Ladymead Care Home

Mum has recently moved to Ladymead. It’s early days however, I wanted to say what a fantastic welcome she has received. After 3 months in hospital Mum has lost all her confidence and had become a different person after enduring hospital care, she has become so confused and upset. Right from the word go Ladymead have understood this, even in Covid times I was able to deliver items prior to Mum's arrival to personalise her room. After the appropriate isolation and cleaning, the team set Mum's room up so thoughtfully. They sent me photos of her room set up for her arrival. I must admit to having a tear as Mum had not been cared for like this for so long. Even before her arrival, she was being treated as a person, not a patient, this is so refreshing and reassuring. Thank you everyone at Ladymead for the respect and care you have shown to Mum.

Unfortunately, my mother was only at Ladymead a few months before she sadly passed away, but the care she was given was fantastic. The staff looked after her brilliantly and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend Ladymead, so professional and caring.

My good friend moved to Ladymead several months ago, after he was very unwell and spent a period in hospital. He is now a permanent resident. In a very short time his health, both physical and mental, have improved drastically. He is very positive about the home whenever I speak to him, enjoying the meals (cooked breakfast every day!), company, entertainment (bingo etc.), and most importantly relationships with the staff. He talks very highly of them, giving examples of how they help him with any day to day problems he encounters e.g. how to use his mobile phone. The manager is always positive, attentive and full of information about how he is progressing when I contact the home. The staff simply can't do enough for him. This is at odds with what I have heard about other homes and so I felt I should write this review.

Well done Ladymead - please do not change, would not hesitate in recommending this care home.

Due to the impact of Covid, we were unable to visit Ladymead prior to Mum's transfer/discharge from hospital and, other than some photos and information we found on the internet, selected the care home "blind". We are extremely pleased and thankful for all the support and care she has received; indeed her current mental health, in particular, seems to have improved and this can only be due to the care she is receiving.

My mother was in another care home but after a hospital stay, we had to move her to Ladymead for the extra nursing care. As a family, we were a little bit worried how she would settle as she had been so well looked after at her previous home.

All I can say is that if anyone is looking for somewhere for a family member where they will be cared for and made to feel both loved and special then Ladymead is the place to look at. All through lockdown and beyond all the team have done everything they can to make sure that some sort of contact is maintained with family members whilst keeping everyone safe.

It is always a very difficult decision to admit that your relative can no longer be cared for at home but to know that they are safe and been cared for so well is such a relief for the whole family.

My mum is incredibly content here despite having dementia. She loves all the staff and they make her feel safe and secure. She feels at home. The family are always kept up to date on what is happening. The staff always make time for relatives even in these difficult times. They are amazing and I cannot thank them enough.

We consider ourselves so fortunate to have found this wonderful home for my mum. In the 12-months she has been there, she has been surrounded with such a high level of care and love from every single member of staff; our family cannot thank them enough. The manager and his team are amazing!

We always find the staff at Ladmead very friendly and helpful. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they are very professional in everything they do. They put a lot of effort into arranging activities for the residents and managing their care. We feel very lucky that she has a place at Ladymead. Thank you to the whole team.

In May, my mum was taken ill suddenly and had to be taken to hospital. After a week, it was clear she would not be able to return home and would need specialist palliative care. We were so lucky that Ladymead Care Home accepted her, as they had not been taking in any new people during the pandemic. I was massively reassured by both the care manager and the deputy manager who couldn’t have been more helpful, kind and understanding. Once mum was moved from hospital to Ladymead, she settled in immediately and it was clear I’d made an excellent choice – mum said she wanted for nothing, everyone was really friendly, and that even the food was good. I can honestly say that since mum has been at Ladymead, the care has been nothing short of excellent. The staff are 100% dedicated to the safety and the happiness of those in their care, and nothing is too much trouble for them. They work tirelessly and selflessly and I can’t thank them enough for everything they do.

This home was always a welcoming place from the front door onwards, friendly and very supportive staff at all levels who always had time to give to family members. Excellent activities. All in all, we were most impressed by the service we received.

Mum spent the last six months of her life living at Ladymead Care Home following a longer than expected spell in hospital. It was not an easy decision to make to move her there but it was the best one for all of us. Right from my initial contact with the Care Home Manager, all of the staff I met were very friendly and nothing ever appeared to much trouble even when they were clearly busy. The kindness shown to mum was touching and we were always kept informed of any updates regarding her health and welfare. The last few weeks were difficult but Ladymead staff didn’t mind us calling every day and even facilitated video calling so we could see and speak to mum. I am so grateful for the respect, care and attention given to mum and highly recommend Ladymead.

Mother has spent nearly two years at Ladymead. Her overall condition has been stable, and despite a few minor adjustments; have been well. I cannot fault the love and care the staff have spent on Mum, but we have never regretted her taking residence at Ladymead.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Ladymead for taking care of my father-in-law. As a family, we cannot thank you enough for your care and consideration, especially during such unusual and difficult times. You kept us updated and in touch (using technology to video call), going above and beyond what was expected. We were all so impressed with the homely feel at your home and the fact that the staff really do care. This is filtered down from the brilliant manager to the nurses and staff who together work as a fantastic team in what can be, at times, very challenging. It is with sadness that my father-in-law lost his fight to live but we are happy to know that he was made as comfortable as possible and the staff cared for him and were there to the very end, which we dearly thank you all for.

What a wonderful home with such fantastic and caring staff. During these difficult times, they are making it so much easier to keep in touch with Mum with video calling. It is so vital that we are able to talk and even better to see each other. The staff are so busy but take the time to ensure we have the best contact possible with our Mum. She is so happy and settled and this is down to all the lovely staff who take such good care of her; not just in these uncertain times but every single day. Big shout out to them all.
