My mum was a short-term resident at The Hollies as she needed nursing/end of life care. I have experienced a few care homes with my mother-in-law's needs over the last 2 years and they have been very good, but at The Hollies I experienced a whole new level of care. It is, of course, a lovely building, in a nice location, which is very fit for purpose (more like a hotel!) but it's the staff that are something else. From every member of staff we came across from the receptionist, nurses, care staff and catering we were treated with care and compassion I hadn't experienced before. From the tissues for tears, sympathy, cups of tea and cake it was so supportive and this was just for us family. Mum's care was wonderful too and it made such a difference to an unbearably difficult time.

After it was all over I meant to send a card to express all of this, but I have never done it. So this is my card of appreciation to all at The Hollies.

My mother decided to go in, in April. The care and all members of staff are excellent. They provide lots of love and TLC. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they all go above and beyond to make my mother feel like it's her own home. Family and friends are always welcome with tea and something is always offered to eat. My mother only has to ask once and a member of staff are always available. I feel happy and relieved knowing my mother is in the best possible care.

The Hollies cared for my mother on many occasions. Eight years ago when she had her stroke they provided a holiday place when I was away. When she was in or returning from hospital they gave the care she needed to enable her to return home and finally, they gave a place of care and safety for her passing. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and commitment given by ALL of the staff at The Hollies.

My mother had been in The Hollies for 4 years before she died last week. Her care, for the whole time, has been absolutely fantastic. None of her family or friends ever went in announced and we always found her comfortable and well cared for.

The staff developed a close relationship with my mum, sitting with her all night before she died. They made sure I was there too. Their professionalism and compassion gave my mum quality of both life and death.

My wife has been a resident at The Hollies Care Home for five to six years. I visit her daily. She came to The Hollies from November 2011 until January 2012 and from approximately May 2012 until now, November 2017.
The home has changed and caring, over the years, has become a great deal better.

My opinion is that The Hollies is a very good care home.

My father was a resident at The Hollies for about three years until his death in September 2017. During his time there the care provided was excellent in all aspects. Every member of staff and the management team were involved and treated him with great dignity. As his needs became greater, he moved to a new section of The Hollies where the care was also excellent. During his final days the staff continued to provide very compassionate care. Following his death, he and us as a family were truly looked after. Several staff attended his funeral. I am deeply grateful to The Hollies.

Following a spell in hospital in 2014 my father asked my wife and I to find him a care home. We visited six homes in our area unannounced and following these visits we chose The Hollies, Drake Lane, Dursley, Gloucestershire. We chose The Hollies as it provides end of life care when the time came.
I cannot fault the care and attention that was given to my father, both in life and death. He was happy and contented in their care. When death finally came he was treated with care and dignity.

Our family cannot thank The Hollies and their staff enough for their care of my father.

After viewing 6 care homes in our area unannounced, we chose The Hollies for Dad due to their care and support for us even though we had not made an appt. Dad was of poor health when he arrived due to a spate of hospital admissions and we thought he would only be with us for 6 months, but the excellent care, compassion and understanding during his stay and the dignity and care at end of life, dad was with them for 3 years. We cannot thank The Hollies and their staff enough for all they did to make his stay like he was at HOME.

Our mum came here in May 2017. She is very head strong and very difficult. As a family, we are very happy with her care that she is receiving and couldn't imagine her going to any other home. The Hollies is very very friendly with the most helpful staff. We definitely would recommend this to any other family. Brilliant.

My 93-year-old mum was in The Hollies for only 5 months. During that time she received excellent care. Her room was large and bright and she loved it. She enjoyed the activities and liked being able to choose whatever she would like to eat even if it wasn't on the menu. Sadly she passed peacefully away on 19th August. The team were so caring. They regularly made sure she was comfortable and called me from the room I had been given overnight when her condition worsened. When she passed away the members of the team dressed her in her favourite clothes and she looked so serene. they surrounded her with her nicest photos and ornaments.

My grandad has been a resident here for a few years now and has dementia and mobility problems. We have found the care my grandad receives to be excellent. The staff genuinely care on a personal level. They are very mindful of individual needs and treat my grandad with respect and affection. He is very happy and relaxed in the home and the staff respond very well to changes in care, eg. dietary requirements and medication, and we are very happy that he is receiving relevant care. The staff are very in tune with their residents and pick up on any signs of illness very quickly and respond accordingly. The home itself has a comfortable feel, like your own home and the food standards are very high.

Overall the standard of care is very good and staff are very friendly and caring. Carers were understanding of my mother's needs and supported her appropriately. The management responds well to any concerns, investigates them promptly and puts corrective measures in place as appropriate.

Mum was very content at The Hollies and after settling started to refer to it as "home". She became very fond of many staff members and took an interest in them and their families. Staff brought in their new babies, young children and dogs to visit her. Staff were very good humoured. Mum often enjoyed a laugh with them.

There is a full, well-designed activities programme which usually has something each week that can be accessed by residents with more complex needs. My mother's condition meant that she could not participate in many activities but we were allowed the use of The Hollies wheelchair car which meant that I could take her out for short trips and lunches.

My mother is a resident at The Hollies and myself and my family have been impressed by the time and patience the staff has put in, to ensure that my mother has settled as well as can be expected.
Mother has a lovely bedroom and enjoys helping out with jobs and going on many day trips which help to keep her occupied. The staff are very kind to her and have her laughing regularly.
We feel totally at ease as a family, to know that mother is being cared for so competently and that she is happy and settled.
The staff is always happy to answer any questions you may have and nothing is too much trouble for them.

I am pleased that we were able to secure a place in this lovely home and appreciate all that the staff does to keep my mother happy and well.

I cannot recommend The Hollies highly enough. My mother has been resident there for more than a year and has received excellent care throughout her stay. I visit her almost every day - at various times - and am therefore entirely confident in my assessment of the service they provide. The staff team and the atmosphere they create are friendly, warm, considerate, and fun. The environment is clean, attractive, and yet still homely. The management are both readily available and helpful. It is hard to imagine where you could find a better care home, and such a relief to have Mum in such capable and considerate hands.

I am very pleased with the care that my mum is receiving at The Hollies. I looked at a lot of homes before choosing The Hollies. I felt that they offered the most, including going on trips and having entertainment in house. The rooms are very nice and I was able to bring lots of mum's personal belongings to make her room individual to her. Of course the care is the most important consideration, the staff all care for mum very well. She says she is happy here and they treat my mum with dignity and respect while still being friendly, they see the individual person in there own right.
