The Lawns Nursing Home, in Kempsey, near Worcester, is an award-winning home with a reputation for the highest standards of care. Nominated for the Gold Standard Framework for provision of End of Life Care "Care Home of the Year" award in 2019, and in October 2022 reaccredited with the Platinum Award for the next 3 years.

The home opened a new purpose-built extension of 22 beds in late 2018 which caters for both residential and nursing residents as well as a recent extensive refurbishment of the Manor House which is the oldest part of the home. Staff believe the best way for you to find out more about the home is to speak to the resident ambassador, residents and their families, to read the reviews for the care that is provided and of course to come and visit the home, open any time.

Family values are important to The Lawns, and they pride themselves on providing a warm and friendly homely environment supporting both residents and their families. The lifestyle and well-being team are dedicated to providing a varied and full programme of events, ranging from individual beauty therapies to charity dog shows to themed weeks and evenings. They encourage independent living as much as possible, from being involved in the preparation of meals to getting out of the home where possible. Families are always welcome to also attend outings.

Care is delivered by a registered nursing team and long-serving care and ancillary teams.

The Lawns specialises in providing end-of-life care and has obtained Gold Standard Framework Platinum status in this speciality. They also care for younger adults with a range of conditions, including acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions.

The Lawns took my aunt into their welcoming and caring arms at a time of painful need. We are very grateful as a family that we could relax knowing she was having the best care. She loved being at The Lawns albeit for such a short time.
My uncle then chose to come to The Lawns without needing nursing
care. He is really grateful for the day-to-day care and attention he receives. There are so many interesting activities that he could join in with including trips to the pub. Also, the banter with staff and management is Grist to Mill of life!

The Lawns is a lovely inclusive environment where Mum has been made to feel very welcome, is well cared for and treated with respect. the staff truly do live by the mantra that they work in the resident's home. The rooms are well cared for and beautifully clean. As guests, we are always warmly welcomed.
There are numerous activities to engage residents which are well prepared and delivered. The manager ensures that standards remain high.

My mother came to The Lawns once a week for a bath and hair wash. The manager ensured that everyone involved with this was aware of her particular physical problems so that, despite her anxieties, my mother enjoyed the whole experience. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the lovely lounge afterwards,
sipping tea whilst watching the fish swim round the pool in the courtyard garden (a really lovely feature). All the staff we met were friendly and caring and looked after my mum very well.

I write as a retired Professor of Medicine with long experience in clinical care. The treatment of my wife has been exemplary in every respect. So much so that when she attended the hospital for a review following the excision of a tumour the surgeon and nursing sister both said that the total care
including nursing was so good at The Lawns, that they would with confidence, discharge my wife for the care home to continue management of the wound as it healed, with no more for the hospital to follow up.

It has taken me a while to leave a review after the death of my mother, but I feel I must say that care at The Lawns was extremely poor especially after Mum went into the Full Nursing Care section. Staffing at night is almost non-existent, especially at weekends and it got so bad at the end of Mum's
life that the family had to call "111" and "999" as we couldn't get any assistance at all from the one night nurse when Mum was in extreme pain for several hours. Mum's room was very shabby and the whole floor looked very tired. I would not recommend this Care Home and as a family, we are still shaken by the poor care Mum received.

My mother came to The Lawns for respite care following a fall and hospital stay. We found the home to be very clean, spacious and welcoming. The manager and her team have been wonderful with Mum and nothing was too much trouble for them. Mum settled in very quickly and soon made friends with the lovely
residents. She was mentally stimulated with activities and physically encouraged which helped her recovery. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely place.

Highly recommend The Lawns Nursing Care.
My mum was here for eight weeks, and I could not fault the care my mum received.
All staff who cared for Mum not only took the time to get to know Mum, but they also supported us as a family at what was a difficult time.
Always reassured that when we left
Mum she would be looked after and cared for.
The staff were consistent, professional and empathetic.
The opportunity for activities and a day did not go by where staff were engaged with residents to provide activities and stimulation.
Forever thankful to each and every person who cared for our mum.

