Mum went into Heathbrook after a stay in hospital. I always said I would not like her going into a home, but she was not capable or safe to go back to her own home. From day one the staff could not do enough for mum and myself. They were caring supportive and did everything to help mum settle in which
was hard for her with her dementia. I cannot thank them enough for looking after her especially towards the end of her life and making it possible for me to be with her at the end especially in these difficult times with covid. All though Heathbrook is a home for the residents, the staff gave myself and family support above and beyond their remit. I cannot thank them enough.
Reply from Melanie Cope, Customer Service Adviser at Heathbrook House Care HomeWe thank you sincerely for taking your time to leave such a touching and wonderful review. We are so sorry for your loss, please let us know if there is anything further we can do for you at this time. We appreciate how difficult it can be to make the move into a care home and endeavour to make this as easy as we can for the families and relatives involved. We are so glad that during mums time with us you all felt supported and cared for. We will be sure to pass your lovely words on to the relevant people.

The wonderful staff at Heathbrook House have really helped my dad settle well into full-time care. They manage his medical needs really well and deal patiently with his dementia. He did not want to move into care but they were patient when he arrived and within weeks he was happier and more content
than he had been for years.
The food is lovely, lots of varied activities to stimulate and encourage social interaction. The “Daily Sparkle“ newspaper is very popular with short articles, old stories to reminisce and puzzles.
Dad's move into care was so made much easier than I expected and I felt very supported emotionally too.
The home has dealt well with Covid and the visiting room with glass partition and intercom works well even for those with dementia.
It will just be so lovely when we can go in and visit in person.

My father has been in Heathbrook since September 2019 and my mother and myself are very pleased with this care home. They have treated my father with respect and kindness and have a very caring, understanding and helpful atmosphere within the home. My dad feels very secure and we can see by his behaviour
that he's very relaxed and happy within this environment.

I cannot praise the staff enough for the wonderful end of life care they provided to my Mum from July to September 2020. The nurses, care staff, activities team and management team were all outstanding. They treat residents like their own family. They took time to get to know Mum and also me and were
a great support during this terrible time. They genuinely care about the residents and they treated Mum with absolute care, patience, total kindness and with utter respect. They ensured Mum had dignity at all times. Room was lovely and was clean. Food and refreshments in abundance (even though Mum was not eating much due to her illness). Personal care needs were taken care of extremely well and clothes were always properly washed and ironed and mum dressed well. Contact was maintained with Mum and me through Facetime sessions. I was able to visit in last week of Mums life and I was there at the end. The team were so caring and supportive at all times. I highly recommend this care home.

Heathbrook House, in my opinion, having a parent there is a very caring, loving and professional nursing home.
I have only known kindness, understanding to my mom and myself. You are informed and kept up to date with situations regarding their needs and health issues.
I have only good things to say
about Heathbrook House and I'm glad my mom is a resident there.

My uncle was transferred to Heathbrook House in July 19, since then he has made a massive improvement. My uncle is now walking with his frame, he laughs again and thankfully he is enjoying his life again.
My family truly believe that the constant care he has received from the staff has saved his life.
He has been singing, eating well and smiling a lot. The staff truly care for all of the residents and we no longer have to worry about his care. We know he is in safe hands. I would recommend this care home absolutely. A big thank you.

Mum is new to Heathbrook House just before lockdown. I am so pleased with the care and support Mum is receiving. We facetime twice a week also, phone twice a week. Staff are always happy to support Mum with the phone. Mum always looks clean, happy and well cared for. An excellent home, all the staff
are so dedicated.

We could not fault the care of my father. He asked for his room to be altered around; which the staff did. He had a brand new TV fitted. He was on permanent oxygen; which did not stop him from moving around the home, and they also supplied him with smaller oxygen cylinders for going out. The care of
the staff and nurses was wonderful, and they were so kind as well as efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent.

From the very first time we visited the home we knew we had chosen the right place for my father. The care he receives every single day is consistent and could not be better. He is always treated with compassion and kindness from every member of the team. The carers, in particular, have forged a wonderful
relationship with my father enabling him to feel dignified, respected and valued in every aspect of his stay.

My mother was a resident here for just over 12 weeks. She came here for end of life care as she had terminal cancer. From the moment she arrived, she relaxed and clearly felt safe. Her pain management was excellent right up until she passed away, which was very important for us both. The atmosphere
was always welcoming and peaceful, and I was delighted with the way my mother was treated. I live 75 miles away and visited very regularly, but was never worried about leaving her in this loving care.

Cannot thank the staff enough for not only the care but the support given to my uncle and family. Nothing was too much trouble for them, always had time to explain things to us as a family in non-medical terms. It wasn't like a nursing home, it was like a home. If my uncle wanted an ice lolly, one was
found. I was expecting to buy one from the nearest shop. For end of life care, I would recommend this home for someone to spend their last weeks as the care was fantastic.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.787)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.787) out of 10 for Heathbrook House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.787 for Heathbrook House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (221 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 277 Ratings = 4.787
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heathbrook House Care Home is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Over time, I have been fortunate to develop my position into much more than a traditional financial role. I truly value the relationships I build and love spending time with residents, staff, and family members. I am extremely proud to be part of the Heathbrook House family and to contribute to creating a warm, supportive environment for everyone.

Job Title: Receptionist Joined: 2016

My name is Donna, and I am the Receptionist here at Heathbrook House. I joined the team in 2016 following a recommendation from family, and it has been a wonderful place to work ever since.

My role involves maintaining the front of house, meeting and greeting all visitors, and acting as the first point of contact for enquiries. I take great pride in creating a warm and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors.
I thoroughly enjoy my role, particularly the opportunity to meet and interact with new people. I am always keen to learn new skills and continue developing my existing ones. I am also actively involved in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members, which I find incredibly rewarding.

I pride myself on being adaptable, approachable, and always willing to help and support others in any way I can.

Job Title: Chef Manager Joined: 2024

I joined Heathbrook House as an Assistant Chef in August 2024 and was delighted to quickly progress into the role of Chef Manager. Food has always been my passion, and I take great pride in creating delicious, nutritious meals each day that meet the needs of our residents.

Last year, I was shortlisted to take part in the Great Bupa Menu competition and reached the final stages. This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase my skills to a wider audience, and I was especially proud of how well my vegan menu was received.
I am committed and dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for our residents, with a particular strength in developing and delivering modified diets. I am always keen to try new ideas and continuously improve, and I greatly value feedback on the meals that my team and I provide.

Job Title: Senior Activities Joined: 2025

My name is Sophia, and I am the Senior Activities Coordinator at Heathbrook House. My team and I are committed to providing a wide range of activities that are adaptable to all abilities, ensuring equal access to meaningful engagement for every resident.

We take the time to get to know each individual, exploring their life history, personal preferences, and interests, as well as their likes and dislikes. This enables us to create personalised and meaningful experiences that truly enhance their well-being.

I have also played a significant role in enhancing the care home environment by creating purposeful and inviting spaces that offer alternatives to the traditional care home lounge. Residents can entertain visitors in our bistro-style conservatory or enjoy special moments with loved ones in our private dining room.

Additionally, we have an outdoor café that is particularly popular during the warmer, drier days. Our residents have recently been involved in creating a beautiful outdoor garden space. By tapping into their skills and experiences, this project has become a resounding success and a wonderful talking point within the home.

I facilitate a resident-led committee that plays a key role in shaping our activity programme. This ensures that the individuals living here are truly at the heart of everything we do, influencing both the activities we deliver and the overall experiences we provide.
