My wife has now been with Elm Grove for over two years and overall the care and attention given to her by staff has been very good, bordering on excellent. As with any people-orientated organisation, there are 'star' carers and 'also-rans'. The 'stars' are fantastic and provide a wonderful level of
empathy to patients like my wife and are able to bring a smile to her face. Activities staff try to involve all residents, despite the challenges that dementia brings. Sadly for many patients with this awful disease, considerable amounts of time is spent without meaningful cognitive involvement or challenges. The standard of furnishing and decoration within all guest areas of the home is excellent and kept up to date. Recently, all rooms have been redecorated and the furniture and carpeting has been replaced, giving a well-cared for look to the whole home environment.

I realise how challenging it must be to care for residents with varying types of dementia but I do feel there could be more staff to attend to my brother's needs. He frequently complains his call button is not answered in a timely fashion and he is left on the toilet for far too long. His toilet needs
are his main worry as he needs full assistance with this. He is becoming anxious about this and holds it for too long. This is an ongoing situation.

Overall, I give Elm Grove high marks. The staff is extremely attentive to my mother's needs and empathetic to her medical condition. Every time I visit the building itself seems clean and well-maintained. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about my mother's room. I understand that the building is
older but there is no excuse for the paint to be peeling off the walls around my mother's bed, all within reach. I consider this a serious health and safety violation that could be corrected quickly without too much upheaval.

My mum was in Elm Grove Care Home for 5 years, I have nothing but praise for the home and its staff. My mum was always well looked after and treated with dignity. They were always trying to encourage her to take part in the various activities which did brighten up her day and provided stimulation.
However, my review here is specifically related to my mum's last few weeks. Once it was recognised that it probably wasn't the best thing for my mum to be admitted to hospital and therefore that it was likely that she was nearing the end their care and contact with me was flawless. I was able to visit mum every day for her last few weeks, staff were there to update me on her condition. They ensured she was comfortable and were incredibly patient when it came to ensuring she had food and water and wasn't in distress. All the staff were wonderful with me at what was a hard time. I got a call a few hours before her final moments and therefore was able to be with her.

Whenever we have visited, we have found the staff to be respectful and attentive to my mum. They go above and beyond to ensure Mum doesn't want for anything. They try hard to stimulate her with appropriate activities; they ensure that services attend the home for the benefit of its residents. The level

Thought Dad would find it hard moving to a care facility, but turned out anything but. Staff are brilliant, understanding he has dementia. Always well presented shaved and washed. Loves his room and the food is excellent. Couldn’t imagine him being anywhere else. Went to his first ever disco a few weeks

During the four years my mum has been a resident she has received excellent care. Both in Chestnut Lodge and Willow, the staff are kind and caring and go above and beyond. Recently while my mum received end-of-life care everyone looked after us so well as well as my mum. What an amazing team of people,

The care team and management have always been extremely kind, empathetic and accommodating towards me and were as helpful as restrictions would allow, to enable me to have important visits with Gran or FaceTimes when visits are not possible. I think the staff have a lot to deal with and the new software
development with recording care records, designed with the purpose to enable the carers to spend more time with residents, is so valuable. I know my gran often says she feels lonely, so this would be a big comfort and appreciated by Gran and us.

My mother, who has dementia, has been happy at Elm Grove Care Home for the last two years. (I would know if she wasn't!). Of course, a lot of that time we've been unable to visit due to Coronavirus, with the residents' safety a priority. But what I have seen reassures me as I'm kept informed of her

I was very impressed with the welcome I received when I visited this home to see if it was suitable for Aunt to move to. The manager was very thorough in the range of topics that were discussed and I was reassured by her approach and caring philosophy. Aunt has advanced Dementia but she seems more engaged
and happier since she moved to Elm Grove. I think this is largely due to the patience, kindness, and empathy of the staff who I cannot praise enough.

My dearest husband spent only 6 weeks in Elm Grove before he died. From the moment he went in there he settled. He seemed to feel it was his home and he felt safe there. Although at a previous home where he spent over 4 weeks in respite he had not wanted to come out of his room and had wanted to come
home, Elm Grove gently coaxed him out of his room, and within days he was happy to go into the lounge with other residents and watch TV or just sleep and was soon happily joining other residents in the dining room. Everyone caring from him, from the maintenance man to the nurses, carers, kitchen staff, and the home manager were genuinely caring people. He was treated with dignity, love, and patience. Nothing was too much for any of them. I can’t thank them enough. Elm Grove is homely, welcoming, and has a loving feeling about it. I just wish he had lived long enough to enjoy being there for longer.

