Heartlands Nursing and Care Home, in the Yardley area of Birmingham, is a well-respected nursing and care home specialising in care for people with all forms of dementia, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. The nursing and care team have years of experience in delivering high standards of care and support. Heartlands has good wheelchair access, enclosed outdoor spaces and good relationships with local GPs and other health professionals.

Heartlands Care Home is spread over three floors and registered to provide personalised, family-led care in a luxury yet homely environment, but at an affordable cost to the local community of Birmingham. The home boasts 66 en-suite bedrooms, a family room, relaxation spa, private dining room, café/bistro, cinema room and a garden room.

Residents enjoy a wide range of activities and events, led by the well-being and activities team who get to know each resident individually and support them to continue to enjoy their hobbies and interests.

As soon as we entered Heartlands nursing home we knew that this was the right home for our friend.
As soon as you walk into reception you are met with a warm welcome. The management are extremely helpful and made you feel at ease, and can go and talk to them at any time, it's great to see that they
are involved with both staff and residents' well being and not just sat in an office.
The cleanliness of the home is exceptional, ALL staff from the management, cleaners, carers and nursing staff, are very approachable, professional and friendly. The food is plentiful, residents always have a good choice to chose from.
Residents are free to use any of the facilities, such as the cinema room being one, then there is the shop, and pub. The garden is well kept and secure.
My friend has been a resident for a while now and the difference in both her mental and physical health has been amazing, she is very happy to be there, saying that the staff make her feel wanted and loved.

My dad was diagnosed with widespread cancer and given 4-6 weeks to live. I stayed with him for 7 days and nights and I never went home, the staff looked after me and dad like we were family, they were fantastic. Dad died after 10 days. The home management were two lovely ladies and a lot of the staff
came to dads funeral. I will never be able to thank them enough.

In my opinion, Heartlands Care Home is an outstanding facility and I would highly recommend it to other service users.
The Care Home is extremely well managed, creating a safe friendly environment for residents, staff and their families.
Staff are exceptionally kind and caring and resolve any issues
promptly and efficiently and their dedication and devotion to ensuring that residents are happy, active and enjoying life is magnificent.
The home offers a range of stimulating and creative activities during the day and all areas are clean and tidy.
The care given to my mother has dramatically improved her mental health and I have no doubt that being at Heartlands has extended her life.

After making the difficult decision for mom to go into a care home we set out to find one to meet her needs.
From the moment we walked in to look at the home we knew this is the place for mom
An Administrator assisted us with all the information and paperwork to get mom moved from hospital to the
home.
The manager sat down with us as a family and reassured us that mom would be cared for and her complex needs would be met.
All the staff are friendly and happy on mom's arrival.
We can see the difference in mom, she's happy, content and her appetite is back, down to the amazing kitchen staff.
One of the nurses, in particular, is clearly in the job for the love of the patients. Everyone loves him.
We are truly lucky to have found this beautiful home.

My mother is a resident of Heartlands Care Home. She seems to be quite settled and happy. We believe she gets adequate care and attention to her care and needs. The home is very well lead by management and the staff who are always pleasant and helpful when we visit. We get regular updates and reviews

Whilst the new building is outstanding, unfortunately, the same staff remain from the old building. Most of whom are just purely in place to earn a wage without any concern to residents' needs no matter how simple - seems to be too much hassle. My mother had 3 seperate incidents which could have been
avoided by staff simply doing their job however I highly commend both care assistants who are outstanding staff. Thank you from my mom and family. You are amazing a true credit.

I was very happy to find this home for my mum. It is a very homely place. The staff made you feel very welcome. I was happy with the care my mother received there. All the people that were residents seemed happy to be there. At the end of her life, my Mum was treated with dignity and respect. There

Because the home is in the transition from old to new at the moment. Some of the answers (i.e state of rooms etc) will not be a true reflection of existing facilities. But overall, staff and carers attitudes are excellent and give you great peace of mind about residents comfort and dignity.

Job Title: Activities and Well-being Coordinator Joined: 2005

I am Activities & Well-being Coordinator at Heartlands so together with my colleague we complete two group activities per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. In between these times I spend time with residents one on one, we have quite a few residents that are unable to take part in group activities so I like to ensure they are not isolated and feel part of our family. I plan future events and activities and I work closely with our CRM to go through ideas. Because I have a background in care I also assist with self-care and mealtimes.
I love my job because I feel that I can contribute towards improving the quality of life for our residents, making them smile is so rewarding. Tracy lives locally, has 3 children and loves her job. The best part of the job is the ‘butterfly moments’, precious moments with residents. I like getting residents together and seeing how socialising can change the mood for residents making them feel more positive and upbeat.
I am also a Dignity Champion for Heartlands Care Home and a Dementia Friend.
I am working towards my Diploma in Care which I will complete in July 2019.
