We went to the Garden Centre, where we had a lovely time. I used my wheelchair as my husband and another resident had a carer pushing them in their wheelchairs. It was really good going round the garden centre and then went for a light lunch in the restaurant. We made our way back to the mini-bus and
back to the care home. All had enjoyed our time. We had a leisurely afternoon with a cup of tea and a slice of cake. Perfect.

My grandad is currently in Oldbury Grange. The care he has received has been amazing. Everyone is very attentive and nothing seems to be too much trouble. He gets confused easily and makes calls home worried, which when we call the home to check on him (in his room) they calm him down, and attend to
him straight away! Very impressed!

My dad has been in care since January 2024 and I cannot fault the level of care he has received here at Oldbury Grange.
The staff are all amazing, so kind and caring and genuinely do all that they can do to make the residents happy and content.
The food is of a very high standard and my dad always
praises the catering staff. The entertainment team are also great with lots of different activities to keep the residents busy and mentally stimulated. Overall a wonderful home.

My mother has been a resident for 12 months now and her overall health and welfare have improved considerably by being here. The staff are excellent showing empathy and care and treating my mother with dignity. Her room is well-appointed and generally clean. Laundry is not always returned to the correct
resident. All concerns are always responded to and acted on very happy that she is well cared for.

Mum has previously been in another care home prior to Oldbury. The management and staff are friendly and helpful, and treat Mum with love and respect and visitors. The food is very good, plenty of choice, and activities for everyone to take part in. Well done Oldbury.

Since my father has been at Oldbury Grange he has improved 100%. When he came out of hospital he was a mess. The management, staff and nurses have been fantastic and he is really happy. I have been in the social area when the staff have had to deal with some difficult situations and dealt with them
really well.

My mother is extremely contented at Oldbury Grange. She has a good relationship with the staff and is extremely grateful for all their help and care. she remains mentally alert, in part, I believe due to the conversations and interactions that she has with the staff. Having just met the new manager,
it is clear to see mother really likes her and I am hopeful that my mother will continue to enjoy her final years at Oldbury.

My mother had relapsed overnight, so we were contacted. The required medication was not available, and the staff spent all afternoon trying to locate it. We were able to stay overnight as we live a distance away, and we could not have been treated better. Several of the staff are truly excellent in
their care for both the residents and family. At all times, we were kept informed of the situation and truly felt included and considered,

My cousin has always been looked after with love and care. Every member of staff is kind and thoughtful, and they all have a genuine affection for her. My cousin is bedridden but has been hoisted into her special chair and taken to the lounge to be part of events that are taking place.

My mother was admitted for end-of-life care and stayed for approximately a week. I have nothing but praise for the care she received. Everybody was compassionate and kind, both to her and to myself and other family members. Nothing was too much for them. This was a very difficult time, but I am so grateful
to all the staff for their wonderful work.

My father was in an upstairs flat. As he became older, we supplied help and meals. We decided to encourage Dad to try the Oldbury Grange. He knew several people there, so there was no problem settling Dad in his new home. The house is really nice, and the staff are super. They are very welcoming to
family members, and our father likes them all. The little sip of wine with his dinner was a winner!
Reply from Janet Pannell, Interim Head of Operations at Oldbury Grange Nursing HomeThank you for your feedback regarding the care provided to your father at Oldbury Grange. When my 98-year-old mother, with dementia, suffered several mini stoked during the Covid lockdown, the manager at Oldbury Grange took control, organised a room and dealt with all of the agencies involved. The staff at Oldbury are fully engaged in their roles and offer care, affection and dignity to
their residents from the always cheerful reception to the nursing, care and support staff; everyone is smiling and laughing. All my fears for my mother's well-being have faded away. Thank you.
Reply from Vanessa Davies, Head of Operations at Oldbury Grange Nursing HomeThank you very much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. The team at Oldbury work hard to ensure our residents are safe and well cared for; whilst doing this, they have always got a smile, although often hidden behind a mask, and they love to have fun involving the residents too.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.932)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.932) out of 10 for Oldbury Grange Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 72 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 72 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.932 for Oldbury Grange Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (798 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 852 Ratings = 4.932
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oldbury Grange Nursing Home is based on 72 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 69 registered maximum number of service users is 13.8, which has been reached with 72 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
