Ottley House makes the most of pleasant grounds and a versatile interior to provide top quality nursing and residential care, with professionals available round-the-clock and also skilled in care and support for physical disabilities and dementia.

They are proud to be one of the first homes to be accredited as part of Barchester’s 10-60-06 Dementia Care programme, reflecting the enhanced quality of dementia care and improved quality of life experienced by the residents at Ottley House.

My brother and I visited our sister on her 81st birthday.
She was happy and contented to be with us and ate well. Her nurse fed her and popped in a few times to check all okay.
We met with the unit manager and expressed how pleased we are with the care and attention she is receiving

We've been really happy with the care our mother has received at Barchester Ottley House Care Home. The staff are fantastic! All deserve praise (and a pay rise!) Thank you.
Only issue is with a potential urine infection Mum has which seems to be taking a long time to diagnose - GP issue.

I have absolutely no regrets about handing my mother's care to the dementia care unit at Barchester Ottley House Care Home, Shrewsbury. Both the nursing staff and the care assistants were friendly, approachable and conscientious in the way they looked after my mother. As her condition deteriorated,
they altered their approach and kept the family aware as to why they were making these changes.
At all times, the staff did their utmost to make her last days as comfortable as possible. I could not ask for more.

Mum lived at Barchester Ottley House Care Home for over three years and I visited her nearly every day. Mum had been fiercely independent but due to the level of care and compassion shown to her, she came to view Ottley as her home and often described herself as "happy", which is amazing bearing in
mind her health was failing. I came to know the nurses and carers and watched them working collaboratively and with good grace and this created a positive atmosphere in the home. The excellent nurses fought for Mum for investigations, pain relief and review because the GPs were sometimes difficult to pin down. Some of them phoned me after their shift to let me know that Mum had settled when I had been worried. If I ever thought there was an issue (and there were very few) the nurses would listen to me and sort it. The respectful attitude shown by the carers preserved her dignity and individualism and there was much humour. They would chat and laugh with her and comfort her when needed.

Mum settled in very well to life in Barchester Ottley House Care Home. With the care of staff, she has regained some of the weight lost prior to moving into residential care.

I have been very impressed with Barchester Ottley House Care Home. The facilities are excellent, clean and in good repair. The staff are professional, friendly and approachable and always willing to listen to and answer any concerns. My mother has been very happy here and loves the staff and her room.

My auntie was cared for with compassion and kindness throughout her time at the home by each and every member of staff. I have no doubt the level of care given made a difference to her comfort and well-being and also to her longevity. As a family, we will always be grateful to the whole team who afforded

The difference in my mother has been wonderful since she moved into Barchester Ottley House Care Home.
She has returned to her old self, happy, chatty and interested in living again.
Mum celebrated her 93rd birthday in august and the staff made it a special day for her, her room was decorated, a delicious
cake made and staff were fantastic.
We, as a family, recommend Ottley House, the staff are professional, kind and work as a team to care for the residents. Thank you.

My Father has been in Ottley House since April 2024 and following the initial visits, I was very pleased to have found such a lovely care home for him.
Sadly, during the 3 months of him being here, I have noticed a big change in staff, with what I feel to be under-staffing at times. My big upset is
seeing what was a most beautiful garden area being totally neglected, only two years ago this used to be well looked after and a joy to visit and sit out and walk around. Please Barchester, employ a gardener!

Went to see Mum after we had been on holiday - so pleased to see her looking so good and happy. Spent a lovely morning with her in the big lounge, so light and airy, she watched people coming and going, she has dementia. The carers all spoke to her in passing, they knew her name, impressed. Have parents here and was concerned about them moving in. I was surprised at how kind and supportive the staff are, from the nurses, carers, cleaners, kitchen and office staff.
The activities are good and needed particularly by my father who is always busy, the more the better. The food is of a good
standard and choice is good. A bin in the room would be an idea. For my father, in memory lane, try to maintain his independence as long as possible, i.e. shave, trim beard etc. Not living close, I would like a video call set up so I can communicate better. Dad no longer has his phone with him in memory lane.

Our mother's care home is very good indeed. We have trusted them to look after our frail and vulnerable mum since the death of our father, her husband, last year.

Mum is very well looked after, she has her moments and does complain to me occasionally however she does understand her situation for a short time when explaining. The staff all interact with her and are very kind and caring. If we have any issues, the staff are very understanding and usually bend over
backwards to solve.

Hi, my name is Kuda and I am the General Manager here at Ottley House Care Home.


I undertook my nurse training in Zimbabwe and qualified as a registered nurse in 2007. I joined Barchester Healthcare as an overseas nurse in August 2016.


Through dedication and commitment to excellence, I developed through various leadership roles leading up to my current position.


My role as the general manager at Otley House is overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of care, and maintaining regulatory compliance. My approach is centred on creating a nurturing environment where residents feel safe, valued and well cared for. My leadership is characterised by my ability to inspire the team fostering a culture of empathy, respect, and continuous improvement.