My mother-in-law was discharged to The Lawns from the hospital on palliative care at the start of the pandemic.
It was a hard time to have a family member who, at the time, was considered to be near end of life. The communication and the policies and procedures in place made us feel confident that
she was in the right place.
Under the care of The Lawns, my mother-in-law rallied and spent two years as a happy resident. I think her highlights were probably a visit to an Alpaca farm and a visit from some therapy ponies. Horses have been a life-long love of hers.
The team have been fantastic from admission through to her sad passing on Boxing Day 2022. I can't praise them highly enough, including the support the manager has given us following my mother-in-law's death.

When my mother suffered a collapse in her health in 2022 and needed residential care The Lawns was the only contender, offering every reassurance. My wife's mother was well looked after there several years ago. The staff were always friendly and interested in my visits and enriching activities occur
almost every day. The Lawns in well-appointed light and spacious rooms. The manager is hands-on and is capable of preventative management of the inevitable situations as they arise. Mum liked the food and the atmosphere which was a boon as she was often difficult. Her needs were assessed/risk assessed and we were kept informed on a regular basis. The Lawns gave us peace and reassurance after a prolonged difficult spell.

Visiting a loved one in a nursing home can be a challenging experience. The inevitable comparison between how the person was with how Alzheimer's takes so much away is like a drawn-out bereavement. Then there is the guilt. Though the time comes when a nursing home is the right option, the regrets that
it has to be so never end.
I remember my first visit to The Lawns. An attractive building with a light-filled, soaring reception space gave a perfect first impression. Cheerful, I thought. Like the kind, happy receptionist. I knew from what I'd read that the manager has an outstanding background in nursing. Meeting her didn't disappoint as she showed me a lovely room, newly refreshed. A safe bed with high sides and ample pillows that my partner would draw comfort from as she held them close. Every one of the carers I met seemed happy and cheerful. And when the end came, they couldn't have been kinder.
I'd like to say a word too about the financial aspect. The gentleman I dealt with put himself out to be helpful. No wonder The Lawns often has a waiting list.

After a prolonged hospital stay, and an unsuccessful return to her sheltered housing flat, we felt my mother-in-law needed 24/7 nursing care. From our first meeting at The Lawns with the manager, through to assessment and admission, we were very impressed by the caring, compassionate, supportive and
professional approach offered by all staff. The transition for my mother-in-law has not been easy and her needs are increasing. The peace of mind we have, as we live a few hours away, is knowing that she is treated well and we feel very reassured by our phone conversations with the home. We are very thankful for all the care my mother-in-law is receiving. The Lawns is very welcoming when we visit and the rooms are homely, especially as we could add personal touches with photos and flowers.

My mother moved into The Lawns Nursing and Residential Home in the first few days of May because her on-going health needs meant she could no longer be cared for at home. The transition from home to care home went really well, and the thorough assessment that was done before she moved has ensured she
is getting the level of care she needs. She has settled in, and I have noticed a significant improvement in her well-being and general demeanour. She feels relaxed because she knows she is being looked after and so she's happy to be there. The staff are kind and considerate, and attentive to her needs. The building is in very good condition, and very homely. Mum likes having her pictures on the walls and her photographs on display, and that helps make her room feel like home. It's a pleasure to visit her there and I am confident she's getting the care she needs.

My mother moved from another highly rated nursing care home, and I cannot emphasise enough the improvement we have seen in her happiness and health since she moved to The Lawns Nursing and Residential Home. There is also much improvement in her mobility and socialising, and this can only be attributed
to the encouragement she now receives. Finally, during every visit, she tells us how friendly and hard working the management and caring staff are.

The lady relative has been a resident for eight years and has received wonderful care. She has deteriorated during this time in a natural manner but not due to any lack of care by the staff. The last two years have taken their toll due to the difficulty of visiting due to Covid. We have always been

I recently spent 2 weeks in respite at The Lawns Nursing and Residential Home and they looked after me really well. The staff were excellent and very friendly. I would certainly consider using them again for any future respite care I may require. Thank you all.

This is my mother's second care home after confusional episodes meant the first became unsuitable for her needs. The Lawns was a godsend, with immediate assessment, understanding and resolution of her requirements and all over the busy Christmas period and during general covid restrictions. Consequent
intermittent confusions after TIAs have been coped with, showing firmness and sympathy and this has been instrumental in helping her to settle contentedly. We particularly appreciate the lack of continuous alarms/beeps/bells having experienced these at my mother-in-law's nursing home and found them distracting. We visit 2-3 times a week and are always impressed by the friendly greetings, information and professionalism of all the staff.
