After four turbulent weeks between wards in the wonderful hospital, my grandma came to Barchester Milford House Care Home for end-of-life care. The last weeks of her 97 years were dignified and peaceful. The manager and all her team could not do enough for us at all hours of the day and night. Grandma was afforded excellent nursing care in the quiet and comfort of a five-star hotel. A tremendous thank you to all and I felt such a connection to them, I asked if I could volunteer there.
Firstly, please accept our condolences for your loss but thank you so much for taking the time to let us know your experience of Milford House. I am so pleased that you felt that we were able to make a difference and provide the support and care that your grandmother needed in her final weeks. It...
My stepmother moved here in Autumn 2019 and has been very well cared for - treated with respect, cheerful friendliness and kindness. She felt part of the community of residents and staff. She became very unwell and received end-of-life care at home which helped give her peace. I am very grateful to the team for their care.
From all the Milford team please accept our condolences on the loss of your stepmother. It was our privilege to care for her over the last 5 years and it is so nice to hear that she felt such a part of our community which is what we strive for, and is part of what I feel makes Milford special. I will pass on your kind comments to the teams in the home as it will mean a lot to them. Kind regards
I thought that the food was poor quality and didn't enjoy the meals.
The day trip on a boat was most enjoyable.
Overall, it turned out to be a not very enjoyable but expensive two weeks.
Thanks for your review. We're disappointed to read some of your comments in relation to our Milford House Care Home. On speaking with the home, we understand any concerns raised during your stay were addressed and acted on. We're glad that you enjoyed the boat trip and we want to thank you for...
Thank you for helping him to end his life in peace and with dignity.
Thank you for your kind words and please accept our condolences on the loss of your friend. We are so pleased that you were able to visit and spend time with him and that you all felt supported as we understand how precious this time with a friend or loved one can be. I will make sure that our staff teams get to hear your feedback as it will mean a lot to them as well.
One cannot expect perfection as we who have been asked to make the judgements have good days and bad days. Routines get disturbed. However, my 90th birthday last week showed up the loving, inspired party planner's skills; getting to know me, what and why I love the birds, flowers and butterflies to decorate the dining table making it worthy of the delicious meals the chefs create. The festive air brought out happy greetings from those coming and going on daily rounds. No better care home is there.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience of Milford House with us and we are so pleased that your birthday party was such a success. We were honoured to be able to play a part in making the day special for you and your guests. Thank you for being so positive about our home. There is always room for improvement and we all strive very hard to improve our standards continuously.
My mother had requested a bird-themed table setting for her 90th birthday party. Milford House Care Home surpassed all expectations - providing a log from one carer's garden that was decorated with little bird figures, including a nut hatch and a woodpecker. It was truly delightful and quite beautiful. They were so kind towards her and I think have made one person extremely happy and created amazing memories of a blessed day. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words which I will pass on to the team. We were so delighted to be able to contribute towards your special celebrations, and it is lovely to know that what we did went towards making the day even more memorable.
It was a lovely idea, in a relaxed setting, with wine and table decorations.
The team are always looking for new activities that are suitable for the residents, including outings.
I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the lunch and will pass on your kind comments to the activity team. We work very hard at Milford House to create a varied activity programme that caters to a wide range of interests and particularly try to put on activities and events that involve family and friends who are always welcome to attend any activities that we have scheduled.
Perhaps something could be done to get them together to watch some matches in the Euros too (ladies also invited!)
Please do it again.
Thank you for your review. It's great to hear that you and your dad enjoyed this special event. We are all looking forward to watching some matches in the Euros and the England game was on yesterday at Milford House where all of us supported the team. Our activity team provide a range of...
My friend was very reluctant and apprehensive about having to go into a care home. When his circumstances changed and he moved into Milford House Care Home, he soon settled in and is now extremely happy to be living there. He is very well looked after and enjoys the delicious food they provide. All the staff are warm, friendly and very helpful. There is a lovely family atmosphere in the home. I can't praise them enough, especially the manager, for the wonderful work they do.
Thank you, Carol, for giving such a lovely review of our beautiful home. As the manager of the Milford House, I am so proud of such an amazing team, and they work so hard to ensure all residents and relatives get the care and attention they deserve. We are one big family and grateful to have you as part of it!
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the wonderful staff at Milford House Nursing Home. Dad was a resident for just over 2 years. The staff worked with Dad and saw his personality which allowed him to feel comfortable and safe, such a gift for his family. Special thanks to the activity team for the outings that Dad so enjoyed and gave meaning to his life. Also thank you for the love, care and compassion shown to all the family.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are really sorry for the loss of your Dad, our sincere condolences to your family. I am so glad you and your Dad had these experiences. Everyone will be delighted to read your feedback, thank you. With my best wishes to you and your family, Aga.
