. I have worked here for 18 years.
I love interacting with the residents, and I'm always happy to have a little help from them.
I have a partner, Kev and a daughter, Jess. I live with Colin the dog, Pedro the cat and Fernando the royal python.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing darts and going to rock concerts. I'm also studying for a degree in psychology and counselling.

My name is Mukhtar Muhammad, and I am a senior carer at Elm Grove Care Home. It is here that I found my passion for care, and I truly feel privileged to work in a field where I can support our residents and their relatives while continuing to grow as a professional. I also feel very honoured to serve as a diversity and inclusivity champion, where I focus on fostering a positive and inclusive environment for our team. I have been fortunate to learn from, and continue to learn from, an exceptional nursing team and supportive colleagues. Beyond my care role, my passion for archaeology and history drives my curiosity about how past events shape the present. This connection inspires me to contribute to making the world a better place.

I'm Dan, the maintenance operative. I have been working at Elm Grove since 2023, and I love working with the team and making a difference for the residents. Since being with Bupa, I have had a big input on the building changes and remodelling of the home, as well as turning previously unused spaces into wonderful places for our residents to enjoy.
In my spare time, I like to spend time with my fiancée, Leanne and our two boys, Lucas and Arthur. I also play football for a local team and darts for my family team, whilst still finding time to attend my rock festivals.
