This is the care home where you'd want your loved one to live. All the staff are lovely, friendly and professional. They go over and above to look after the residents, seeking their feedback and making little improvements on an individual basis to improve the quality of life. The activities are varied and engaging and the special events make all the difference to the residents - the lifestyle team are amazing.

Mum has, within the past few months, had to be moved upstairs to the nursing floor of The Lawns due to the gradual deterioration of her health. It was difficult for me to accept this change, however, the staff on the nursing floor are absolutely amazing. Mum has settled down well despite becoming more and more reliant on the staff for her everyday needs. The standard of care is excellent, and the staff are just beyond amazing for their warmth, care and how much they do for each and every resident. I come away from seeing Mum knowing that she is in excellent hands and being cared for with kindness, and I want to thank each and every member of staff for what they do, every single day.

The Lawns care home is run by a superbly organised, professional and dedicated manager as well as staff. My cousin has been delighted to live there and made many friends over the last three years. She has enjoyed taking part in varied activities offered on a daily basis. The accommodation and general living areas are superb and spotless. As relatives and friends paying a visit, we are always welcomed and delighted to see us. I can highly recommend it.

After 5 weeks spent in hospital, we were lucky enough to secure a place at The Lawns for my mother-in-law. From her arrival, she was welcomed by all the staff and settled much better than I was expecting. It is such a warm and friendly home where nothing seems too much trouble. She has become more sociable than I've seen her in many years, all thanks to the fantastic staff. I no longer have to worry about her being on her own at home, home is now The Lawns, and we could not have found anywhere better for her.

The care and attention my father received was outstanding, so professional, nothing was too much trouble, I could not fault them in any way. The entire two years my father was there was just the same very high standard.

After a bad fall at the end of May, A&E, then hospital for 3 weeks and then being transferred to another care home for three weeks, Mum managed to get a room on the nursing floor. She has ongoing untreatable problems and has been caringly looked after by nursing staff and assistants. The home has a welcoming feel and the staff ratio is really good. If I had to go in for end-of-life care I would be happy to go the The Lawns.

My father was looked after very well in the few months he was at the home. He needed a great deal of personal care and was treated with the utmost resect. He seemed happy and joined in with the many activities and also formed a close bond with staff who were all lovely. Thank you.

Excellent care home. Plenty of parking spaces. Everyone seems very friendly and helpful. So nice to be able to take our dog in and our friend appreciates and is happy to see her. My friend is very happy there. She says the food is really good and there’s plenty of choice. Thank you!

My father moved into The Lawns on 14/01/2024, after his partner had died and the funeral had only been two days before. There wasn’t a room in the residential care, so he has been in a nursing bedroom until he can move to residential next week. Every effort was made to help me, by giving him a place when it was needed, for which I am so grateful!
The staff couldn’t have been more caring, friendly and helpful, to both Dad and myself. The stimulation he is getting from the attention of the staff, the activities available and the encouragement to mix with others, is wonderful. He has only been there for four days and he is already looking better than he has looked for months, despite the massive changes in his life over the last three weeks.

I am amazed at how wonderful this home is proving to be. Thank you to all of the staff.

I cannot thank the manager and staff enough for the excellent care my uncle receives. I can honestly say you nursed him back to life, considering he was placed with your home on an end-of-life care package, so the expertise, care, love, and patience you have given/shown considering we are going into our 5th year we you speaks volumes. There is always a smile and a cheery face when visiting and you leave knowing your loved one is in good hands and content. A special thank you to one staff member in particular for all you have done for our family.

Overall Experience
I recently spent a week's respite at The Lawns after a hip replacement. The staff were friendly, welcoming, caring and considerate and the standard of care was very high. My room was spotless, bright and airy; the perfect place to recuperate and get stronger before returning home.

I was invited to join in activities if I wished to do so and enjoyed a gentle exercise class one morning which was also beneficial for my recovery.

The meals were excellent, with a variety of choices to cater for all tastes. I ate some meals in my room but enjoyed joining other residents in the dining room at lunchtime and being able to chat. Even though my stay was short, I felt that members of staff made time to get to know me and my likes and dislikes which made my stay an exceedingly enjoyable one. It was my birthday before I left and I was made to feel very special.

I would thoroughly recommend staying at The Lawns.

Thank you.

The manager and the team at the home do really care about the residents and it’s shown in the interactions that they have with my grandad. Nothing is too much trouble and the home itself is very modern and clean unlike others we visited where they are dated.

Thank you for everything you do for him

The Lawns took my aunt into their welcoming and caring arms at a time of painful need. We are very grateful as a family that we could relax knowing she was having the best care. She loved being at The Lawns albeit for such a short time.

My uncle then chose to come to The Lawns without needing nursing care. He is really grateful for the day-to-day care and attention he receives. There are so many interesting activities that he could join in with including trips to the pub. Also, the banter with staff and management is Grist to Mill of life!

The Lawns is a lovely inclusive environment where Mum has been made to feel very welcome, is well cared for and treated with respect. the staff truly do live by the mantra that they work in the resident's home. The rooms are well cared for and beautifully clean. As guests, we are always warmly welcomed. There are numerous activities to engage residents which are well prepared and delivered. My mother came to The Lawns once a week for a bath and hair wash. The manager ensured that everyone involved with this was aware of her particular physical problems so that, despite her anxieties, my mother enjoyed the whole experience. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the lovely lounge afterwards, sipping tea whilst watching the fish swim round the pool in the courtyard garden (a really lovely feature). All the staff we met were friendly and caring and looked after my mum very well.

I write as a retired Professor of Medicine with long experience in clinical care. The treatment of my wife has been exemplary in every respect. So much so that when she attended the hospital for a review following the excision of a tumour the surgeon and nursing sister both said that the total care including nursing was so good at The Lawns, that they would with confidence, discharge my wife for the care home to continue management of the wound as it healed, with no more for the hospital to follow up.

It has taken me a while to leave a review after the death of my mother, but I feel I must say that care at The Lawns was extremely poor especially after Mum went into the Full Nursing Care section. Staffing at night is almost non-existent, especially at weekends and it got so bad at the end of Mum's life that the family had to call "111" and "999" as we couldn't get any assistance at all from the one night nurse when Mum was in extreme pain for several hours. Mum's room was very shabby and the whole floor looked very tired. I would not recommend this Care Home and as a family, we are still shaken by the poor care Mum received.

Sincere condolences for your loss. It is a shame your review reflects limited contact with us during your mother's 2-year stay. The content of this review is not reflective of family feedback about the care and support provided by the team.

My mother came to The Lawns for respite care following a fall and hospital stay. We found the home to be very clean, spacious and welcoming. The manager and her team have been wonderful with Mum and nothing was too much trouble for them. Mum settled in very quickly and soon made friends with the lovely residents. She was mentally stimulated with activities and physically encouraged which helped her recovery. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely place.
