The Lawns Nursing Home, in Kempsey, near Worcester, is an award-winning home with a reputation for the highest standards of care. Nominated for the Gold Standard Framework for provision of End of Life Care "Care Home of the Year" award in 2019, and in October 2022 reaccredited with the Platinum Award for the next 3 years.

The home opened a new purpose-built extension of 22 beds in late 2018 which caters for both residential and nursing residents as well as a recent extensive refurbishment of the Manor House which is the oldest part of the home. Staff believe the best way for you to find out more about the home is to speak to the resident ambassador, residents and their families, to read the reviews for the care that is provided and of course to come and visit the home, open any time.

Family values are important to The Lawns, and they pride themselves on providing a warm and friendly homely environment supporting both residents and their families. The lifestyle and well-being team are dedicated to providing a varied and full programme of events, ranging from individual beauty therapies to charity dog shows to themed weeks and evenings. They encourage independent living as much as possible, from being involved in the preparation of meals to getting out of the home where possible. Families are always welcome to also attend outings.

Care is delivered by a registered nursing team and long-serving care and ancillary teams.

The Lawns specialises in providing end-of-life care and has obtained Gold Standard Framework Platinum status in this speciality. They also care for younger adults with a range of conditions, including acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions.

A very caring staff. It is very clean. I was mostly in my brother's room as he didn't want to do many activities provided. Very good for those who wish to partake. Pleasant seating, outside garden well cared for. Visited quite often. Everyone very friendly.

My friend has settled into The Lawns. We have nothing but praise for The Lawns. The staff are wonderful, they work tirelessly. We attended their royal wedding party, it was wonderful. Keep up the good work, we love visiting.

My mother-in-law was a very independent woman and had insisted throughout her illness to stay at home. In the end she gave in and was received at the Lawns, Kempsey.
Sadly it was for such a brief period but she was so happy and loved the staff. All of them came to see her when they had a moment. She
really loved and appreciated all they did for her.
My wife and I saw the kindness and professionalism in all of the staff and her happy time at The Lawns was a huge relief for us and the family.
I wish them all the very best.

Staff are caring, extremely polite and treat everyone with dignity and respect. Staff members are very helpful and include residents in activities that are relevant to their needs/abilities. The facilities are clean and tidy and well maintained. There are currently improvements underway which does not

I am now visiting my 4th relative at The Lawns Nursing Home, Kempsey - one thing that in itself says a great deal about what I think. The staff have been caring to not only the patient but also to me. There is always something to ask and always someone there to spend time answering queries or give reassurance.
The premises are spotlessly clean and there are no unpleasant odours.

My mother was very happy at The Lawns Nursing Home, she was lonely at home on her own and found it difficult to bath etc.
At The Lawns, she was happier than I had seen her for years. The love and care were superb.

I am a regular visitor to The Lawns to provide entertainment to the residents on a voluntary basis. I have always been impressed with the happy atmosphere in the home and the efficient and courteous attitude of the staff. The staff are caring and knowledgeable. They do an excellent job in difficult circumstances. Almost all the residents have severe mental and physical disabilities which are dealt with patiently and kindly by the staff. A lot of effort goes into events designed to improve connectivity between the residents
and the outside world, for example, the seasons and events like Wimbledon etc. Great effort is made to get to know the residents as individuals and to understand them, what they enjoy and to give them quality life experiences.
They are doing a job which most of us could not do effectively or willingly.

My father has been a resident of The Lawns Nursing Home for over two years and in that time his care has been exemplary. Living some distance from The Lawns Nursing Home I have absolute trust and faith in all the staff to ensure my father's well-being. The staff are always attentive, caring and professional
whilst remaining friendly and supportive. My mother who is a regular visitor is treated as part of the family and is very well supported by the staff.

It was very important for me to find Dad the best possible care when his complex medical needs required 24-hour care. The Lawns Nursing Home provided this. The way my dad was treated with dignity by all the members of the team was outstanding. I had the utmost confidence that when I could not be there
to care for my Dad, Lawns Nursing Home took very good care of him. I would absolutely have no hesitation in recommending The Lawns Nursing Home as an outstanding care facility.

Sam is a Registered General Nurse, a dedicated professional with experience in Hospice Care and Nursing Home Care.


She is the lead clinician on the nursing unit for The Lawns and is a deputy manager who supports the day-to-day operations of the unit, ensures work runs smoothly, and targets are met. Sam provides guidance and steps in when the manager is unavailable. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills are key skills for her role.
