Because of the virus at the moment I find it difficult to state a month to refer to but I am so grateful my partner is in such a special place and being so well cared for. I have no anxiety knowing the management and staff are so fantastic in all respects. As I can't visit at the moment I speak to the
staff every day for an update, get told details of how my partner is. My thanks to them all, sincerely.

The professionalism and care for residents at Hazlehurst is exceptional.
There is a great commitment and zeal in ensuring that all those who call this their home are looked after to the highest standards. And, so important, that there is no let up ever.

Hazelhurst is an excellent care home which I would not hesitate to recommend. All the staff are extremely kind and thoughtful, managers, administration, nurses, carers, cleaners, activities staff, chefs, kitchen staff, housekeeper and gardener! They all work together as a team to provide the best possible
care for each resident. The home itself and the garden is lovely. My mum is very happy there and loves the fact that it is like living in an expensive hotel.

My mothers-in-law's care at Hazelhurst is exemplary. During the coronavirus crisis, we have been unable to visit her - the home locked down earlier than others, for which we are very grateful as the home has remained virus-free. We know that mum-in-law has been happy and safe throughout, due to the
efforts of the exceptional staff, who have enabled regular contact via video calls. The staff go above and beyond at all times, and we thank them for all their efforts.

My parents have been treated with the utmost dignity and respect. This made the last few months of my father's life very happy and fulfilled. As my mother transitions to the world of widowhood and lockdown, she continues to receive kindness, and the family keep in contact through Skype and phone calls.

My mum went to Hazelhurst Nursing Home end of January 2020 after spending three weeks in hospital. The care prior to Covid-19 lockdown was excellent. However, the care since lockdown has been absolutely "brilliant". My mum and the other residents have been looked after by the staff in such a great way
to protect them from the virus, it has really taken the pressure off me. I can only offer my heartfelt thanks to all the staff for their dedication and support for the residents and their families. Best wishes.

My mother has lived at Hazelhurst for the last two years. We have been very pleased with the level of care shown to her, all staff always showing her respect and maintaining her dignity. For us as a family, highlights include spending time in the glorious garden together and also the family “dining
in” nights. The staff take the time to organise activities that take into account the interests of each individual. More recently, during the lockdown, the efforts taken to help us maintain contact have been excellent. My mum couldn’t cope with seeing me on a video call. The staff worked to find a solution, and I now watch her regularly via WhatsApp as she interacts with the staff, unaware that I am watching. Just one example of the way the staff care for the individual and the family.

Set in picturesque countryside close to the Wye, with superbly kept and extensive grounds Hazelhurst has a safe and secure homely atmosphere. The care and support staff are always available for a chat on how Mum is doing day to day and the management team his highly professional and of course, knowledgeable
in implementing a regularly updated care plan.
There is a great range of activities, and the food is terrific!
In my experience, there are care homes and there are CARE homes – Hazelhurst is emphatically the latter.

When looking for a care home, Hazelhurst Nursing Home stood out head and shoulders above all the other care homes in the area.
It really is a lovely home, and the staff are always so kind and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Mum has just celebrated her 100th Birthday, and the staff made it a
really special day. They worked so hard, with a lovely cake, balloons, flower and so many cards.
We can't thank them enough.

The support and care shown to my Mum in a traumatic and terrible time have been such a comfort to me. They treat my Mum with dignity and constant care. This place is not a care home, it is a home from home.

I can't thank Hazelhurst staff enough for the care and attention they have shown my Mum. Since leaving hospital, where she was put on 'end of life pathway' she has regained her ability to eat and drink a little, walk with help and have a fairly meaningful conversation. She is now calm and peaceful
and knows people are kind. This has been amazing progress in only a few weeks and has only been possible with the dedication of the Hazelhurst Team. It is a delightful place to visit and has a fabulous range of activities and entertainments on offer along with endless refreshments. Not only has it helped Mum but has helped me too. Thank you, Hazelhurst.

The general quality of the service at Hazelhurst is outstanding. All queries are dealt with rapidly and clearly and in a most courteous and friendly manner. The atmosphere is one of genuine feeling and concern for both residents and family who are treated with the utmost dignity at all times. The building
itself is well maintained both inside and out and the interiors of all rooms are decorated tastefully throughout. Nothing is too much trouble and the management and staff act and work in a truly professional manner and each individual is treated according to their needs in a kindly and friendly way. It is virtually a home from home in a delightful setting.

I cannot rate this superb home highly enough. My father was only here for eight days for end of life care. The care he received was top class. All staff members showed respect for my father and all of our family. Nothing was too much trouble. I was kept informed of any changes that took place with Dad's
condition. Dad's last days were very calm, peaceful and dignified. Keep up the good work Hazelhurst. Thank you.

The nursing care, facilities (residents' rooms and common rooms), activities and wide range of menus provided by Hazelhurst leave absolutely nothing to be desired.
Daily attention to the extensive grounds ensures they are kept looking immaculate. Hazelhurst, therefore, merits a five-star rating.

From my experience, the staff have been caring and treated both my parents with dignity and respect.
However, they haven't managed to get my mum to brush her natural teeth and clean and remove her denture and soak it or assist with this.
Overall, I'm very happy with the environment, activities, food
and nursing care and would recommend this nursing home.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.962)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.962) out of 10 for Hazelhurst Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.987 for Hazelhurst Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (224 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 226 Ratings = 4.987
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hazelhurst Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
