My grandad lives at St Giles and has been there for about 3 months, I can’t say enough about the team there. My grandad is the happiest he has been for a while, the residents are well looked after, the staff always willing to help, he is spoilt with attention. The managers always come to say hello and
speak to him, I wasn’t sure about a care home at first because of horror stories in the news but was the best decision we could have made, keep up the good work St Giles.

Just small, but "every day" features we would like to thank you for; to list three things, among many others.


1. The wine glasses on each dining table.
2. The large 'Menu' board on the dining room wall.
3. Most importantly, residents and staff were totally unhurried over finishing breakfast, chatting

and having another drink.


And that this felt like a hotel and was a pleasant place to spend time with our loved Auntie.

My mum has been a resident of St Giles for over 12mths now. The managers are brilliant, so approachable and will go out of their way to help us. Mum is treated with the utmost respect and dignity by all the staff who may I say are so kind and work so hard to provide the best care they can, I can live
my life content and happy knowing that my mum is being given such wonderful care whilst I’m not able too due to work commitments. They do lovely personal things like birthdays, Xmas, always make mum feel special, we had a fabulous day out to Weston this month and the staff worked so hard to give the residents a day to remember. It’s the personal touch you wouldn’t find in many care homes. Thank you all so very much.

Don't be fooled by the brochure. This place is disgusting. My mother came to this home today, for respite from Solihull Hospital, having suffered a stroke. She was found by my sister, just dumped on an unmade bed, with no pillows and no water or food offered. My sister went straight to matrons office
to ask why and was told it's down to the staff, no, the buck stops with the matron, why didn't she check that everything was OK when my mother arrived, or is a meet and greet beneath her? There's no TV, as advertised in the brochure, so my mom was just lying on her unmade bed staring into space! When my sister left my mom was in tears. Is this how they treat their residents? Perhaps social services will need to get involved or an unexpected visit from CQC?

Beyond disappointing experience - no greeting or formal introductions for my 89-year-old mother. She was allocated a room with a cracked, leaking toilet and was left to walk in socks (she could not wear slippers as feet bandit swollen) like this for 3 days. I gave up and took her home. We were told
no one could repair it till the Monday - she arrived Friday! So unwelcoming and not very caring! My complaint not yet addressed - very very disappointed.

Mom is cared for with lots of respect and is very happy with the standard of care she gets. Sometimes it can get busy but they always explain and then come and help Mom. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Always something going on to keep Mom busy. Most importantly, Mom feels safe and happy.

All the staff including Carers, Nurses, Reception, Manager showed compassion, empathy and humanity towards my mother and our family. We were all amazed by this because we had post care at my mother's previous home.
They could not do enough for my mother and our family- we all felt very much at home.
We cannot thank them enough. St Giles have a very special team of staff that will be hard to find anywhere else.

When my husband came to reside here, I was a bit unsure about the place. My husband took a while to settle in. Over the last few weeks, things are a lot better. I have come to understand the workings of the home and how hard the staff work, and their dedication. If I had any doubts before, I don't now.

I'm disappointed in this care home. My dad stayed for a while after a stroke and was often not looked after correctly. He had a fall the first night, was given drinks without thickener and stodgy food when on a pureed diet. His room was left for days without being cleaned.


The last few days he was

there being the worst; with his bed not changed, floor not vacuumed, bins not emptied, urine and wet tissue all over the bathroom floor with dirty pads piled up.


I'm grateful to the few that did their job correctly but cleaning standards are low.

Our friend has great difficulty in moving or communicating.
Visiting her, since she was moved to St Giles about six months ago, we see the staff looking after her in a respectful, good-humoured and kind manner. She is brought into the lounge regularly and proper records are kept of pressure relief.
St Giles is clean and welcoming and our impression is that our friend is well cared for.

What a lovely home. Staff are friendly and approachable and cared so much.
I spoke with the manager, who was caring and listened she was around the home which was reassuring and had a good rapport with her team. The deputy is a lovely person and knowledgeable.
The care received is excellent and this
