Overall Experience

This care home became like a second home to my family. My Grandad has the pleasure of being here for 3 years. The care given to himself and my family was incredible. They couldn’t have done more for us. They made us feel so comfortable within. The carers became our friends, as well as some of the residents. Unfortunately, my Grandad passed December 2018, but the carers did so much for us from that point. Trying to make things a little easier for us. Being there, crying with us, hugging us, being at the funeral to support us and show my Grandad their love. He was so loved in that home. And I miss going there. Couldn’t say a bad word about anything or anyone in that place. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking care of my Grandad. Thank you again.

Mum was well looked after for the whole period she lived here. She enjoyed the surroundings, the food and the activities she chose to engage in. She had a good relationship with the staff, who did their best to meet all her needs, particularly as her health deteriorated. I would recommend anyone looking for residential care to consider this home.

This is a lovely home where the staff truly care for residents and every effort is made to ensure that the resident's individual likes and dislikes are catered for. Spiritual needs are met by the lovely chaplain. The standard of hygiene is very good and it does not smell like an institution. Rooms are comfortable and every effort is made to help them become real homes for residents. Staff are caring and compassionate and respectful. Visitors are treated very well too.

My husband spent almost three years here until he sadly passed away recently. Fitzwarren House stayed clean, fresh and welcoming, as did the flowers on entering the home.

The care and consideration given by all the nursing and care staff towards my sons and myself couldn't have been better.

My father sadly passed away towards the end of last month while he was staying at Fitzwarren House after a long illness. The care he received over the 3 years he was at the nursing home was nothing short of exceptional and the compassion shown by each and every member of staff, including at the time of his passing and the days after, was truly commendable.

I would like to thank all the staff and management for all the hard work and dedication it takes to run a successful and honest care home. My mum was very well looked after right up to the time of her passing on the 7th August 2018. I was always greeted with friendship and compassion, and the attention to detail relating to care was, in my opinion, exemplary. The activities and facilities are very good, from singing to games, and the meals are as good as home cooked. My mum was always treated with dignity and for that, I want to thank you all.

My Mum got diagnosed with Dementia around 2012 and moved into Fitzwarren House in February 2018 after my Dad could no longer look after her.
The care my Mum received was amazing, all the staff I met on my visits were friendly, kind and loving towards my Mum, and would always phone my Dad if anything was wrong with Mum.
They are totally professional and I am so glad my Dad chose this home for Mum.
The building is always clean, walls, windows, carpets, rooms, bathrooms always spotless.
The garden is a lovely place to see and the 'Gnome's Home' is a lovely place to sit and chat.
The food always smells nice when we visit at lunchtime, and I was always offered a drink or food!
My Mum passed in early August 2018.

I cannot thank the staff enough for their loving care.

MHA Fitzwarren House has looked after my mother for the last two years. She had Dementia with Lewy bodies that caused her to hallucinate a lot.
She came from her own home having lived independently, but with home help. It took her some time to get settle in. Initially, she suffered from depression. But the staff were most caring and helpful, nothing too much for them and mum settled into the routine joining in the many activities and Christian services held each week.
Another part of her condition was that she suffered low blood pressure that led to her having many falls. Each time, the staff were very cautious and did all they could to help her. We were kept informed of incidents and if we were not able to be there, to go and stay with her to the hospital.
In her last days, the staff could not have been more caring and took turns to sit and read to her, hold her hand.
I cannot recommend them highly enough. All staff and the team have been so loving and kind and not just professional.

Thank you.

After my cousin had a severe stroke aged 59 it fell to myself to locate him in a care home. After evaluating several homes in the Swindon area I decided to recommend to him Fitzwarren Homes. With no experience in this field before it was a daunting task. However, my concerns were soon overcome by the manager, admin, nursing and care staff at Fitzwarren House. 5*.

This care home is exceptional for care, support and standards. The staff understand the "humour" in us all. They understand and care for the resident and the family members. The nurses and carers at Fitzwarren House looked after my mother from July 2016 until her death on Christmas Eve 2017. Fitzwarren House is not just a nursing home, it is a real home for the residents and my mother received consistent and excellent care throughout her time there. She was often frustrated at the loss of her mobility and independence and could be obstinate and difficult but all the staff took this in their stride and provided her with the affection, support and attention she needed, particularly as her health declined in the latter months. I am so grateful to all the staff and could not have wished for a better place for my mother to spend the last eighteen months of her life. Thank you so much to all of you.

Our aunt enjoyed 5 years of loving care at this nursing home. All the staff - nursing and carers gave great personal care to her, and thanks to that care she was able to achieve her 100th birthday, which was celebrated with great excitement. The home is very well managed and maintained to a high standard.

As a long-term member of the Methodist Church, she valued the spiritual support of the homes chaplain, and the services provided. She was lucky to secure a place here, and all her family much appreciate all they did for her at this special time in her life. In the end, they provided a very dignified conclusion to her long life.

My mother was a resident from 2010 until May 2017 when she died at the age of 90. She was treated with dignity and respect. She was always smartly dressed and care was taken to keep her hair washed and styled. Birthdays were celebrated with a cake and a gathering by the staff. All the staff worked as a team to create a homely atmosphere which helped to keep the residents calm. I felt happy to leave my mother in the care of such professional staff.
