Grevill House offers up to 50 residents compassionate, individualised residential, nursing and respite care. This warm and friendly home is located on the eastern edge of Cheltenham in the delightful village of Charlton Kings.

On-site is The Ashley Intermediate Care Centre which provides rehabilitation and enablement for up to 15 people that are discharged from hospital but who are not quite ready to return home. They are supported by a multidisciplinary team from the local NHS Trust.

Cosy lounges, a bright dining room and spacious gardens are the perfect places to relax or socialise with family and friends. Residents are safe in the knowledge that their dedicated, professionally trained team are on hand around-the-clock to give high-quality care and support required enabling residents to continue to enjoy a fulfilling and independent lifestyle.

Dedicated activities coordinators organise a varied programme of events around each individual's requests, hobbies and interests. The team will be delighted to assist residents to continue with existing pastimes, as well as give an opportunity to try something new. They make sure everyone is able to enjoy themselves to the fullest from large-scale group activities and events, like the summer fun day, to arts and crafts, doing a jigsaw, gardening or simply reading a book. Visits from outside entertainers happen regularly. The home has access to a minibus for trips out.

A talented cook and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals. The freshly prepared, delicious dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and take into account individual dietary requirements and preferences. Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join.

Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is ÂŁ21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

All the caring staff are wonderful. They made time to talk with me when I had questions. The admin, cleaning and nurses always managed to chat with me when I had concerns. My husband was always clean and comfy. He ate everything given to him. The area was always clean and tidy on the grounds lovely.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ashley Intermediate Care Centre to anyone who asks. Thank you.

Ashley Intermediate carers were so lovely to my late husband, nothing was too much trouble. They treated him with so much dignity as he suffered so much with vascular dementia and I wish there were more places like this.

I came here for respite care on 8th June 2024 and I am leaving here tomorrow on 29th June feeling much better.

My mother moved into Grevill House in March, she has taken a few weeks to settle in, the team has been very kind and patient with her, and she likes her carers. Living in another part of the country, we have a long drive, but we are made very welcome with tea and biscuits. My mother has a lovely room,
the dining area and lounge is bright and cheerful. When you enter Greville House, it is very clean and fresh. The manager is very approachable and understanding.

During my aunt's stay Covid lockdowns happened and long periods when the only lift was out of action happened. All of the staff did their best in those circumstances. Also, the home was totally refurbished. Our suggestions for improvements would be:
1. Stoma supplies and build-up drinks not be over-ordered
and kept in a cupboard not in residents' rooms. They are too small.
2. Ensuite bathrooms would improve comfort and dignity as other homes have.
3. The variety of activities provided is good and good quality but a bit erratic in provision. Staff should also encourage residents to attend more and remind and assist them to get to the activity.

Mum was made to feel welcome immediately. She was very anxious and frail when she arrived at Grevill House and Ashley Intermediate Care Centre in December 2023. The change in her has been amazing due to the staff and their care of her. They took time to get to know her and encouraged her to have the
confidence to try things independently i.e. dressing/personal care. Mentally and physically she is so much happier than she was when she arrived.

We cannot fault the care my nan received as a family. During her initial few days/weeks when she felt nervous and anxious, the staff were kind, supportive, and patient. They built her confidence to be comfortable in her new environment.
All staff were very welcoming of us as family and were always
willing to answer any questions we had.
My nan was sad to leave for her permanent resident home. The care provided built her strength and confidence hugely.

My sister was very poorly and confused when she left hospital but when she arrived at Ashley we knew she would be happy. The staff are beyond comparison, they treated her as if she was a family member. The care she received as she became more unwell was fantastic. I really liked the way the staff interacted
with one another and always felt my sister was included and loved. The atmosphere was always happy and lighthearted, but underneath, the serious business of life and death was conducted in the most professional and caring way. She was a very sociable person and the staff laughed and chatted to her. Although always busy without exception the staff treated her as a person chatting to her, and making her last days incredibly comfortable and calm. I would like to thank each and every one concerned with my sister's care and if I could give more than ten out of ten I would. The staff treated my wife and myself in the most caring way too, cups of tea, kind words and laughter.

