I am very pleased with how they have treated my mother-in-law, she lost her husband of 47 years in July and has been very lonely and frightened at home, within a day we all saw the difference in her, they all have a good chat, treat her so good, she is so happy there, they do everything she wants can't
thank them enough, you can tell they really do care and take great care in their work, I was a carer and have seen so many bad carers over the years, but they are all so great very pleased no complaints.

When I was first admitted to Russell Nursing Home I really didn't want to stay. Because I was so out of it and not well, but after a couple of weeks I was feeling really well again and getting about, because of the care I have received from the people in here from management, carers and kitchen staff.

Excellent care home. My niece suffered from Huntington's Disease which is an extremely debilitating condition. She was a resident with Rushall Care Home for around 6 months, and in that time she received excellent care. The staff were invariably caring and showed her the respect that she deserved. The
care home made excellent adjustments to her diet when she became unable to chew and managed to create tasty food in spite of this. There was a regular range of activities for residents and my niece was able to partake in these. There was also good communication to me when needed. Strongly recommend the care home.

My dad came into Rushall Care Home from hospital, not a well man he was only 63 years old the Home Manager and day staff and night staff and the nurses looked after him really well he got on with everyone there, even seen a smile which it had been a long time since he did that, my dad liked his own
company in his room and all the staff always popped in for a chat he loved his TV and DVDs. Towards the end of his life, everyone was so caring and always came in to ask if we were ok and if we need anything, when he did pass away everyone was there for us giving us the time to say goodbye to my dad, I could not ask for a better care home so glad he went there. If anyone is looking for a good and friendly care home I would recommend it to anyone five stars keep up the good work. And again thank you for everything.

My mother was 92 when she was transferred to Rushall Care Home after spending three weeks in hospital for end-of-life care. The care my mother received was excellent, every member of staff was kind and caring and made my mother's last few weeks very comfortable. My mother's visitors were treated with
respect and kindness. I would recommend Rushall Care Home to anyone. Thank you all.

I visited five care homes and was feeling broken, I had made my mom a promise I couldn’t keep months before and she was the end of life and I could not have her at home due to her complex health issues. Then I visited Rushall Care Home, the minute I entered the home my worries started to fade. The warmth
that comes from every member of staff within the first five minutes of waiting to be seen left me feeling lighter. Mom moved in for two weeks before she passed and I can honestly say she got exceptional care. Nothing was too much trouble. Banter was a plenty and kindness was abundant. My mom was treated with dignity and respect and I can honestly say if you can have a good death, that is what she got. My family were made to feel so welcome and Mom was happy there and that is all that mattered. When the manager showed me around he had so much passion for the home and it showed in all his staff. l 100% recommend this wonderful home and am happy to speak personally to anyone to verify.

Mum had approx 1 week of care at Rushall before she passed away. In that one week, she had more care than the months spent at her previous nursing home combined. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful, respectful to my brother and I when mum passed away. They couldn't do enough for mum or the family.
They actually 'care'. I can't praise them highly enough. Thank you so much for making mum comfortable in her last days.

Overall, the care given and received was carried out with compassion, dignity and kindness. Although the team were obviously busy, they always gave their time when needed for either intervention or answering questions. There is a warm, friendly atmosphere between the team and also in the environment.
Although the home was mid-refurbished, it was clean and furnished well. The floors and rooms which were complete, were very nice.

My brother was transferred from hospital to Rushall Care Home for end of life care and have to say the staff were exceptional during such a difficult time. They were understanding, friendly and patient. We couldn’t have asked for a better place for my brother to spend his final weeks.

Dad couldn't have spent his last six months in any better place, management were very quick to sort out one or two initial issues, to begin with. Dad needs were very well accommodated, he was very well fed and always had drinks to hand, socialising was always an option and available if he wanted it.
In particular dads carers have been fantastic, he was so well looked after, with a smile, good banter, and a laugh, and I know he grew rather fond of many of the carers, and had a very good relationship with most of them. Dad was the favourite of a few lol. I also can't fault management, The Manager, and the team for allowing dad to return from hospital for his last few days, allowing family as much time as we wanted to spend with dad, which we took full advantage of, we were very well treated, and accommodated. Ten out of ten most excellent service. Thank you Rushall Care Home for making my dad's last month's a pleasure, thank you.

Sincere thanks to the amazing staff at Rushall Care Home. My aunt was lucky enough to get a place here after being discharged from hospital in 2021. She was nursed to the highest of standards by a team of dedicated staff who always welcomed us with a smile. Sadly passing away at 92 years of age she
was given 10 months of stress-free life and enjoyed every moment. The care manager runs an amazing team. Credit to all of you and thanks on behalf of our family. You are a credit to the profession.

When admitted, my mother was confused and recovering from a fractured hip and breast cancer. The care home staff have helped her start walking again and also encourages her to take part in the activities that the home puts on every day. The staff are friendly and the rooms are in good condition and
my mother has started to put weight back on as she enjoys the meals provided.

