Overall Experience
The Cottage Wing has been extremely good at looking after and caring for my partner who, unfortunately, has had a long stay. They are very caring, they listen to what she says/needs. They have very good covid practices in place to safeguard everyone. The meals are well prepared and enjoyable. It is not very pleasant going into a care facility but The Cottage Wing has definitely made it bearable.

You cannot fault them and they were all kind, caring and helpful. The hospital itself was a lovely place to go for treatment.

A lovely hospital - nice wards and marvellous, kind, caring staff on all shifts. I have only one complaint to report, that is the lockers etc. These make a terrible bang when closed, making the patients literally jump out of their skin. I found by putting a thin layer of my handkerchief in the middle, cured the problem. A piece of sticking plaster 1/2 inch wide by 1 inch long will do the job, subject to a monitored test. If proven this could be done in house, simply for a minor cost of first aid type sticking plasters.

Overall Experience
My mom came to The Cottage Wing following a fall and has spent 7 weeks there so far. I am allowed to visit regularly which is great and the staff are very friendly. My mom always looks nice, is clean, has had her hair done and is dressed. She has been well catered for being diabetic and always has a choice of meals. I have been made to feel welcome and am able to talk to the staff when I need to. Her room and facilities are kept to a very high standard. I have been impressed with the level of care.

Denise has been part of the team at Barton Cottage since June 2008. Previous to this Denise was working on a busy ward at Queens Hospital in Burton as a SW. Denise originally started on night duty but has now migrated to days.

Dianne is a long serving member of the team and worked at the Barton Cottage Hospital as TL in charge of the Minor Injuries Unit from 2003. She joined Shaw healthcare in October 2007 working day/nights when the Cottage Hospital closed.

Caroline has worked for Shaw Healthcare since 2018, starting out as a bank TL and is now on permanent nights since April 2020. Caroline has a busy family life with football taking up most of her time with her sons participating in this.

Sharon joined the team at Barton in July 2015 and has previously worked overseas. She works permanent nights and more recently increased her hours covering some day shifts also. She likes to keep her mind busy and never sits back on her laurels.

Karen has been a dedicated full-time Team Leader at Barton Cottage since 2009. Over the years, she has taken on various additional responsibilities, including Acting Deputy Manager, Mental Health Trainer, and Student Nurse Mentor.