Since my mum has been in Ashley Intermediate Care Centre the care she has received has been excellent. Staff go above and beyond for my mum and her family. The room was cleaned to excellent standards, mum loves the food. The unit lead, nurses, care staff and housekeeper are always approachable and helpful.
Mum feels safe. If it wasn't an assessment unit I know my mum would like this to be her home.

My father stayed in the Ashley Centre from October to December 2023 after discharge from hospital.
The whole team at the Ashley Centre provided a high level of care and compassion to my father who was being treated for Parkinsons, sadly he passed away at the unit but we take huge comfort that he was
surrounded by carers who adored him.
The team became like family to us, always greeting my mother and I will a smile, providing a much-needed cup of tea and a comforting word when needed. They honestly went above and beyond what we had expected.

My husband stayed in the Ashley Assessment Unit from October to December 2023. The staff were amazing giving a first-class service. Although my husband was in the final stages of Parkinson’s Disease, leaving him unable to speak, the staff were always patient, and ready to help him. The team gave both
myself and my daughter a huge amount of support and compassion during an extremely difficult and stressful time.
I found the Ashley Assessment Unit to always be extremely clean and tidy, a real credit to the staff.
I would recommend it 100%.

Appalled at lack of attendance of staff. Apart from a person who admitted me, there was no sign of another non-residential person. Found my brother-in-law lying on his bed without a stitch of clothing, nothing to protect his modesty. Covered him with a sheet, he was barely conscious and obviously in
a great deal of pain due to his bed sores.
His room light had been dimmed, a case of out of sight, out of mind. This place should be shut down! Total disregard for residents.

My experience is that the care and help of residents rests at a very satisfactory level, as previously confirmed by me. Despite some technical problems experienced during refurbishment, the dedication of all staff and their overcoming obstacles was noticeable.

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Suzi

Suzi Meler

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2011

Suzi has worked for OSJCT since 2011, she has a wealth of experience including leading the Monkscroft team to achieve CQC Outstanding. In her previous role as Clinical Lead for the Gloucestershire region, she was instrumental in securing setting up and leading 5 Assessment Units across the region.


As the Home Manager, Suzi is committed to maintaining the highest standards of care, ensuring that each resident feels valued, safe, and comfortable within our community.


With a focus on continuous improvement, Suzi actively encourages open communication, actively listening to the concerns and suggestions of residents, families, and staff to enhance our care services further.

Katarzyna

Katarzyna Glowacka

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2015

Katarzyna Glowacka (Kasia) is a dedicated and experienced nurse with a remarkable journey in the healthcare field. Kasia's nursing career began in 1995. In 2015 she began her career with the Orders of St John Care Trust, starting as a nurse at Bohanam House.


In 2020, Kasia's passion for nursing led her to Chestnut Court, where she took on the role of Senior Nurse in the Assessment Unit. In April 2023, she became an invaluable member of the Grevill House team where on September 18, Kasia was appointed as Deputy Manager.


As Deputy Manager, Kasia plays a pivotal role in the management of Grevill House, working closely with the Home Manager to ensure that the home operates in accordance with the policies and guidelines laid down by OSJCT. Additionally, she is the Lead Person for Infection Control at Grevill.


Outside of her rewarding career, Kasia is a loving mum of two sons and enjoys various hobbies, including travelling, sailing, capturing the beauty of nature through photography, attending live music concerts, and cherishing quality time with her family.

Chrissie

Chrissie Silcock

Job Title: Activity Coordinator Joined: 2025

Chrissie joined the Trust in 2025 as an Activity Coordinator, having previously worked at Grevill/Ashley in 2020 following the passing of her husband. She was drawn to the activities role because of her passion for bringing people together and creating enjoyable, inclusive experiences that support wellbeing through social interaction.


She finds great personal satisfaction in seeing residents benefit from fun and meaningful activities, and is particularly interested in building stronger community connections and encouraging teamwork. Chrissie is excited to bring her energy, enthusiasm, and fresh ideas to the role, while developing her leadership, communication, and event-planning skills.
