Prompt washing and returning own labelled clothes is a sign good care. Personal hygiene of frail residents is good.
Care was discussed on arrival, but I never saw a plan. Modifications were often discussed over the phone or quickly when I was visiting. I was pleased that there was a monthly review and that nursing staff could request a visit from local Doctors / Practioners. I was helped with hospital appointments but tying up with social services/ hospital follow ups were too spread out making implementation difficult.
The activities coordinator is caring and enthusiastic but the lounge is too small for the mix of chairs/ bulky wheelchairs for so many residents to be in the room at once, especially for visiting entertainers.
Could the two lounges be used or a half hour show be repeated?
I visited Ladymead frequently between October 2025 and July 2026. I found the staff, without exception, to be friendly, caring and patient. The care and nursing needs of my friend were appropriately and sympathetically met as his condition deteriorated. His personal hygiene was always attended to; his own clothes regularly washed and returned to him. Residents' rooms vary. My friend's room was disappointingly small, compared to some of the rooms we were shown on initial visit; some furnishings needed updating/replacing. Of concern is the overcrowding of the lounge when many residents are moved in for entertainments. Could the programme be shorter and delivered to half the residents at a time? Ideally, the hard-working Activities Coordinator needs an assistant so she can concentrate on the activities, without breaking off to e.g. help with drinks. Each week's activities programme needs to be displayed on the noticeboard/emailed to family to help them plan visits.
On the evening of dads arrival, the staff were so supportive and very welcoming.
It felt like a family organisation from all the staff members. Clothing was laundered exceptionally quickly and every effort was made to accommodate Dads dietary preferences. I would recommend Ladymead to anyone considering care for their relatives within swindon. Thank you all.
I am so grateful to all the staff at Ladymead for taking care of my mum. The staff are kind, warm and friendly. They treat their residents with respect and are willing to go the extra mile to accommodate. When visiting, family members were always made to feel very welcome. Thank you for everything.
Thank you Glen for taking the time to to give us a nice review.

I can't talk highly enough about the care received by my mother at Ladymead. Mum always dreaded care homes but when there was no other option both she and we, her family, were so glad we chose Ladymead. She had many needs throughout the day and night, all of which were met with compassion and professionalism. During her many hospital stays she longed to be back at Ladymead which she came to consider her home where she felt safest. The management and staff are excellent. The quality of personal care and nursing was top notch and we always had full confidence that on the many occasions when her health deteriorated she would be properly taken care of, action would be taken in a timely manner and we were always kept informed and involved. The home was always kept clean and well maintained and any maintenance or alterations to her room was quickly taken care of. I would highly recommend.
This care home looked after my dad whilst he was very poorly. He only stayed with them for a week but the respect and care he recieved was amazing. Not only did they care very well for my dad at the end if his life, they were also amazing to us his children. Ensuring we had tea/ sandwiches a bed to sleep in when we needed to stay over night. I cannot praise them enough . X

The staff were all helpful and caring and did their very best to look after our Dad during his stay. Communication from the Care Home was exceptional and we were very impressed how quickly the whole team came to know us by name.
We would like to express our appreciation to the whole Ladymead team for everything that they did.
Thank you for the excellent feedback and giving us the opportunity to know and look after your dad.

Placing Mum in a home was one of the hardest decisions we've ever made. She longed to stay in her own home, and it broke our hearts to move her. But the team made that transition gentle and reassuring. With their care, she quickly became comfortable, and we knew she was safe. The staff managed her complex condition with great kindness. Visiting friends commented that she was clearly well cared for. Maggie on reception was a constant source of welcome, always greeting us with warmth.
Thank you for the excellent feedback
Kind regards
I have been visiting Ladymead frequently for eleven months and my administration for the place continues to grow. The facilities are comfortable, care is taken with appearance, the organisation is effectively run with notable notable equality and cooperation. Many staff have worked here for decades; new comers are welcomed and helped to integrate, everyone, whatever their specific role, clearly cares about residents and visitors, helping whatever needed. Comments, concerns, requests, receive prompts, undefensive, helpful response. Permitting everything is an atmosphere of welcome, kindness, friendliness, good humor and respect forindividuals.
Thank you for the excellent comments about the team and care at Ladymead.
Many thanks
They were ALL really friendly, chatty ,always filling me in on how dad had been. The office had lots of extra paperwork dealing with the Council and was so patient. The entertainment staff really enthusiastic, there was always something going on. Even the cheff could often be found chatting with the residents in the lounge.
The personal carers were great, they seemed to genuinly love their job and my dad! You'd walk in and find the Nurse or the Manager or the lovely maintenance guy chatting to dad about cricket which he loved.
They all seemed so genuinly sorry when my dad passed, and even the enthusiastic co ordinator who was on her holiday phoned me a week later for a nice chat about dad.
They are a great Team at Ladymead, with a real family feel and I am so pleased we chose for dad to stay with them.My thanks to all of you.
I have often had to contact the Manager to help organise things for Dad's recent move to Ladymead. He has been quick to respond and help with any queries and the admin staff have given prompt replies and great pro-active advice. The home has a wonderful entertainments organiser who plans many varied activities and is actively enquiring about residents' interests in order to organise events that would appeal to them. The food has been excellent, tasty and a great variety provided. Ladymead is filled with many cheerful, kind and caring staff. Thank you to all !

“We offer fantastic care and we have happy residents. The home has an excellent reputation and is run by a highly dedicated and skilled team. Some of the staff have been with us for 10 and 20 years! My team encourages the residents in a heartfelt way- it is not just a job.”

“We are a highly friendly team with longevity. We offer an open-door policy at the home - we are very approachable and have time for all the staff. We all help each other in different areas and everyone is treated like extended family.”

“I’ve been working at Ladymead since 2009. My favourite part of my day is arriving at work knowing I will see my work colleagues and of course our lovely residents. I first worked at Ladymead in 1997; leaving in 2000 to bring our children up. Then, after 9 years, an opportunity came up and my old job became available and I was blessed to be employed again, it was like I had never left. This has been the highlight of my career.”

What makes me good at my job is being a happy person who enjoys chatting with our residents, and my extensive kitchen experience. The thing I enjoy most about working in a care home is spending time with our residents. It's a pleasure to build relationships with them and see the smiles on their faces.

I love caring for our residents and making sure their environment is clean and tidy.

I have been a dedicated maintenance professional at Ladymead since 2021, known for my honesty and reliability. I find joy in seeing how my work positively impacts residents, making them happy. Outside of work, I'm an avid cyclist, embracing the freedom and thrill of the open road.

I wanted to work at Ladymead to make a difference in our residents' lives through love and happiness. Being a compassionate person who worries about maintaining respect and dignity for our residents is essential to be good at my role.

I love working at Ladymead Care Home because the manager is kind, the team is supportive, and the environment is welcoming. Being a care assistant means being patient, compassionate, and truly caring, and that’s what I bring to my role every day. My favourite part of the day is listening to our residents and helping meet their needs. It’s a privilege to make a positive difference in their lives.

I enjoy working at Ladymead because it’s a good environment with great teamwork. In my role, it’s important to be patient and hardworking, and I take pride in what I do every day. I deliver residents’ laundry and help in the kitchen, and I’m happy knowing my work supports their comfort. I always look forward to working with the team and being part of a positive day.