My sister and I were extremely emotional when our 90-year-old mother was deemed unsafe to be at home, due to her frailty and dementia. Barchester Milford House Care Home has dispelled all of our worries. All of the staff are so kind and caring and we thank them all. Also, our thanks to the manager for working so hard to secure a place for Mum. We could not be happier with Milford House, a safe and secure environment with a happy atmosphere.
Thank you for your kind words, bringing a loved one to a care home can be a worrying and daunting prospect and we are so pleased that it has worked out for your mum. I will pass on your comments to our home teams as well as the care that we give is always a team effort.
The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful.
A few details:
1) I was a bit disappointed in the 'institutional-style' food. I realise that you are constrained here by the needs of some of the residents. It was disappointing not to have any form of dressing for the salads - surely a sachet of vinaigrette or mayonnaise could be provided. 'Unimaginative' would be my description.
2) I felt that the management side was a bit weak. I'd asked when arriving if a visit from a chiropodist to cut my toenails could be arranged. I was told it would be, but nothing happened.
3) I got the impression that you are understaffed, not helped by the kitchen refurbishment.
4) The housekeeping was a bit chaotic: dirty towels left on the toilet floor weren't cleared away.
Thank you so much for your feedback as it helps us to understand how and where we need to improve. I am pleased to hear that you were warmly welcomed and felt that overall the time you spent with us was worthwhile. However, there were clearly aspects that could have been improved upon and I can...
Initially, she did not like it, but by the end of her stay, she did not want to go home.
The staff were all lovely and made my mother's stay really super.
Thank you for your lovely comment. We understand that coming into a nursing home can be very difficult, and we are so pleased that by the end of her stay, she found it to be a positive experience.
I conclude my stay at Barchester Milford House Care Home with having met wonderful people, who have shown me care and respect. My respite turned out to be a wonderful holiday. I sincerely hope that I shall be accepted back if the time arose that my daughter needed a break away again. I have loved everyone that I have met, I shall take away treasured memories. I pray that God will bless you all and those you care for. Please continue the good work in every department.
Thank you so much for your very kind words which are much appreciated by all the team here at Milford. We loved having you to stay with us here at Milford and would love to see you back any time that your daughter goes on holiday.
Would not hesitate for one second to recommend it to prospective residents and their families.
Thank you for your kind words. The team at Milford House work incredibly hard to ensure our residents are happy and have a home-from-home experience.
5 stars!
Thank you so much for your lovely comments about our home and I am delighted to hear that you found Milford so friendly and welcoming. The entire staff team, whatever their role, work hard to support our residents and I am so pleased that your experience of the home reflected this.
His needs altered in 2018 and I became unable to care for him at home, and he was admitted to Milford House on a permanent basis. The staff have been kind and supportive to him and me since then and have nurtured him back to better health, and he is happy to stay there.
This year the staff supported him in arranging a (surprise) proposal on Valentine's Day, even helping him obtain an engagement ring, and also assisted him, and attended, our wedding in July on his 70th birthday.
The staff make us feel part of a large family and I am so glad we were able to find such a fantastic place for him to stay.
Thank you for your lovely feedback which is much appreciated. We have been so fortunate to be able to assist and be part of the special events you have shared this year - everyone at the home so enjoyed hearing about them and being part of the celebrations - they gave everyone such a boost to be able to share in your joy.
My mother has been very happy at Milford for the two weeks respite care stay. The staff are all very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. They all smile! My mother says all the food is delicious to the point that she is now worried about weight gain! Excellent.
Thank you so much for your comments. We are all delighted to hear that your mother enjoyed her stay. We are so fortunate to have a great staff team, many of whom have been here a considerable time and love what they do! I will also pass on your comment to our chef.
My friend says that the 3-course meals at lunchtime are of a high standard and there is a varied menu each day. It is just like being in a restaurant.
Your comments are much appreciated and we are so delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the art exhibition. This is something new for us at the home and it was such a success that we are hosting another group of artists early in the new year so hopefully you will be able to enjoy this when you come again.
Went to visit my friend today, the standard of care he is receiving is excellent, the staff were lovely and attend to all his needs and made me feel most welcome, the manager came over and introduced herself and took the time to have a chat, all in all, a very warm positive experience.
It is so nice to hear that you felt welcome and that your experience of Milford was such a positive one. It is always a pleasure to welcome people into our lovely home and especially to hear your feedback.