Words cannot express our gratitude for the care, compassion and kindness given to my husband during his time at Rushall Care Home. The staff and manager are simply wonderful, we cannot fault anything. The home is spotlessly clean, smells fresh and the staff go above and beyond what is expected of them,
they give care and support not only to the residents but to the family also. We could not have asked for kinder people to look after him and will always be eternally grateful for the empathy, kindness and dignity given to him during his last few days. If you are looking for a care home for a loved one, in our experience you could not get better than Rushall Care Home, in our opinion, it is how all care homes should be run.

Dad was only at the home for a very short time before passing away on Friday. Staff were wonderfully attentive to my father, courteous towards us and kindly arranged video calls for our family. As my father's care became end of life, they invited my mother and I to visit him. This gave us precious time
with him that we shall cherish and my daughters were allowed to see their Grandad before he left the home. They were touched that staff had lined up in respect and that they'd placed a rose on their Grandad's chest. This has helped us all, we know that the care my father received was exceptional. We'd like to thank the staff and especially the manager for their kindness, understanding and support. If you're looking for a care home for your loved one with kind and respectful staff, a clean comfortable environment and a genuinely caring team then Rushall Care Home is hard to beat.

My father came into Rushall Care Home in July. He has been looked after with a high level of care. Lovely meals, personal care 100% and encouraged to join in with activities, which my father really enjoys. The staff are wonderful, they want to help you, and so caring for all the residents.

Not being able to look after a much-loved parent, for whatever reason, is a cause for much frustration, soul searching and sadness. Mom was an absolute star in bringing up myself and my dear brother and in later life, giving all she had to make the lives of her grandchildren the best and happiest that
they could be. As we get older our faculties gradually deteriorate until we reach the stage where we are unable to look after ourselves. When this happens, someone needs to look after us. Mom was fast approaching this stage and neither my brother nor myself were in a position whereby we could provide the 24-hours-a-day care that Mom needed. So we began our search to find the best Care Home that we could. Rushall Care Home was that place. All my family would like to show our gratitude to everyone who works there, from the bottom of our hearts, for your humour, your caring and wanting to do your best for the residents always. When the time comes for a loved one to be placed in the care of others, it can be a very unsettling period for both the relatives and the family member too. I visited a number of other, less nice care homes before having to take the decision of which one to place Mom in. The weight of such a decision
can sometimes feel overwhelming and feels like such a huge responsibility to have to make - placing the person who has spent all of your life loving, caring and looking after you into the hands of strangers. I don't mind admitting that I had many, many sleepless nights over the prospect of doing this, but when the time came, the decision was made so much easier because of the wonderful attitudes of the staff, manager and even the owner who kindly helped me move some of Mom's possessions from her house to the Home. Mom's time there was spent being looked after by caring, committed and loving people who treated her with dignity and humanity. Our family have a lot to thank them for. Thank you.

My aunt sadly passed away in September 2020, but was a resident at Rushall Care Home for the last four years of her life. From day one we as a family had been very satisfied with the care and support provided by the care home through carers, management and administration staff. From having been a frequent
in-patient in hospital in the months prior to entering residential care my aunt's situation was quickly stabilised, dramatically improving her quality of life. Whilst she was bed-ridden and her mental health deteriorated through dementia over time we believe staff always treated her in her best interests and with respect for her dignity. We were contacted individually about aspects of her care, but also highly valued collective communications such as the monthly newsletter with stories and photos. Whilst living remotely, whenever we visited we were welcomed, any questions we had were answered and we were very confident she was in safe hands.

My Mum has been in Rushall Care Home since November 2019. During her stay, she continues to receive excellent nursing care and support from the whole team. To know that she is safe in a very caring environment is a great comfort for me and the rest of my family. I am also thankful for the ongoing support
I am given by everyone to try and make these difficult times manageable. A great example of how dedicated all members of the team are to provide a happy, safe and caring environment for our loved ones.

I am Phil Toomer-Smith the General Manager here at Rushall Care Home. I began my nursing career in 2006 at the University of Wolverhampton, and have since gained experience in Medical, Surgical, Trauma and Intensive care. I have a passion for delivering good palliative and dementia care services. Previous to nursing I worked in the tourism sector with airlines and hotels so I take customer service very seriously.


I have worked in the community with nursing homes for the last 10 years, starting as a nurse, through to deputy manager and general manager. I moved back to the Midlands in 2020 from the Channel Islands after working there for 7 years.


I enjoy developing my team and eagerly push training and education to ensure that the care delivered is up to date with current standards. I have continued with my education and since qualifying I have completed a BSc in nursing, a Diploma in nursing home management and a postgraduate Diploma in healthcare law and ethics.


I strive to lead a team of staff who enjoy their work and want to develop, as this will only benefit the care our residents receive.

