Overall Experience
Upon arrival at the care home I was warmly greeted and then escorted to my room. The room was bright and cheerful with a vase of fresh flowers on the windowsill. I was then shown how to operate the call system, adjust the bed and how the tv worked.
during my stay the care staff not only responded quickly to the call button but provided caring help with my personal care - washing, showering, toileting and dressing. Senior staff would reguarly "pop in" to ask if I was comfortable and if I needed any additional support. There was a daily programme of activities for residents who were encouraged to participate.
I was recovering from from surgery for a replacement hip and I was encouraged to complete my daily exercise regime.

I benefited from my weeks respite care at Richmond, Painswick.

Having had a hip replacement I stayed at Richmond Painswick for just over 3 weeks. The overall care and commitment of all the staff were excellent at all times. The staff's attitude was supportive, friendly and encouraging throughout my stay. The food was well presented with a wide choice although at times would have benefited from being hotter. I am sure my general health and recovery have been enhanced by the care I received at Richmond Painswick.

I was in Richmond Painswick for 1 week to enable my carer to have a break. I do not like being away from home where I know what I can do and can't do. I suffer from cancer and lack of mobility (Polio 80 years ago). I was treated in Richmond Painswick with very much kindness and respect. Life for me was easy, with everything to hand and all meals provided. The bed (smaller than my own) was comfortable and helpfully adaptable. When I needed help the panic button brought really comforting help.

My aunt spent her final weeks in the care home at Richmond Painswick. I cannot fault the patience, understanding and compassion that was shown to her despite her often challenging behaviour. I was able to trust in the care that I knew she was receiving and appreciated the support that was given to me and my family and my aunt's friends during a difficult time.

The staff were unfailingly caring, patient, respectful and cheerful. They took the time to get to know my aunt and try to find ways of giving her a happier life.

The care and attention I received from the staff at Richmond was superb. Recovering from a shoulder replacement I arrived at Richmond to a warm welcome and from the minute I stepped inside the door the staff were fantastic. Every member of staff always had a smile and ready to help.

I only stayed for 1 week's respite care at Richmond Painswick Village but I would highly recommend this care home to anyone wishing to spend a lovely time in a place to rest and recuperate for as long as they can. I wish I could have stayed for longer but hope to visit again.

Very comfortable, clean and well managed. An unusual and lovely development among beautiful, peaceful scenery. I found the staff to be very kind and helpful also.

Richmond Painswick is a location to die for. Richmond Village does not detract from this. Staff were on hand to unload luggage and made us very welcome. Facilities in our suite were better than those we enjoyed at a five-star hotel we stayed at last month, including a floral basket and well-stocked kitchen. An adjustable bed and armchair were provided for my disabled wife. The restaurant menu changed daily and the quality bettered the five-star hotel's, wi-fi access was available in the well-stocked library. We enjoyed an afternoon at the wellness spa and lovely pool.

We are both extremely impressed from the moment we arrived. We were there for one week only for a 'retreat'. Following a hospital stay for one of us and for 'respite' for the other (the carer). From the welcome we received and the respect with which we were treated by all the staff to the care taken in all the little details provided to add to our comfort. We could not fault it. Nothing was too much trouble.

We were made very welcome and found the general atmosphere of the home to be happy and helpful. My husband needed extra care due to his lack of balance. This was always given willingly and it enabled us both to enjoy a few days free from the worries and responsibilities of running our own home while in our 90's. (93 and 91) There was always an adequate choice of menu with well-cooked food. Thank you all at Richmond Painswick.

To write a balanced review, I shall start with the positive. On arrival, in July, my mother did need nursing care until her stitches and catheter were removed and this was dealt with very professionally. The carers were courteous and helpful throughout her 8-week stay. The physio team worked well with her.

On the negative front, there was often only a ratio of 1 carer to 8 residents which resulted in my mother's buzzer for assistance often being left for more than 15 mins which is distressing for a deaf/blind 100-year-old lady whose mobility had been lost. There was virtually no 1 to 1 communication for her with the staff and there were no activities that were appropriate for her. Staff knew that she loved being outside in the open air, but she was very rarely taken out.

My stay at Painswick in June was a joy.
I was most impressed at how well I was looked after and the friendliness of the staff, as well as some of the permanent residents who would have known I was only there for a week.
As a keen gardener, I was impressed by the pathways, made an interesting walk.

Well done to all of you.

Came here for a 'holiday with care', as the principal carer at home for my husband.
Though not 'ill' myself, I was not 'well'.
The staff could not have been more helpful, kind or caring.
Required a visit to local GP, all taken care of.

Did not really participate in activities.

My wife was looked after for two weeks whilst I was abroad on business. From the initial interview to arrange her care, through to her leaving for home, the help and assistance with everything was excellent. The staff could not have been more caring not helpful and I thank them all for being so kind and attentive to our needs.
