Alveston Leys welcomes both long and short-term residential stays and offers a range of tailored care packages for complex nursing and personal care needs, including Parkinson’s, respite, convalescence and palliative care.

Situated near the village of Tiddington, the Georgian property boasts original features such as large windows and fireplaces and is set within pleasant grounds.

Accommodation offers recently refurbished, tastefully decorated rooms with a mix of single and double bedrooms as well as two self-contained living suites allowing for a more independent lifestyle. All rooms provide en-suite facilities and a 24 hour call system. Bedrooms are fully furnished to an extremely high standard, including; a bed, bedside table, wardrobe, chest of drawers, armchair, flat screen television and a telephone point.

A varied menu of nutritional and appetising meals are served daily.

Residents can enjoy a busy social program of events and activities including arts and crafts, exercises, quizzes and board games. All activities can be tailored to different levels of mobility allowing everyone to join in. There are regular visits to the home from a mobile library and entertainers.

Staff in general are pleasant and appear to work well as a team. Nurses are approachable and thorough in their care. It is a calm and peaceful environment where cleanliness has improved since October.
Staff and residents at Alveston Leys would benefit from an increase in manpower-staff numbers can
be low sometimes. I would describe Alveston Leys as a good nursing home to take care of my mother.

My mum has been in this home for about 8 weeks now. From the minute I walked in to look around on her behalf, I felt confident that this would be the right place. I have not been disappointed. My mum whilst coming to terms with her change of circumstances settled quickly and is happy. She speaks highly
of the staff, nurses and carers, as do I. She makes statements like "there's nothing they won't do for me". As her daughter, I have witnessed this. I have found the staff to be approachable, happy at work and always available if I need to discuss issues that have cropped up.
I have witnessed some really tender caring whilst visiting and joining in activities with my mum.
It's a pity I cannot mention names because there are people in this home who go over and above the call of duty to make sure people are happy and comfortable. I highly recommend this place.

We turned up unannounced to view the care home after our uncle was taken into hospital. Nothing was too much trouble and we were shown around, despite not having made an appointment. The staff were wonderful and so accommodating, acting swiftly to ensure a seamless transition from hospital into your

Alveston Leys Care Home is a well-equipped and well-established nursing home with many of the staff being highly experienced in caring for both residential patients as well as those requiring medical/nursing care. The end-of-life care my wife has received since January has been first-class. I, too,
have experienced respite care and, again, could not have wished for better treatment. Although my wife has been too unwell to participate in any activities, the home goes a long way to ensure that the residents are well catered for in that respect. I have no hesitation in recommending Alveston Leys as a first-class residential home. And it doesn’t smell of boiled cabbage!

Generally, the care staff are very good, health issues are usually followed by doctors/nurses visits.
Cleanliness has improved, although public areas scruffy.
Food is very unsatisfactory, little and repetitive choice. Overcooked tough meats, Frozen vegetables at a time when fresh available readily.
I think the chefs are very inconsistent.

Find the carers so kind and helpful. Very clean, food very good. The care for my mum is so good she feels at home and safe. The gardens and surrounding area is so nice, can walk around village, go to the pub. It feels like your own home, not a care home.

My husband has been here since January. It was a very difficult time for us both. However, the staff have been superb. They have shown nothing but kindness and patience. His room is comfortable, and the food is good. There is plenty of stimulation for the residents with craft groups, cookery, singing,
outings to the pub and walks. The gardens are a joy to sit in and a lovely terrace to socialise. A doctor visits regularly and nurses for specialist care. I can’t praise Alveston Leys enough. Thank you for all your care.

We have found this care home to be welcoming, caring, social and a feeling of warmth and friendliness towards residents, family and friends of the residents. Queries are dealt with pretty promptly and the activities put on are varied and fun. The carers and nursing staff are attentive and keep families
informed. The surroundings are beautiful too and very peaceful, Very pleased with this care home.

Overall I'm very satisfied with the level of care given to Mum and she seems happy too. Definitely noticed an uptick in the level of activities for residents (though Mum can't participate) and all big occasions are marked well. The home is more well-kept than it has been for a while. There is no doubt
staff are stretched and there's still a high turnover at the care level which is a shame. I do sometimes have to chase to get things done like hair washing and nail cutting.

