The staff looked after my mum so well. They were always kind and friendly. Her personal care was always well done. She enjoyed having her hair and nails done. Staff always had time to sit and talk to her which was a real comfort. The gardens are beautiful and mum loved sitting in them.

A lovely home, with lovely people. The staff are so kind and caring and support family members so well too. My nana's room was clean, light and spacious. She enjoyed the food - especially the cake in the afternoon. The staff make birthdays very special for all the residents. A special place.

My nana was very well looked after at Fitzwarren House. The staff were kind and helpful. Her needs were always catered for. She enjoyed all the activities, especially the singing ones. She loved walking in the beautiful grounds and sitting with the home's cats - Fitz and Warren. A wonderful place for her to live until her death.

My mother-in-law was always treated with the utmost respect during her time at Fitzwarren House. The staff were extremely professional and caring. My wife (as next of kin) was kept informed at all times of any issues affecting my mother-in-law. The home and gardens were beautifully looked after. My mother-in-law loved the food too!

When I visit mum I usually try and have a quick catch-up with the care staff in mum's unit before going to mum's room just to find out how mum has been since my last visit. This week I was extremely surprised to be told mum wasn't in her room but in the lounge; Mum hasn't been out of her room since late last year; through her own choice she has remained in her room and more recently in bed due to her rapidly advancing dementia and balance issues. The staff have gone out of their way to find a means of getting mum from her room to the lounge. This week it was like seeing a new mum. Dementia is so cruel and while mum still doesn't know who I am and probably never will again, this small gesture by the staff made the best visit I have had with mum for such a long time. Mum was a lot more engaged with her surrounding, a change of scene has done her the world of good. I cannot thank the staff enough for all the care, love and time given to mum and me it makes such a difference.

We moved our mum to residential care at the end of May when care in the home became impossible as her dementia progressed. We have been delighted to see that she settled into Fitzwarren House immediately. The staff have all been so helpful, cheerful and friendly both during the transition and subsequently. They clearly enjoy their job there and when we visit we can see they genuinely care about all the residents. We are very grateful to find a space for mum here.

My mother had only been in the care home for a few weeks before she passed away. I found the staff to be very caring, helpful and patient, and my mother was well supported. The staff have also been extremely kind and helpful to me following my mother's passing.

Review from S T (Sister of Resident) published on 2 February 2022 Submitted via Postal Card

My sister was in Fitzwarren House care home for nearly three years. From the very first day, I found the staff very caring and welcoming. Whenever I paid a visit to my sister, the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Her room was spotless and she was able to bring all the things she treasured with her. As her health deteriorated, she received excellent medical care and I was kept informed regularly. A lovely home which I would recommend to anyone.

My entire experience of working with Fitzwarren House for the whole seventeen months mum was with you was excellent. We knew she was safe and well cared for. The staff provided mum with support and friendship at a time when she was unable to cope independently. Towards end of life, the staff gave me the support and help needed to get through a difficult period.

Visited my mother on an inside visit, tested before entering and personal protective equipment put on well administered. Met Mum in a room where we spent a lovely 45 minutes together, I took a cake and iced coffee at Mums asking which she ate and drank as if we were out for coffee. We enjoyed looking out into the garden, at end of the visit I gave Mum a hug and said I would see her again soon. Before I left I made an appointment to visit her again the following week, a very enjoyable visit.

It was difficult to honestly and accurately fill in the boxes below because of visiting restrictions but have found staff to be helpful. Because of mum's condition we are unable to ask her what she thinks and unfortunately she misses out on all the good activities provided.

When my brother came to the home in the first lockdown of Covid he was poorly, unresponsive and sad. With all the care and nursing that he has received he is so different. He now responds to everyone and is so happy every time I visit. The staff are lovely and caring. It is so reassuring for me to know that he is so well looked after.
