The Priory understands the importance of creating a relaxing environment for its residents. The home welcomes those who require residential, nursing, palliative, convalescence and respite care and creates a unique care plan for each resident upon arrival.

Situated in the pleasant area of Monkspath, the home has been specifically designed to meet the needs of older people. The Priory is surrounded by large enclosed gardens and benefits from a close location to local amenities and bus routes, while a GP surgery is just a short distance away. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, a flat-screen TV and a 24-hour call system.

Nutritionally balanced meals are prepared using fresh ingredients and a wide range of dishes are available to choose from. Residents' birthdays are celebrated as are all traditional holidays ranging from Pancake Day to Christmas.

A dedicated activities room allows residents to pursue their own hobbies and share interests and a mobile library visits regularly.

My Mother has been resident since August 2021. The manager and his team were very helpful and accommodating at short notice when it became necessary to change from planned respite to full time care. Since then, the level of nursing and domiciliary care has been excellent as she moves towards end of
life. The regular attendance of local GPs means she receives much better access than would have been available at home, particularly during Covid. We cannot speak highly enough of the support given and care shown to us all by all the staff, including leaders, both over the telephone and when visiting. I would highly recommend the Priory Care Home.

My dear friend was in The Priory Care Home from August 2020 until she sadly passed away in July 2021. The atmosphere was calm, warm and homely; very much one big family. The care, kindness and support given to my friend whilst she was a resident were second to none. The management and staff were friendly,
helpful, hardworking and always treated my friend with dignity. As visitors, we were always made welcome. They kept us informed and dealt with any of our concerns. I would highly recommend The Priory Care Home.

My wife has been a resident at The Priory for two years, after experiencing a 3rd and 4th stroke impact, which left her incapacitated in movement and slurred speech. Entry into the Priory was in 2019, with intermittent visits to the hospital and back, bringing us into 2021, past the dreaded Covid. I
commend The Priory for keeping my wife safe and in care through the difficult times and the demands placed on staff to cope with her ailments. The Priory staff team show patience and understanding through difficult issues with patients, and that includes my wife, but they pressed on relentlessly with due care. The Care team has shown the responsibility of being committed and I applauded all, given such a demanding role. I wish to say, in appreciation, thank you to all who helped my wife along the way at The Priory and I am aware it has had its difficulties. She is now being cared for at home. I would recommend The Priory for anyone seeking personal care. Thank you to all.

My late wife was a resident on the nursing floor of The Priory for almost four years, until her recent death. Throughout that time, until enforced visiting restrictions due to Coronavirus, I visited regularly. She was always clean and well cared for by welcoming and hardworking staff. Even during the
lockdown, every effort was made to keep me informed of her condition, and to support window visits to see her. The atmosphere was warm and friendly to my wife, myself and my family with respect, dignity and affection. I always felt she was in safe hands. Staff involved as many residents as were able in entertaining and stimulating activities. I have nothing but praise for all staff in all departments of the home. Indeed, they became friends with us.

The staff at The Priory are second to none, they are the most wonderful, kind and caring people, and I couldn't have wished for anything better for my mother. From day one, in January 2018 until her last breath in March 2021, the staff have been excellent. Caring, considerate, warm, gentle, kind sensitive,
nice, generous, warm are all words I would use to describe the staff at The Priroy. Thank you to you all.

I came to the care home overtired and somewhat stressed. My stay of over six months at the Priory has been helpful in my recovery (and freedom from anxiety). Activities here have kept me alert and at age 95, increased my energy levels. I have found this a rewarding experience all round and I leave with
pleasant memories of the staff and fellow residents. Kindness abounds.

Following my mother having had a stroke in 2018 and being in and out of hospital we were faced with the difficult and heartbreaking decision to find a care home. After visiting several and becoming despondent, I walked into the priory care home one afternoon to an oasis of calm the atmosphere was so
homely and I was made so welcome. I knew immediately this was the place for mum.
The staff have looked after my mum like a member of their own family, they are kind and caring and show respect to the residents and relatives alike, they always make time for me and keep me updated and deal with any concerns. I am extremely grateful for all their care and how hard they work particularly in the recent pandemic, where they went above and beyond to take care of all the residents and I can’t thank them enough.
It gives me peace of mind to know mum is being cared for so well.
If mum is happy then I am happy

We were very fortunate to move both our parents into The Priory, the residential floor and the nursing floor providing for different needs. Whilst there are single rooms only, this arrangement proved to be appropriate for us. Our dear father passed away after 7 weeks and since then our mum has been
very well supported. My brother and I cannot fault the caring attitude of all the staff. Despite concerns about Covid-19, the atmosphere has remained cheerful and positive. My mum appreciates the small human touches which help to enrich her stay at The Priory.

All the staff are such wonderful caring and professional people, whatever their role, they have all shown my mother such warmth and wonderful care. They are so friendly when I visit, always offering us drinks etc. But what amazes me most is when I ring, especially at the moment when I can't visit,
they recognise my voice and can give me a complete update of my mom's health and day, without having to look up notes.

Whist the standard of the majority of the nurses is very high the fact there are safety issues, poor management and a lack of training in cross infection make this a place I would definitely not recommend.

The staff at The Priory are loving, caring and excellent, nothing is too much trouble. My uncle needed regular dressings which were dealt with cleanly, quickly and efficiently. The rooms cater for the individual client and are clean. I felt very comfortable placing my uncle into their care.

The residential part of the home is bright and airy with a well laid out dining room that is very inviting. The 1940's room is a lovely addition which we appreciated on various occasions.
The activity room is separate from the lounge, allowing for choice to residents who may not wish to leave the lounge.
The
carers are, in the main, dedicated and compassionate. Mum loved most (but not all) of them and they were very friendly to family and visitors.
However, by the very nature of the establishment, there will always be emergencies or demands from multiple residents. This is not reflected in the staffing levels. For example, residents can be left longer than is ideal waiting for toilet assistance, especially if two carers are required for hoisting, this, therefore, compromises their dignity. The carers are very stretched in order to be available to varying needs of residents/patients. More staff are needed at mealtimes in the evening and at night times. The environment of the home is excellent, even a little hairdressing salon. More staff on the frontline would make it outstanding.

My mother died at The Priory Care Home on 7th January 2019 at the age of 104 1 month and 1 day having been a resident for almost three years. It is difficult to find words that adequately express how grateful I am to all the wonderful staff who not only cared for her but also for us her daughters especially
during her final days. How fortunate we were to find such a lovely care home for her. Thank you all.

Job Title: Senior Housekeeper Joined: 2007

We are all like a large family here at The Priory. My passion is leading the team to perform exceptionally in infection control procedures as I am the infection control champion for the home. I am also an engagement champion which involves me linking with other local homes to share best practice ideas and cascade to the team here. I thoroughly enjoy my role and look forward to many years to come. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to Reggae and I love a nice cold rum and coke.

I first started at The Priory as a Care Assistant. In 2019 I stepped into the role of activity co-ordinator. I love my role and providing a variety of stimulating activities for the residents. We particularly love doing themed days such as beach days, bastille day and various charity events involving the community. In my spare time I love holidays and dancing as I am part of a local dance organisation.
