We welcome those in need of nursing, palliative and residential care, including specialist Huntington's and Parkinson's care. Our beautiful period building feels very homely, with original features. Our mature garden is wheelchair friendly. There are huge cedar trees, a gazebo, and outdoor seating with lots of summer flowers. Each room is well decorated, with its own en-suite bathroom and flat screen TV.
I joined Bupa in April 2022 and so far, have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the company, leading the team at Alveston Leys.
I started my career in care as a housekeeper and have since developed my skills, working through a variety of roles until I became the Home Manager for Alveston. I really enjoy looking after and caring for others, as well as providing an open and honest environment. I thrive on the challenges that social care can often exhibit, as well as advocating for my team and residents. It has always been my goal to make a difference in a person’s life for the better, which I feel to be very important in the enhancement of our resident’s wellbeing.
I live with my husband and son just 30 minutes from the home and as a family, we enjoy all things football. I enjoy travelling to see how different cultures live and have a keen eye for a good book!
I am a registered mental health nurse. I have worked in the health and Social care sector for 40 years. I started as a volunteer when I was 16 years old working in hospitals. Since training and qualifying in 1987, I have worked in acute psychiatry, complex mental health, and physical disabilities, to palliative care in the community. I have worked all roles within the setting, including a nurse, deputy manager, general manager, clinical specialist roles, and teaching foundation level up to FE level. Training and specialist knowledge; dementia care, complex mental health and I have completed palliative care and end-of-life care at a degree level, plus Teaching and assessing in clinical practice. I have a professional interest in residents' rights, mental capacity and person-centred care practices.
I moved to England in 2003 from Romania where I was a Theatre Nurse for 11 years. I joined as a Senior Carer and completed a return to practice course then I was promoted to Registered Nurse in 2009 and then Senior Sister in 2017.
I enjoy making a difference to our residents and their families and specialise in palliative and end of life care. Keeping our residents comfortable and happy is very important to me and my role is very rewarding.
At every opportunity i will attend training courses and conferences to continue to develop my skills and knowledge.
I live locally with my husband and 2 children and I enjoy walking, cycling, baking and always have a good book on the go.
I began working in the care sector whilst I was sitting my A Levels. I started as a Health Care Assistant and I found all aspects of care very interesting but in particularly medication and palliative care. Whilst at university I continued to work as a Health Care Assistant and I was promoted to Senior Health Care Assistant. In 2017 I moved to Alveston Leys as a Bank Senior Care Assistant and got very involved with clinical skill. I continued to focus on the profession of care as opposed to teaching and eventually left my daytime role as a school teacher in order to focus solely on caring for others.
In 2022 I applied to The Nursing Associate Programme and was successful. I am now in my second year as a Trainee Nurse Associate with a few years to continue to progress as a Registered Nurse in the future. I thoroughly enjoy my role as no two days are the same. I love the atmosphere at our home and our residents all brighten up my day. I really enjoy supporting others to live a happy and healthy life, as well as leading the team by example. I have a keen interest in medication management and have recently become one of the Medication Champions for Alveston Leys.
I am an auntie to 3 children and they keep me busy out of work and I love watching sport.
I'm Janet, the receptionist here at Alveston Leys. I help and care for residents' families as they visit and assist residents with any daily requests, ensuring they're happy.
I live within walking distance to the home (weather permitting). I have one daughter who now lives in Bristol. In my spare time I love meeting up with her, going to the theatre, reading, keeping fit and socialising with my friends.
I have been working at Alveston Leys since 2014, firstly as a Customer Advisor, then later moved to the role of Administrator. I have had a few different Customer careers but working in Care and at Alveston Leys is where I feel “at home”. I love spending time with the residents when I can.
I live locally with my husband and daughter, who was a “lockdown baby”. I often bring her in to visit the residents which they both enjoy.
I have worked at Bupa for 12 years and have been at Alveston Leys for 2 years in my role of Activity Co-ordinator.
I love my job as an Activity Coordinator, especially being able to make a difference in the well-being of the residents.
I have a passion for films and food and enjoy keeping fit by playing squash and taking part in ultra-challenge charity walks.
I have worked for in hospitality for 37 years. I enjoy working in care services as being able to talk to the residents and find out their likes and dislikes, and then providing this for them is great, as well as the team ethics here at Alveston Leys.
I am a father of 4 boys and we are all football mad! In my spare time I love spending it with them and doing anything football related.
I have worked at Alveston Leys for 20 years. I moved to England in 2004 from Romania to join my wife. Prior to moving here, I was working as an engineer in a foundry. I started at Alveston Leys as a Kitchen Assistant, progressing to Assistant Chef, and 5 years ago I transferred to become the Maintenance Operator.
I enjoy working here as I like to help the residents fix things - even if it's just odd jobs around the home. I love chatting with residents and finding out about their lives.
I live locally to the home with my wife, Dani, and my 2 children. In my spare time I enjoy walking, cooking and watching a good movie!
I started working at Bupa 3 years ago. Previous to this role, I have experience working in hospitality and admin. I enjoy working in care services as I love knowing I'm helping those who require the support.
I live at home with my daughter. In my spare time I enjoy yoga classes, and anything related to psychology & criminology!
