It is a very nice comfortable home. Staff excellent, friendly, helpful, cheerful, courteous always. Food is good. The only thing is the rooms need to be redecorated in cheerful colours. A bit dull and maybe a phone point! Otherwise very pleased with the overall standard of care, but maybe more activities.
None seen, only St Patricks day.

My husband was resident at Heathbrook for 4 months,m receiving palliative care for terminal skin cancer of the cranium. The staff all treated him with kindness, patience, gentle attention and were professional at all times. As his condition deteriorated he was afforded respect and dignity. The food
was monotonous and uninspiring, bland and relatively tasteless. Nevertheless, the kitchen staff did all they could to tempt my husband to eat. The most difficult task was dressing his head at the cancer site. It was challenging and difficult but the staff never made my husband aware of that.

The care of my husband has been second to none. We had great difficulty in finding a home that would take him. We were made to feel welcome immediately by all members of staff. Residents are treated with dignity, kindness and the greatness of care. Food is also excellent. Thank you Heathbrook family.
Treated with great kindness and understanding.

We had a rough start finding a home for Dad, then Heathbrook were involved. They have been faultless from the start, they have treated all of us with such care and the dignity they give families and residents is faultless.
I could not ask for better for my family. It is a beautifully kept home and
every member of staff deserves a medal in my mind. Fantastic.

The home was a lovely, caring home. I was looked after so very well, nothing was too much or too small. I was made so welcome, it was home from home. The care workers were very well mannered and helpful, and very, very kind.
The home and rooms were very clean.
While I was there my mother passed away
and they made sure I was ok, keeping popping to talk and make sure how I was feeling. After worrying about going away, not knowing as have nothing to do with care homes before, I didn't want to leave.

Our brother in law was a resident at Heathbrook from March 2016 - November 2017.
During the whole of that time, he was looked after most excellently by the staff. He was extremely happy and often remarked on the excellent food.
We can only offer our grateful thanks to everyone at the home for their
care.

My husband was admitted to Heathbrook House in September 2017. He was suffering with widespread terminal cancer. The care and kindness he received from the nurses and all the staff was exemplary.
Unfortunately, he lost his battle with cancer. In his final few weeks, he was kept as pain-free as possible
and treated with dignity and respect.

My stay at Heathbrook House was very pleasant and enjoyable right from my arrival to my departure (ten days), I felt most welcomed. Once I had explained my level of needs I was monitored/helped as requested.
Watching staff with other residents in far worse condition to myself, I saw caring, patience
and lots of compassion under some difficult situations.
The meals during my stay were varied, appetising, nutritious and substantial, in fact, my appetite increased over my stay.
With no rain and a beach, I could not have stayed at a better 'holiday hotel' and the underfloor heating at Heathbrook House is a dream!

The care home is very pleasant, clean and well kept.
My uncle has access to the small but well cared for gardens.
The food is of a high standard with a wide choice and you are able to request specific items if preferred.
The food is freshly prepared in the kitchen.
The staff are friendly and professional.
They
treat the residents with dignity and nothing seems too much trouble.

Dad has resided at the home for almost three years.
During that time he has declined in his condition of dementia and has gone from being active to chair/bed bound.
Throughout this period he has always been treated with dignity and respect and his care has been appropriately managed in line with his
needs.
The care staff are kind and considerate with all the residents and try very hard to give support appropriate to their needs.

A very good impression when we arrived to initially view the care home.
It appears professionally lead by the manager and under manager who are always available to discuss any matters that arise.
The staff are very friendly and each member always has time to say 'hello' in passing etc.
A pleasant
reception and activities staff.
The staff are very keen that anything discussed is dealt with quickly and requests sorted promptly.
The rooms sometimes need a bit more of a thorough vacuum etc, seems this is not done daily.
Sometimes a bit more support generally could be taken.
A great conservatory.

My mother first went in for a months respite in December 2016.
She went into hospital for a month and went back to Heathbrook for care as she couldn't look after herself.
The staff were friendly and professional in looking after her. She required palliative care in the last few days and this was
excellent.
Support was extended to myself and my brother.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.787)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.787) out of 10 for Heathbrook House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.787 for Heathbrook House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (221 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 277 Ratings = 4.787
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heathbrook House Care Home is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I thoroughly enjoy my role, particularly the opportunity to meet and interact with new people. I am always keen to learn new skills and continue developing my existing ones. I am also actively involved in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members, which I find incredibly rewarding.

I pride myself on being adaptable, approachable, and always willing to help and support others in any way I can.

Job Title: Chef Manager Joined: 2024

I joined Heathbrook House as an Assistant Chef in August 2024 and was delighted to quickly progress into the role of Chef Manager. Food has always been my passion, and I take great pride in creating delicious, nutritious meals each day that meet the needs of our residents.

Last year, I was shortlisted to take part in the Great Bupa Menu competition and reached the final stages. This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase my skills to a wider audience, and I was especially proud of how well my vegan menu was received.
I am committed and dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for our residents, with a particular strength in developing and delivering modified diets. I am always keen to try new ideas and continuously improve, and I greatly value feedback on the meals that my team and I provide.

Job Title: Senior Activities Joined: 2025

My name is Sophia, and I am the Senior Activities Coordinator at Heathbrook House. My team and I are committed to providing a wide range of activities that are adaptable to all abilities, ensuring equal access to meaningful engagement for every resident.

We take the time to get to know each individual, exploring their life history, personal preferences, and interests, as well as their likes and dislikes. This enables us to create personalised and meaningful experiences that truly enhance their well-being.

I have also played a significant role in enhancing the care home environment by creating purposeful and inviting spaces that offer alternatives to the traditional care home lounge. Residents can entertain visitors in our bistro-style conservatory or enjoy special moments with loved ones in our private dining room.

Additionally, we have an outdoor café that is particularly popular during the warmer, drier days. Our residents have recently been involved in creating a beautiful outdoor garden space. By tapping into their skills and experiences, this project has become a resounding success and a wonderful talking point within the home.

I facilitate a resident-led committee that plays a key role in shaping our activity programme. This ensures that the individuals living here are truly at the heart of everything we do, influencing both the activities we deliver and the overall experiences we provide.
