My aunt went into Rider House for respite following a fall at home and breaking her ankle. Despite saying she would never go in a home she decided to stay at Rider where the care, food and activities is 1st class. With all the support of the wonderful staff and manager Amanda she has not had any more falls and is very happy, safe and very care for, she has made a lot of friends and I would have no hesitation in recommending Rider House to anyone.

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback. The staff and I are delighted that your aunt has settled in and is doing so well. It is our pleasure to have her in our care. Amanda

An excellent care home. Staff care genuinely for every resident and do their best for them all. So much care and effort is put into making the premises inside and out, look lovely, with every special occasion celebrated by amazing displays. We have 100% confidence that our mother is looked after and shown respect.

When my mum had a spell in hospital due to a fall a number of nurses recommended Rider House which then prompted us to approach the care team to visit to see for ourselves

I could not recommend Rider House highly enough. After a very bad and deeply upsetting stay in another home,my mother is now looked after amazingly. All the staff are so helpful and caring, and go above and beyond to make sure all my mums needs are met .Now i sleep at night knowing she is being taken care of. The food is prepared by an amazing chef cooking the most delicious meals and she is an excellent baker. Mum loves sweet treats! The management team are clearly focused on providing excellent care and this focus can be seen across all of the homes staff. They all care for the residents needs and are always cheerful and positive in the way they approach my mums needs. Care is first class.

Overall Experience

This was my first experience of respite care. I found the staff treated me - as all the residents - with dignity and respect. As I have one or two dietary needs, the kitchen staff negotiated with me to ensure they were met. All residents felt it was their home - not an institution. The manager was also very approachable. If I ever need residential care, although I'm currently out of area, this is very much the type of home I would wish to go to.

Thank you Joy for your kind words and positive feedback. I will share the feedback with all staff who will be delighted to hear from you. I do hope that you will visit us again in the future but in the meantime do keep in touch. Again many thanks and very best wishes. Amanda

I can't talk highly enough of the Rider House facilities and more importantly the amazing staff. My father John was admitted to Rider House for end-of-life care. He had been in hospital for a month prior. My only regret is I didn't manage to get him out of hospital earlier and into care. The staff are caring, authentic, committed and very warm. Many thanks all for making his final days comfortable.

Rider House is extremely well run and all the staff are lovely, friendly and very caring. They go above and beyond in caring for mum. She feels safe and well looked after, which is all we ask for, but we feel totally comfortable that mum is being looked after and kept busy with activities that have definitely helped with her dementia. Thank you to you all.

Mum was welcomed at Rider House after a dreadful few days at another care home.
Whilst mum was only at Rider House for a short time due to her progression of her illness she was treated with respect and dignity by the whole team.
The team kept mum as comfortable as they could. We were made to feel welcome and were also treated with care and compassion. It was a lovely touch when the staff lined the road as the funeral procession drove past on mum’s final journey.

Thank you to the manager and her wonderful team.

As a family we could not be more impressed with the care mum has received at Rider House. Mum moved from another care home to be closer to us and it was the best decision we ever made. Mum looks the healthiest she has ever been over the last few years, loves the food and put on weight. Lovely home cooked food and cakes and puddings to die for. Mum is beautifully dressed, hair always tidy and nails polished, just like mum was at home. She has made friends with other residents and the lovely staff, especially Amanda who has helped us navigate funding and assessments - she has so much time for everyone - 1st class home.

After a very traumatic stay at another care home, mum was thankfully transferred to Rider. From the very beginning of mums final journey, we were made to feel very welcome and looked after. The kindness and love shown by the manager and all staff was outstanding. Sadly mum died 15 days after her 88 birthday. The staff, although very busy, found time to be kind. They just need to be able to spend a little time to sit and breath and relax with the residents. During mums stay I tried to be with her at lunch times to help as much as I could and saw how the staff were at dinner times which was good. Talking to residents whilst feeding is so important. The manager and all staff need a very big pat on the back for the care and kindness they deliver. They need to keep doing what they do best and treat residents as family. They do, however need another lift for residents upstairs.

Thank you for your review. It was our pleasure to be involved in the care of your Mum and the family. I know it can be busy at times with the one lift but we have listened to feedback and i am pleased to advise that a second lift will feature in our further developments at Rider. I will ensure all...

Amanda BissonJob Title:Home Manager
"I have worked at Rider House since December 2018. During this time, I have seen immense changes at Rider House, supported by the management team and the wonderful, caring staff that Rider has. This ensures that we always strive to be the best we can, providing the love and care that we all work hard to achieve and is expected from our residents, their families, and our supportive community.

I have worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years and have never had second thoughts about my chosen career path. After initially qualifying I worked in general medicine, progressing to oncology, chemotherapy, palliative and EOL care nurse specialist. This career progression enables me to provide the best care we can for all residents regardless of their needs and ill health, ensuring that they are supported to live as well and happy as they deserve. I am constantly seeking to get the best from the staff, but in a manner that recognises their value and worth so that their enthusiasm and genuine care helps us all to achieve our intended aims.”
