My mother has recently passed away at Treetops after being in their care for ha significant period of time with Alzheimer's. I have nothing but praise for the team who have cared for her with dignity and Compassion. Acorn Unit has been mum's home and for her to be cared for here when she reached the end of her life was appropriate. The staff seamlessly were able to transfer their skills from caring with someone with cognitive and challenging behaviour to end of life care which was amazing. The staff ensured Acorn Unit was a place where kindness constant and they showed patience and genuine compassion. They are a group of people I will never forget. Not only did they care for mum they cared for me too.

I attended a DOL's review for my at Treetops. I know my sister's condition can be 'challenging' to say the least and her general health and wellbeing seems to be slowly deteriorating. As we talked, I noticed that my sisters bed clothes were filthy and stained. I pointed it out to the DOL's assessor and a carer who came in, their response was immediate and bedclothes were changed for clean ones. The DOL's assessor had been talking to the nurse about Janice's 'challenging and erratic behaviour' so pointed out that Janice may have removed her Stoma bag (as she sometimes does) the nurse had told her they'd been in, changed her bag and seen to her needs prior to us arriving. Maybe that's what had happened maybe that's where the dirt and stains had come from. My question would be... why wasn't the bedding changed at the same time? I'm not there often enough, but when I am there is always something that has gone unnoticed and just left.

Firstly, I want to say that I have no previous experience of the care system at all. I do however believe that in any organisation it's the people involved that determine its success.
The care assistants, activities, office, domestic, catering and nursing staff are all amazing people... kind, friendly, helpful, smiley and hard working, who often go the extra mile to make life more pleasant for our family. Mum has built good relationships with lots of the staff.
We have been so impressed with the levels of care & compassion displayed, right from my initial phone call to reception, where I was told " Come and see us anytime, just ring the bell". I found this 'open door' approach extremely refreshing after contact with various other settings.
Our involvement with management has been ltd, I see this as a positive as it means there have been no issues.

I was hoping for 'good enough for most of the time' from Tree Tops but my expectations have been exceeded. Thank you everyone!

I would sooner be at home but understood this was not possible. Most staff, especially the day shift have been kind, caring, friendly and treat me with dignity. I enjoy having a laugh with the assistants. I appreciate their efficiency and see how hard the assistants work.

I have nothing but praise for this excellent care home.
The staff are highly skilled professionals, clearly work well together as a team and all the while they manage to do everything with kindness and good humour.
The atmosphere is wonderful, staff and residents alike are smiling and having fun and they are not treated like children!
They tell me in good time if my uncle's personal budget needs a top up and even rang once when he had a blister on his foot!
The daily social media posts are great, as my aunt at home is not online, it means she can be shown photos of her husband and the activities he is enjoying.
Talking of activities: I was blown away to see the volume, variety and quality of what is on offer: snakes and spiders, alpacas, dogs, children, babies, singers, are all regular visitors and Treetops also organises trips out for the residents.

There is knitting, reading, dancing, exercises, the list is endless and is also published each week online for family to see. Well done

Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Dad is settling in well and adjusting to living in a care home, which is bright, clean and nicely decorated. There are plenty of outside spaces to enjoy fresh air in lovely wooded surroundings. Food always smells good and is served in a very tasteful dining room. Professional staff always have a smile for us all.

Overall Experience

My Grandma was a resident at Treetops between 2019-2024 during this time she received residential, Elderly Mentally Infirm and end-of-life care. Throughout this time she experienced excellent high-quality care, provided by staff that worked as a team, and consistently go above and beyond. My Grandma developed skin cancer on her right temple and this developed into a large wound, the staff did an exceptional job of dressing and preventing infection, even when my Grandma's behaviour could be very challenging. My Grandma was a proud independent woman and to watch her dementia take her over was extremely difficult, as a family we have found comfort in knowing she was given the best possible care by staff who genuinely cared. As a family, we felt the staff at Treetops not only cared for my Grandma but for us as a family. Grandma will leave a huge hole in all our lives, but we will be forever grateful to TreeTops for the dignity and compassion provided.

Immediately greeted with friendly smiles and welcome. My husband was in the lounge when I visited on his first day and seemed very relaxed and at home already. He had got from his room to the communal lounge with his Zimmer frame, and some help. I was told that I could visit at any time and that I could join him for a communal meal whenever I wanted for a very small fee. I was given the entry and exit codes.
My younger daughter and I were shown his room and the staff who would be looking after him. We put a suitcase of clothes into a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. We noticed his en suite toilet facilities, his view of the garden and his downstairs room which would make it easier for him to travel around, with help, and his Zimmer frame. We left him with books and papers, his watch and a radio. We intend to bring in a TV which we understood could be easily set up by the maintenance team.

We both thought that Treetops showed a relaxed, friendly attitude to both clients and visitors.

Treetops and all the staff give excellent care to my grandad. He has been a resident since August 2023 ad all his needs are met both day and night. Very happy with the care and attention shown to my husband. He knows all his carers and he talks to all of them. I am pleased with his bedroom and I think he is too. The cleanliness is second to none. The food is excellent and my husband doesn't leave anything at all. We chose the right care home, which is like their home, due to this being a family-run home.

I was really disappointed with the laundry being lost and very much taken to the wrong people. The staff have taken this into hand and there is a vast improvement. I realise it is very hard when residents can wander, including my own husband. The care and attention given to residents is without fault. Thank you to all involved with the running of the home.
