Personalised care and support plans are provided at Ardenlea Grove, for both long-term care and shorter stays. A team of professional and experienced staff provide residential, nursing and dementia care, whether that's for long or short stays or for respite.

The attractive purpose-built home is set over three floors and offers well-equipped facilities and accommodation. Rooms offer ensuite bathrooms and 24-hour call systems and most have views of the landscaped gardens.

Residents can choose to eat in the welcoming dining room or in the privacy of their own rooms, enjoying meals that are freshly prepared to suit individual tastes and diets. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day and include sandwiches, drinks and fruit.

Residents can enjoy varied activities and events programme as well as regular trips and outings. Residents can also benefit from an onsite salon along with additional therapies and services.

The home boasts a pub within the Emerald Uni, aptly named the 'Emerald Inn' that care home staff tirelessly built. With its authentic look and feel it's a great place for residents to come together and enjoy a drink, play some games and even listen to music on the jukebox.

I cannot thank the staff at Ardenlea Grove enough for the way that they have cared for my dad during this pandemic. We have managed to see dad twice through the window and two of the staff have pushed his bed to the window so that we can see him. He looks immaculate, his room is clean and fresh. How
the staff have kept this level of hygiene up is a credit to them. When Mum phones for an update they are happy and reassuring and have put my mum's mind at ease. I really cannot thank them enough - they are a fantastic bunch of people and they have all worked together for a long time now - you're doing wonders all of you. Thank you for looking after my dad so well!

From day one my aunt had outstanding care. The room was beautiful with a lovely garden view. It was always clean. Most of all the staff were so caring and dedicated. Thank you to the team and management at Ardenlea Grove. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a care home.

My mother was due to go to Ardenlea 2 weeks ago. My visit to them was excellent as I was doing it as an emergency as the hospital were discharging Mum. The staff could not have been more helpful when I told them that Mum had died. I wish my mum could have spent her last two weeks there.

My mother was looked after very well. The only criticism I have is that more often than not the food was lukewarm. This may be because mom preferred to eat late and I appreciate it is difficult to manage. My only other observation is that rooms should have telephones as my mother cannot use a mobile
phone!

Daughter of 66yr old Lady placed in the care home for respite care and physio to get well enough to go home. She spent two nights in the care and her mobility was improving when the agency nurse took it upon herself to call 999 and dispose of my mother to hospital citing deterioration (not true). Total
disregard for the patient's mental health and to up and move her at 5 pm alone to then have her wait in hospital corridors. In my opinion, they have a lack of care for their patients in most need. Their decision-making process does not involve discussing with the family the best options for the patient.

Extremely poor care to 93-year-old end of life resident.
Countless errors in nursing care. Ambulance services called several times due to lack of care by nursing staff.
No water in the room for long periods of time.
Resident had two falls with no report done or safety measures put in place.
Food
appalling.
Staff rude and unsympathetic to end of life resident.
Disgusting.
Do not put your loved one in this place, you will regret it.

My dad has been at Ardenlea now for four years now. The staff there are so lovely and it has a warm cosy feel. My dad has advanced dementia and is now in bed 24/7. Whenever I walk into his room, it always smells clean and fresh and Dad always looks well kept. Big thanks to the staff - you care about
my dad and I thank you. It has been nice over the years observing the other residents and sad too when they pass. All the staff are nothing but respectful and I often have a giggle to myself when I see one of them sat down painting a residents fingernails - well done - I wouldn't/couldn't have wanted better for my dad.

I am so glad I found Ardenlea Grove Care Home for my husband. He is well looked after by all the staff who are kind, caring and respectful of individuals needs. The home is well run, clean and tidy and the day room is bright and cheerful. I know my husband is well cared for. He is quite poorly at the
moment but I know he is in safe hands.

The regular staff team on Sapphire are kind and helpful, however, their approach to care changes noticeably when understaffed and overworked. They have supported my aunt with improving her health and confidence in mobility, however, socially I feel the residents would value less time spent in the room
and more activities that are engaging and graded better for ability and awareness. Meals are almost the same every week, more variety needed.

When mum arrived, she was a shell of her former self. All of this changed within a few days. Her confidence and overall well-being returned and it was a joy to see the mum we all knew come back to us. Mum went home after rehabilitation but to the day she passed away, on the 19th September 2019, she
never forgot (and neither did we) the brilliant treatment she received. Thank you to everybody.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.524)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.524) out of 10 for Ardenlea Grove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.524 for Ardenlea Grove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (137 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 370 Ratings = 4.524
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ardenlea Grove Care Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