Having my aunt from June of this year now residing at Elm Grove is my first experience of a relative living as a resident in a care home. My aunt needs 24-hour nursing care, my experience so far is that the staff both on Willow and on the admin side are very supportive both to her and me. It is a great
weight off my shoulders knowing that she is well cared for. Having been a full-time carer myself for my Dad, I have some experience of how challenging that role is. That was in 'normal' times, now coping with Covid, I admire how they are managing. Thank you.

My first visit to Elm Grove ever, my first visit to see my gran in over a year (Covid-19 restrictions), so I was very excited and emotional! I was greeted by one lovely lady who explained the whole process and made me feel very welcome and at ease. Same when leaving. The carers and management were fab!
I feel my gran is in the place she could hope for, and she smiles a lot and look much healthier. Thank you, everybody, keep up the amazing work, stay safe. The garden needs tidying up! Get them out in the fresh air.

Hi, I am Kim, the home manager at Elm Grove. I started my caring career at Elm Grove 18 years ago and subsequently transferred to Ashley House. In 2025, I came back to Elm Grove as home manager.


I am a very proud mum of one- Amelia, who is 6. I love going on holidays with my husband, Garrick, and Amelia. When that’s not possible, a cold G&T does the trick.

My name is Kelcey, and I am the unit manager of Chestnut Lodge. I have worked for Bupa since 2015. I began my career as a care assistant at one of our sister homes, Druid Stoke, before transferring to Elm Grove in 2024.


I live in Bristol with my husband, Billy and 2 children, Myla and Creed. Outside of work, I love to cook and am a bit of a foodie.

I'm Kelly, the senior activities co-ordinator at Elm Grove. I have worked here since 2022.


I love organising events and activities for our residents. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to bring smiles to our residents' faces. Seeing them smile brings me so much happiness.


I live in Cirencester with my husband, Bruce and 4 children, Ryan, Charlie, Harry and Ellie-May. We have 2 cats, Bonnie and DJ and a dog, Finley.


In my spare time, I love to do things with my family. I play darts and skittles for a family team. I also love doing crafts and making things.

I’m Ian, the chef manager at Elm Grove. I’ve worked for Bupa for just over 7 years now and am very passionate about “inclusivity not exclusivity”, so no one misses out regardless of their dietary needs.


I live just outside of Cirencester with my wife Sophie, daughter Felicity and cat Max. In my spare time, I enjoy family days out, gardening and Sudoku.

I'm Trudi, the head housekeeper at Elm Grove. I have worked here for 18 years.


I love interacting with the residents, and I'm always happy to have a little help from them.


I have a partner, Kev and a daughter, Jess. I live with Colin the dog, Pedro the cat and Fernando the royal python.


In my spare time, I enjoy playing darts and going to rock concerts. I'm also studying for a degree in psychology and counselling.

My name is Mukhtar Muhammad, and I am a senior carer at Elm Grove Care Home. It is here that I found my passion for care, and I truly feel privileged to work in a field where I can support our residents and their relatives while continuing to grow as a professional. I also feel very honoured to serve as a diversity and inclusivity champion, where I focus on fostering a positive and inclusive environment for our team. I have been fortunate to learn from, and continue to learn from, an exceptional nursing team and supportive colleagues. Beyond my care role, my passion for archaeology and history drives my curiosity about how past events shape the present. This connection inspires me to contribute to making the world a better place.

Job Title: Maintenance Operative Joined: 2023

I'm Dan, the maintenance operative. I have been working at Elm Grove since 2023, and I love working with the team and making a difference for the residents. Since being with Bupa, I have had a big input on the building changes and remodelling of the home, as well as turning previously unused spaces into wonderful places for our residents to enjoy.


In my spare time, I like to spend time with my fiancée, Leanne and our two boys, Lucas and Arthur. I also play football for a local team and darts for my family team, whilst still finding time to attend my rock festivals.
