If you care about your loved one/family member, under no means submit them to a stretch at The Mount. Sure, there are outstanding members of staff (not management) but they quickly get fired for making an effort beyond their job. The rooms are appalling and seldom cleaned. The laundry service is a shambles and the activities are few and far between.
Barchester is a national chain and as so, only cares about making money out of your relative. Be prepared in that they charge you for a month even after a resident has departed and they even go so far as to charge for a further week if they sadly pass away.

It might be your first port of call or you may have no alternative but please seek the advice of other families and place yourself in a queue for a local, family-run residential home. There are a number with a fantastic reputation. I have never looked back and my mother is fully settled in her new abode, receiving special treatment and is now treated like one of the family.

My mother has been a resident at The Mount House for the last year. During that time, I have found the care to have been consistently excellent. Every member of staff has been welcoming, friendly and caring. The food quality is also consistently excellent. Even though my mother is confined to bed, the activities coordinator has gone out of her way to involve her where she is able.

Mum has had the most outstanding care whilst at The Mount. The entire staff are always professional and friendly and genuinely cares about Mum and the family. It has been a difficult time for the family, but the staff have shown such care and compassion for Mum and us - nothing was too much trouble. They included Mum in the Carol Sevice in her room; it was so moving and created a beautiful memory for us. We are so grateful to the entire team for Mum's last few days, passing with dignity, pain-free and peace.

My 90-year-old mother has been a nursing care resident at The Mount House for nearly a year. The care has been excellent and the staff superb, as visitors the family and friends are always made to feel welcome. Although she is confined to her bed I would like to particularly mention the 'extra mile' taken to involve her in the home's activities and extra personal care, manicure, hand massage etc. At Christmas, a personalised photographic card was made for relatives which was much appreciated. I take this opportunity to thank a particular member of staff (and all the carers and nurses) for that 'extra mile', it all goes a long way towards making her feel special.

Dad was quite poorly when he arrived at Barchester The Mount House & Severn View Care Home. His medications had been changed again and again in hospital and he was very confused. The staff were marvellous; he got his medications stabilised and supported him to regain his mobility and confidence that he needed in order to return home (with three times a day carriers). Thank you so much for giving dad his independence back.

Admitted Monday 4/9/23 for temporary respite following hospital discharge. Received efficiently and sympathetically. Impressed with the attention to my patient needs.
Stayed until Sunday 10/9/23. Very satisfied with all aspects. All staff were friendly and helpful and appeared competent. Catering very good with attention to particular needs and preferences.
Slight reservation on shower/bath facilities which seemed rather restrictive, but purely adequate for most residents who require assistance.

May need long-term care and would consider the Mount for this although financially would need serious consideration.

We were so worried about Dad going into a care home, but we were put at ease as soon as we entered the home. This is the happiest that we have seen him in a long time. The care that he is receiving is outstanding, the staff are kind, caring and upbeat and nothing is too much trouble for them.
They have also been a great support for the rest of the family, every visit is relaxed and we take great comfort in knowing that Dad is well looked after and happy.

Thank you.

My brother has only been a resident at The Mount House & Severn View Care Home for 6 weeks but I really wanted to write a review to say how wonderfully welcoming everyone has been from the manager and nurses to the admin and housekeeping staff. The nursing care has been excellent. The home is clean and cosy and the food my brother tells me is delicious. We are so grateful for the ongoing care and would highly recommend The Mount House & Severn View Care Home.

My mum was only in the home for a few weeks before she passed away but my experience of visiting Mum was very positive. The care she received was wonderful as was the care they showed me. I can't think of one negative thing to say, everything from cleanliness to kind words, wonderful food and a homely atmosphere were all exceptional. My only wish would have been that Mum could have spent more time there before she passed away, as even though she had Alzheimer's she was happy, chatty and such a good patient. I will miss seeing everybody at the home but will recommend it to everyone I know. Many thanks.

The staff are very caring and the cleaning and maintenance staff go beyond their remit down to the smallest detail. We have been able to take personal things for Mum and have pictures hung and shelves fitted. The catering staff listened and provided the food requested. For Mum's 97th birthday, they made a lovely cake and treated her very well. The cleaning staff do more than just clean, they take care and chat and provide things when needed.

My mother has been very happy and contented since her move into The Mount. The staff are very supportive and friendly. Even when busy, they will listen to concerns and try to find a solution. They have had to deal with a lot of additional responsibilities as a result of COVID and have done this with good humour and resilience. The ambience is very soothing and comfortable.
