My mother has been at Isle Court for over a month. We couldn't have hoped for a better transition. Everyone has been amazing. Very helpful, welcoming and kind and caring. We are very happy that Mum has settled in so well. She loves going in with the varied activities. Reception always gives us a friendly
warm welcome. Mum enjoys all the food. The kitchen even made her a birthday cake. Thank you to everyone.

I know we all get the same image when we hear the word care home. Nothing could be further from the truth when you walk into Isle Lane for the first time. My very first thought was wow it's like walking into an hotel not what I was expecting at all after a previous experience. From the girls on reception
to the staff cleaning the corridors and rooms, everyone has a warm welcome and just make you feel comfortable with the surroundings. The care team do a fantastic job nothing is too much, you ask and they will do their very best to sort as soon as possible. The management team seem to have an open door policy which works as you are only there for a short period of time while visiting. Well done everyone at Isle Court you made my dads last few weeks very happy for him.

Isle Court in Shrewsbury provides exceptional care in a warm and welcoming environment. My mum is very well cared for, and even though she prefers her own company, the staff gently encourage her to participate in activities, fostering a sense of inclusion. The food is excellent, and I've been consistently
impressed with the high standards of personal hygiene assistance my mum receives. The home and its facilities are impeccably clean. The staff are incredibly friendly, always greeting me and my family with a smile and making us feel welcome. Their dedication and genuine care are evident in everything they do. Isle Court is a place where residents are treated with dignity and respect, and I'm truly grateful for the peace of mind they provide.

Over the last few months my mum and our families lives have been turn upside down due to her illness, making the decision to place my mum in to a nursing home was the hardest decision we have ever had to make!! my mum was a fit active independent lady who lost her health and mobility in a short space
of time. From the minute mum arrived at Isle court until her final minutes and after she was treated with love, empathy and dignity and with the highest level of care. All the staff we met on my mums journey were exceptional from the manager to reception to health care, to nurses to cleaners and the kitchen / stewards they were all amazing the love and care they provide to us as a family was truly outstanding I can not express how grateful we are to you all. You have made the hardest times of our lives bearable with the kindness love and support you have all shown to us we will always be forever thankful to you.
You truly are amazing! Thank you

As a family we never wanted mum or dad to live in a care home, unfortunately we exhausted all options to keep mum safe at home due to her living with Dementia. But now as a family we are all completely thrilled with mum's progress since moving into Isle court. She had spent many weeks in & out of hospital
& we didn't hold out much hope going forward. Now she is a different woman, she has picked up so well, vibrant & full of life again. She tells us all how she loves her new home, she feels so comfortable in her own room with everything she needs on hand. The staff are excellent & so respectful towards her. As a family we have no worries knowing she is being cared for 24/7 . Nothing is too much trouble, she is very well cared for & we always feel so welcome by all the staff, whatever their role within the home. This is a very well led home with such dedicated people, beautiful home inside & out. The future is now much brighter.

Despite being hours from dying, anticipatory medicines were not administered to my mother despite being asked for by myself. Instead, the nurse stated that she was looking up protocol and did so for more than an hour. My Mum had lapsed into unconsciousness by the time she did come to check on her. The
same nurse did not telephone a different family member, when the call to mine informing me of a deterioration was missed. (It was usual for the other family member to receive a call.) The staff range from being excellent to being indifferent, some even rude. There is a language barrier issue with many staff. Staffing is also inconsistent leading to confusion or lack of knowledge regarding appropriate care. For example, one staff member asked if I would encourage my mother to eat. I had to explain to her that she did not want food as she was dying. She seemed to be unaware of her status. Short staffing is evident.
Reply from Claire Harris, General Manager at Isle Court Nursing HomeThank you for your review, despite the rating and comments. We as a home have tried to reach out to you on several occasions to discuss this with no joy. End of life care we know many people don't fully understand, we as a home do our best as we did with your loved one and EOL medications were not deemed necessary by GPs & Nurses at that time. We are sorry for your loss and we enjoyed having you & your loved one stay with us for 1 year and 8 months with no issues raised and as you say Excellent care provided. We understand this is a difficult time for you, please know we are here if you wish to reach out to us.

We never ever thought my mum would have to become a resident of a nursing home. Working full time and very active lady my mum has had excellent care from the moment she arrived here. She has been treated with respect and dignity which has helped us as a family on this journey. The management and staff

Mum was only in Isle Court for a short period of time before she sadly passed away. However during her stay we found the the care to be excellent, the staff caring and cheerful and all areas of home were spotless. Residents were encouraged to use the lounge and dinning areas, which were welcoming and
friendly with activities for those who wished to get involved. The food was wonderful and whenever we visited we were made to feel welcome. It was a place I liked to visit. I would like to pass on our heartfelt thanks to all the staff for the care they gave mum.

My mom had always said never put me in a nursing home but after a fall she had to go in to recuperate. Since then she has settled in and decided that she wants to stay. The staff have been so kind to her and nothing is ever too much trouble. Everyone treats her with respect and takes time to have a
chat with her, which she loves. Mom enjoys the food and as she gets to know some of the residents she is starting to join in some of the activities.

My brother was discharged from hospital 4 months ago. From the beginning we found Isle Court to be very welcoming where the staff were prepared to support his individual care needs. He has been encouraged to join in a variety of daily activities living life to the full. The maintenance team have helped
to hang pictures and pin board where he can display newspaper cutting that he has found interesting. Home from home.

My uncle was given notice to quit the care home he was living in, it was a home Registered for Dementia patients but they said they couldn't manage his behaviour.(Strange but true). He was assessed by wonderful staff from Isle Court and they felt they could meet his needs. Since he has moved to Isle
Court he is a changed man! The care and support is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

The staff's skills and knowledge of people with Dementia are exceptional. The actives co-ordinator is incredible and provides constantly varied activities.
I'm kept up to date about his health and care at all times.

A good staff team needs a good leader and the Registered Manager is certainly that! She always has time for you. The building, environment and ground are simply outstanding. I was a Registered Care home Manager for 19 years and experienced many inspections from CQC. Isle Court deserves a rating of outstanding!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.779)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.779) out of 10 for Isle Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 57 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.779 for Isle Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (614 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (21 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 678 Ratings = 4.779
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Isle Court Nursing Home is based on 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 82 registered maximum number of service users is 16.4, which has been reached with 54 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
