The team quickly picked up / sensed Dad was not his usual self, contacted the "out of hours service" the GP then spoke to me and we agreed on a plan. He went to A+E had bloods etc done, an infection was diagnosed, medicine prescribed and was back to Wessex in less than 24 hrs. Also I would like to thank the "Activities" ladies for getting Dad back out into "The Big Wide World"
Kind regards,
Wessex House
My brother, who has severe learning disabilities, advanced dementia, and complex diabetes, has now lived at Wessex House for over 18 months. (He previously lived in supported housing, which could no longer meet his increasing health needs.) He is exceptionally well cared for at Wessex House. He has 1:1 care during the day, but from the outset all the staff have sought to fully integrate him in the home and engage him in the many activities that take place, as much as his varying needs permit. Wessex House is always very clean and tidy, the food is good (the kitchen work hard to meet his complicated dietary needs whilst still providing variety and food he likes). When there, I'm always offered food and drink and the staff from the manager to cleaning staff are always very welcoming. Clinical staff keep us well informed and liaise very effectively with the nearby surgery to maximise his quality of life. And staff turnover seems very low - testament to this friendly and well-run home.
Dear Emma, thank you for your wonderful feedback about the care your brother receives at Wessex House. It is our privilege to support him to feel a part of life in our home, and enable him to join in with the activities he chooses, whilst ensuring that his care needs and dietary requirements can be...
Wessex House looked after the residents very, very well. The food is very good, and managment is also good and very helpful. The activities are also very good, and the reception is very good and helpful. The cleanliness is very good, and our rooms are well looked after. Laundry does a very good job.
Dear Paul, thank you for sharing a review of Wessex House in Somerton. We are thrilled that you rate all aspects of your experience as 5-stars, and we will share your feedback with the team. Kind regards, Wessex House
My father was in Wessex House for palliative care. The staff were always polite, capable, caring and responsive. The Manager, Lorna, provided really excellent service and was awesome. We were very happy all round with the excellent care the home provided. Thank you.
Kind regards,
Wessex House
The coffee mornings are very popular, the staff make it feel special, with a raffle and quizzes and our yesterdays leaflet, very welldone. Overall the home has a family feel, I always welcome when I visit.
It's especially lovely to hear your kind comments about...
Since my sister has been at Wessex House (approximately 6 months) I've not found any staff member - for example carers, nurses, cleaners, cooks or any others especially the events organisers that were not willing to help at any time.
Best regards,
Wessex House
Overall the care home is very well run and it has made my husband very welcome it's bright clean and seems to be a happy place, the food seems good and his room is spacious and very clean, there seems to be plenty of things to do if my husband wants to.
Kind regards,
Wessex House
The care and respect shown in his final days from all staff was incredible.
Care Homes often get bad press, Wessex House exceeded all my expectations and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a place of safety, comfort and care.
Kind regards,
Wessex House
Dad was taken into care at short notice. From day one he was welcomed. All the staff no matter who they were, were kind, attentive and respectful at all times. Senior staff kept the family informed of any changes, or took him the phone to chat to distance family. Although a short stay, at the final hours dad was given the necessary attention, and the family support, but also left to grieve as required.
Best regards,
Wessex House

Our Mum was at Wessex House for 2.5yrs until she passed away last month. Accepting she needed professional help was difficult for us but from day 1 Lorna and her team looked after Mum and us. Their care has been exemplary but their compassion shows no bounds. All the staff have stretched their care beyond Mum to us as a family. Even at the end we were able to be with her and all the night staff kept checking in on us. On a practical level, the home has always been spotlessly clean, the food excellent and plentiful. We were welcome anytime. We have built up a lovely relationship with the staff, we miss them now we arent visiting every day. The other thing we noted.. the majority of the staff that were there when Mum was admitted were still there 2.5 yrs later so it was good to have that continuity but its a sign of a good home that the staff turnover is so low. We will always be grateful that if Mum couldn't be at home she was in the next best place at Wessex.
Best regards,
Wessex House
My mum has been at Wessex House for nearly a year now with quite advanced dementia. I have always found the staff friendly, patient and careful. They are kind to, and patient with mum in all the interactions I have witnessed.
Best regards,
Wessex House
A well-run and happy home. The staff are really kind and helpful.

My husband was a resident for approximately 6 weeks. From emergency admission to his passing, he was always treated with the utmost kindness, courtesy and respect from all staff. My family and I interacted daily with everyone at various times of day and night; with cleaners, laundry and kitchen staff, care assistants and nursing professionals and the administrative and management teams. Nothing was too much trouble and there seemed to be a way for everything to be accommodated, albeit when short-staffed, it sometimes took a little longer. There appears to be a good relationship with the nearby doctors' surgery (also short staffed!) with regular reviews. The Manager, Lorna, is confident, friendly and caring. She and her senior team made themselves available to me when I needed them most and even after just a short acquaintanceship, I would welcome any of the staff as friends. The impression is of a workplace where everyone smiles, even under pressure, and is respected for what they do.
Best regards, Wessex House
My husband has been a resident for 11 months. He has always been treated with care and kindness in a most professional way. I have been contacted promptly when any problems have arisen, and these have been dealt with by the nursing staff in a competent manner.
Best regards,
Wessex House
I find Wessex House a friendly place, the staff are all approachable and helpful. My husband enjoys his food and the menu looks good to me. Residents are encouraged to attend the activates, music being a favourite. The home is always clean, comfortable and welcoming. The residents clothes look clean which is important to me.

Our mum has been a resident in Wessex House for over 2 years and we have found their care to be excellent. Mum recently celebrated her 80th birthday and they helped us mark this milestone and made the moment special.
Best regards,
Wessex House
My Mum needed a short period of care whilst convalescing from a hospital stay. The standard of care was excellent and the staff were all extremely kind to Mum. Her room was spacious and the whole place was very clean. Whenever I visited the staff were always very welcoming.

It was our pleasure to support your Mum's convalescence following her hospital stay, and we wish her all the best for her ongoing recovery. Best regards, Wessex House.
We reviewed 3 homes before choosing Wessex House. The light level, cleanliness and kitchen impressed us. Since arriving, the attitude of the staff and their professionalism have surprised us. They are more flexible than I was at home, so if meals are missed (sleeping) she is fed when awake, even at night. The staff are very observant and understanding, and the whole team communicate with each other. Spoke to a member of staff you don't know, and they know more than you do about food, sleep patterns etc. Importantly, they are always available. They also keep an eye on me!

We strive to provide the highest quality care and support - not only to our residents, but to their loved ones as well. It means the world to...
I feel I need to highlight the staff kindness and compassion, the quality of care, and a welcoming environment that feels like home. The staff went above and beyond to create a positive and comfortable experience for both dad and the family that visited him.The rooms and general living spaces are immaculately clean and well maintained. All rooms are bright, cheerful, welcoming and where dad felt safe and happy. Dad was always offered a excellent variety of quality food options that were very appetising and cooked by their own chef! I cannot thank the (Management Team) for their kindness and also the clinical staff who were always on hand to answer any questions we had.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a beautiful review for Wessex House, especially at this sad time. It was an honour to care for your dear dad and to support him to be as comfortable and content as he could be in his final days. Please accept our heartfelt condolences for your loss, and know that you remain in our thoughts. Best regards,Wessex House
