I have no complaints what so ever for the care and attention my mother received while she was in Ashley Intermediate Care Centre. She was looked after very well. Everywhere was always clean and tidy. The staff are very patient and really do their jobs well.

Friendly staff. Clean and bright environment. The resident we visited spoke highly of his care, the food and the staff. Warm welcome with a nice cup of coffee. Would recommend to others, a nice place to rehabilitate.

Grevill House is a very nice friendly care home and I have always felt very welcome when I visit. The staff are all excellent. My husband was admitted into Grevill in January 2020 after a very stressful two and a half months in hospital and has many communication and mobility issues after a stroke,
but the staff are very patient with him. The last two years with Covid lockdowns have been very difficult for everyone but it is good to see the residents now able to enjoy the many activities organised for them again.

This review relates to Ashely Intermediate Care Centre. My husband was transferred from the hospital to Ashley for assessment. Because of our postcode and our medical centre, he was kept at Ashley for eighteen weeks, mainly because his allocated social workers were very very slow, particularly financially.
The staff cared for him outstandingly, medically and mentally. The stoma bag and bladder problems were dealt with efficiently and quickly. The staff became his friends. He also suffers from Lewy body disease.

Mum has been a resident at Grevill House for seven months now. She is happy, content and safe there. The staff are friendly, professional, supportive, kind and welcoming at all times. Mum's room is clean, tidy and well-kept. The meals are nutritional and what she likes. Mum has very much enjoyed the
choir and hymns. She enjoys having conversations with the staff and listening to their stories. My family and I are very happy with the service. Thank you!

There is a lovely atmosphere in Grevill House and Ashley Intermediate Care Centre. All the staff are very friendly and make you feel part of 'the family'. My father seems happy there and always says he is well looked after. Staff know my father by name and will pop their heads around his door for
a chat when passing which is lovely. When my father first arrived at Grevill House the staff went out of their way to make him feel welcome and to help him settle in. My only grumble is that, on a couple of occasions, I feel Grevill House should have let me know earlier about minor problems surrounding my father's care which were easily fixed once I knew what the issues were.

I would like to thank every single person for the care provided to my father, who passed in their care. The treatment was done with the utmost care and attention allowing us both to be present for a peaceful passing. Also, the support provided to my mum (who is also a resident) and myself was done with
empathy. I know my mum will be further supported by this loss by all in her care that I’m extremely grateful for.
Thanking everyone again.

I was a resident in Grevill House for two weeks as a respite resident, following an accident abroad that resulted in a broken leg and a broken wrist. The manager was very helpful and proactive in arranging assessment and acceptance whilst I was still in German and showed much flexibility over dates
for my stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I received good care. The accommodation was due to be refurbished but this had been delayed due to Covid, refurbishment of rooms would be desirable. The food was good but sometimes not very hot.

My dear mum has been at Ashley Intermediate Care Centre since 11th April 2021 and during that time she has received exemplary care. Mum has been cared for in a very caring and compassionate way and everything has been done to make my mum's stay as comfortable as possible. All the staff have always accommodated
my phone calls, video calls and visits. I cannot praise you all enough! You are amazing!

I would like to say that despite the current difficulties, the care and support my mum received was excellent. She was really well looked after and although I was unable to see her properly, I had every confidence that she was being well looked after. I would certainly recommend Ashley House as an excellent
assessment centre.

My father was sent to Grevill by the hospital during the Covid period on discharge from hospital after a fall and I had no say in it at all. However, Grevill is quite close to us for convenience. Due to the Covid restrictions, we were not allowed to visit him which caused him to be quite confused and
stressed. The staff were absolutely brilliant with him and arranged Video and phone calls for me to speak and see him, which due to his condition was a great help. He was happy there and they made a real fuss of him. He had Dementia and was 97 years old. He was an electrical engineer during his working life. In late March this year, he suddenly deteriorated culminating in his death on 31 March 2021. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention given to him throughout his stay, especially so in his final days.

My husband came to Grevill House very anxious. He had not been eating or caring for himself at all. Since being at Grevill House, he is a new man. All the staff is amazing with him. nothing is too much trouble. He has put on weight due to all the lovely food. he is so relaxed. I have not seen him so
relaxed in a long long time. I couldn't wish for anymore.

My mother, age 98, spent several weeks in Grevill House recovering from a broken right arm. She needed 24/7 nursing care; the care she received in Grevill House exceeded our expectations. All the staff we met were kind, caring and professional. Mum was very well looked after and happy. Residents are
treated as individuals, and their needs and feelings are catered for and respected. We, as a family, can only speak in the highest terms of the care Mum received, and very grateful to all the staff at Grevill House, thank you.

Grevill House has a friendly and supportive culture. Mum, at 98 and usually very independent was made to feel at ease. The staff are superb, very friendly and can't do enough. She also enjoyed making friends in the lounge area every day and joining in the activities.
The food was excellent, and it
is nice that the residents get to choose an option. The facilities are very clean and safe.

My mother moved to Grevill House at the end of September 2019, at the age of 85. She was treated with great care, compassion and quickly began to enjoy her time there.
Following a stroke, she received excellent nursing care and was treated with great dignity until her death.
The members of her family
were given great support and were made welcome at any time of day or night. Management was especially good, and the manager always had time for us.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.573)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.573) out of 10 for Grevill House and Ashley Intermediate Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.573 for Grevill House and Ashley Intermediate Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (229 Excellents x 5) + (67 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 323 Ratings = 4.573
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grevill House and Ashley Intermediate Care Centre is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