Abi is our Deputy General Manager. Abi has been with us since September 2022 and qualified as an RNLD from Birmingham City University in 2019. This was due to supporting a friend through access to a nursing course and choosing to stay in nursing herself. Previous to nursing Abi has held various forms of employment including being a public house licensee and an NVQ sign-off. Abi gained her foundational clinical skills primarily in forensic psychiatric fields and found herself wanting to round off her skills further in all areas of nursing. Abi is driven to support and ease the burdens of living with complex care needs and supporting residents and their families through end-of-life care. Abi continues to drive quality improvement and positive change, by leading the nursing team and enhancing family communication here at Rushall. Since joining and leading care delivery here at Rushall Care Home Abi has formed strong therapeutic relations with all areas of the multidisciplinary team based here in Walsall.

Kirstie Leadbeater has been with us here at Rushall Care Home since 2022. She comes to us with a wealth of previous experience including hospitality and the care industry. Kirstie also brings her dog Jax to work to promote enhanced holistic care for our residents

Please may I introduce you to our new Clinical Lead Nurse Tracey? She has been with us since 2022 and has settled in so well. Tracey qualified from the University of Wolverhampton as an RGN in 2019, previous to this she was a hairdresser and a carer. Tracey always thought she wasn’t clever enough to go to University, but we are so very pleased that she did.

Hi, I’m John, I came to Rushall Care Home in 2020. I previously worked at Nicholl Food Group as a site maintenance manager. I had decided to take it easier and join Rushall to work 3 days a week with zero pressure. Who knew that I’d end up supporting the home through a whole home rejuvenation? If we aren’t throwing it out, we’re painting it or moving it, but I’m having a lot of fun. My brother works for one of our sister homes Woodgreen Nursing Home - Wednesbury now too.

My name is Michelle, I am the Head Chef here at Rushall, I have been here since 2002. I started in catering completing a YTS training scheme at Springfield Brewry in Wolverhampton. I moved on to Bilston College to complete numerous City and Guilds and ULCI pastry courses. I have previous waitressing skills and Duty Manager skills at Hilton Park. I never planned to stay here at Rushall, yet I have now been here 18 years and I am very happy here. I love interacting with the residents, providing meals which are warm and nutritious, on a style of home from home. My team and I prepare and serve meals for various dietary requirements, in a consistency which maintains safety and ensure the enjoyablilty of eating each day.

My name is Lynn, I have been here at Rushall for many years. I started as a carer in 1992, as the housekeeper was leaving I showed an interest in becoming the new Head Housekeeper. I have been completing this role for 5-6 years now. I lead a team of 4 staff to ensure that the home is presented to its best ability. I like all aspects of my job, this includes making sure that the house is nice and clean and tidy. I particualry ensure the interaction with the residents and thier families.

I provided activities through Girl Guiding, I was a qualified leader for 10 years, mainly with Rainbows (5-7 years of age). I have previously worked within a residential home catering to the needs of EMI placement, I did this for four and half years while I was studying a BSc in Animal behavior and wildlife conservation. I fell in love with providing activity provision. I saw the job become available here at Rushall and love working here.Whilst working here at Rushall I was nominated for the West Midlands Care Association Excellence in Care. My favourite thing about my job is how unique each resident is and providing person centred support for each resident.

I started working for Trust Forte hotels in 1985 to complete my kitchen training and completed my City & Guilds Catering Level 2 with Walsall College. I worked my way up to Sous Chef and completed my hotel career on The Pass, leaving in 2004. I came to Rushall Care Home 16 years ago and I am very happy here.

Hi Rushall, my name is Jennie and I have worked here at Rushall for 7 years now. I initially started as a carer, but I am now working as a nurses assistant and lead the care team.


I love working with residents and the families, thier needs are my first concern. Supporting my carers is next on my list. I enjoy delivering good palliative care, but do struggle with the emotional side of things.


I really enjoy working here at Rushall we have such a family atmosphere here. I could not recommend our home enough.

Hi all, I’ve worked here at Rushall since 2015, before that I worked as a community carer for 3 years. I have also worked as a private 1:1 carer, for around 10 years. I love to learn and have my NVQ2 and 3, Dementia level 2 and medication qualifications. I love my job and do my best to keep all the residents safe and happy. Working at Rushall is like my second family.

I love Rushall very much, I eagerly returned after my maternity leave. Having my little boy means that I can only work once a week, and extra when I can. I treat all of the residents as my own family. I am very bubbly, even after a long night shift.

My name is Sandra, I’ve been working here at Rushall since February 2020, exactly a year now. Before working here I was an RMN/EMN, I started my nurse training in 1979 at St Matthews in Burntwood, I continued to work at St Matthews and the George Bryan centre after I qualified. I retired in 2016 but got bored. When I saw a vacancy here at Rushall I eagerly applied and was successful. I really love working here, meeting the residents and staff and having a good time.
