Ardenlea Grove Care Home is just an amazing place. My Dad was sadly only with them for a short amount of time but he was treated with the utmost care, dignity, love, and laughter. He loved it there and so did we. We cannot fault the care he received. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The people who
work there are people who genuinely care not just carers. Cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful place.

My mom came to Ardenlea nursing home, of her own choice having struggled with underlying mobility and health issues. She was looked after with kindness and humour, by a number of care workers some of whom became mom's favourites. Following brief spells in hospital while in care, she returned to Ardenlea
recently for end-of-life care as her cancer advanced. I have full praise for those staff who gave that little extra to mom, right up until her recent passing. Myself and mom were treated in a warm and compassionate way, as a very frequent visitor, it was a pleasure to experience the supportive environment. The rooms are light and cheery, I would recommend it to anyone in need able to fund their excellent place to be a resident.
Reply from Rebecca Kellegher, Customer Service Adviser at Ardenlea Grove Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave your lovely review. We are saddened to hear about the loss of your Mom but hopefully, you will go away from this feeling like she received the best possible care.

Mum was transferred to Ardenlea Grove to recover from a hip operation following a fall at home. Unfortunately, her Dementia deteriorated meaning Mum needed 24/7 care which she got from the very patient and caring staff and management throughout her stay, despite the restrictions due to covid. Our thanks
to everyone at Ardenlea Grove for all their efforts.

My dad was discharged to Ardenlea Grove for end-of-life care. The level of care he received allowed me to spend the last few months of his life as his daughter again, rather than his carer. Their Covid arrangements are excellent and align to the quality of care they provide. Dad was always kept clean
and comfortable and the meals were varied and freshly cooked. They treated both dad and myself like friends/family. The staff are always there for you, they greet you with a friendly smile, they kept me informed at all times and when the time came for dad's passing, I was able to be there by his side with staff nearby to comfort me. The staff had got to know my dad during his short stay there and were also saddened by his passing. I will never forget the kindness shown by the staff.
Reply from Amanda Barnes, Customer Service Adviser at Ardenlea Grove Care HomeWe appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. We are sorry for your loss please accept our condolences. As a former nurse and carer, I have visited many care homes over the years. I consider Ardenlea Grove to be the best and I myself would be happy to reside there. The staff are always helpful and the way they have rehabilitated my friend over the past 2 and a half years has been exemplary.

Ardenlea Grove is a helpful place, it caters for all types of ills. Staff are caring, efficient, and firm. Helping to get up and hand out pills.
The meals were varied, delicious, nutritious. All served with a welcoming smile. The rooms were clean, spacious, well-planned. Essential if staying a while.
Most
folk are grateful for Ardenlea's care. Running on well-oiled wheels. The rehab care worked out just fine. Back home now to continue to heal.

The receptionist and nursing staff are excellent, very friendly, professional, willing to help especially in these (covid 19) times. The bathroom in my mother's room smells and I told the nurse and he took care of that. The carpets on Sapphire floor look like they should be replaced. WiFi should be
offered to relatives while here.

The staff at Ardenlea Grove Care Home go out of their way to help their residents and family.
The manager is so happy to help and assist you where she can, the receptionist always has a smile for you and a friendly word. The care staff are both diligent and extremely caring, ensuring that your person
is always well looked after. Nobody ever minds if you want a chat to see how things are going and will always keep you well informed. My mum's stay at Ardenlea Grove was in short stay for only 4 weeks before she passed away, but we were all made to feel welcome as part of a family with all the staff from the reception to the nursing and caring staff. The dedication of all the staff is commendable and always shown a generosity od compassion
and care especially at the time when mum passed away.

It was virtually impossible to decide which nursing home for our wonderful Mom. We decided on Ardenlea Grove because of the 'feel' and 'pride' exuded from the manager and staff. We were not wrong. Our mother has now settled in and been a resident for some 8 weeks. She is well looked after and the staff
are always there for her. We now can settle as a family, that our fantastic Mom is being treated with dignity and care. Thank you.

My mother has been at Ardenlea Grove for just over three years. The purpose of this review is to comment on how the staff have dealt with the pandemic. A massive thank you to the staff and management who have had to adapt to this fluid situation and keep residents safe and comfortable during the most
worrying of times. Communication from management has been very good, keeping relatives informed of current visiting rules, and using technology to maintain communication between relatives and residents in a safe way.

My mother, 94, was in Ardenlea Grove for 5 weeks. She had to be stretchered in on admission and was very weak. When she left she was fully dressed, in day clothes and in a wheelchair but with some mobility. Within a few days she was back to her old self - and continued to gain strength the longer she
stayed. She enjoyed the home-cooked food very much - it was cooked from scratch every day. Myself and the rest of her family appreciated the responsiveness of staff. There were a few issues that were resolved quickly and efficiently. I found staff friendly, helpful and caring.
There were certain times of day when they were unavoidably busy - these are extraordinary times and therefore this was understandable. At her own very definite wish she wished to return to her sheltered accommodation - this time with live-in care. The family would have been happy should she have decided to stay. We would definitely choose this care home again if necessary. Thanks to everyone.

Our mother was admitted just before Christmas after an admission to hospital after breaking her hip. She was anxious and upset at times. She needed a lot of reassurance. The staff at Ardenlea Grove were understanding, compassionate and caring. They took their time to get to know Mum and I am sure this
aided her recovery. She had a private room with an en-suite bathroom which was important to a lady who values her privacy. We, as a family were reassured that our mum was in good hands during this very worrying time.

In February, the day before my mother's 100th Birthday, my mother moved into Ardenlea Grove Care Home, where she died 3 months later.
I wish to express a massive thank you to all the staff and nurses on the Emerald Floor for the excellent care and affection that showered my mother during her stay.
The carers, of which 3 were young men showed such compassion, not just to my mother, but to other residents with dementia. Sincere thanks again.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.524)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.524) out of 10 for Ardenlea Grove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.524 for Ardenlea Grove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (137 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 370 Ratings = 4.524
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ardenlea Grove Care Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