Since my friend has been transferred to Alveston Leys I have seen a fantastic improvement in her physical and mental health. The staff have been welcoming and supportive, understanding and at all times professional. The home is always clean and the staff are polite and very welcoming and supportive,
there are always lots of organised events or outings. I can not fault the home and would have no hesitation in recommending Alveston Leys. I work for the NHS and am happy to share the delight this home brings.

My son has been very badly disabled with a massive stroke. He is unable to do virtually anything for himself but the staff have been so kind and helpful at all times. He will have to spend the rest of his life in care so our family are pleased we have chosen Alveston Leys.

Mum has now open a resident at Alveston Leys for more than six years. The home was very supportive during the covid pandemic and since then as Mum's mobility has decreased and she has needed more support and care.

A few of the staff were very good in the care of my mother but unfortunately the bad outweighs the good. Curtains not being drawn, commode not being emptied, bed not made, room not cleaned, extremely poor laundry service. Sometimes lukewarm and bad quality prepared meals. My mother should have stayed
in respite for four to six weeks but only managed two. Unfortunately, she came out of the home in a far worse condition than she went in. An experience never to be repeated.

My dad received a lovely warm welcome when he initially arrived for a respite stay at Alveston Leys and the staff and management were extremely helpful when it came to arranging a full-time place for him at the home. Dad seems very well cared for (and very well fed!) and the carers and nurses have all
been kind, friendly and respectful.

We welcome those in need of nursing, palliative and residential care, including specialist Huntington's and Parkinson's care. Our beautiful period building feels very homely, with original features. Our mature garden is wheelchair friendly. There are huge cedar trees, a gazebo, and outdoor seating with lots of summer flowers. Each room is well decorated, with its own en-suite bathroom and flat screen TV.

I joined Bupa in April 2022 and so far, have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the company, leading the team at Alveston Leys.


I started my career in care as a housekeeper and have since developed my skills, working through a variety of roles until I became the Home Manager for Alveston. I really enjoy looking after and caring for others, as well as providing an open and honest environment. I thrive on the challenges that social care can often exhibit, as well as advocating for my team and residents. It has always been my goal to make a difference in a person’s life for the better, which I feel to be very important in the enhancement of our resident’s wellbeing.


I live with my husband and son just 30 minutes from the home and as a family, we enjoy all things football. I enjoy travelling to see how different cultures live and have a keen eye for a good book!

I am a registered mental health nurse. I have worked in the health and Social care sector for 40 years. I started as a volunteer when I was 16 years old working in hospitals. Since training and qualifying in 1987, I have worked in acute psychiatry, complex mental health, and physical disabilities, to palliative care in the community. I have worked all roles within the setting, including a nurse, deputy manager, general manager, clinical specialist roles, and teaching foundation level up to FE level. Training and specialist knowledge; dementia care, complex mental health and I have completed palliative care and end-of-life care at a degree level, plus Teaching and assessing in clinical practice. I have a professional interest in residents' rights, mental capacity and person-centred care practices.

Daniela Tudor

Job Title: Senior Sister Joined: 2003

I moved to England in 2003 from Romania where I was a Theatre Nurse for 11 years. I joined as a Senior Carer and completed a return to practice course then I was promoted to Registered Nurse in 2009 and then Senior Sister in 2017.


I enjoy making a difference to our residents and their families and specialise in palliative and end of life care. Keeping our residents comfortable and happy is very important to me and my role is very rewarding.


At every opportunity i will attend training courses and conferences to continue to develop my skills and knowledge.


I live locally with my husband and 2 children and I enjoy walking, cycling, baking and always have a good book on the go.

Laura Shirley

Job Title: Trainee Nurse Associate Joined: 2017

I began working in the care sector whilst I was sitting my A Levels. I started as a Health Care Assistant and I found all aspects of care very interesting but in particularly medication and palliative care. Whilst at university I continued to work as a Health Care Assistant and I was promoted to Senior Health Care Assistant. In 2017 I moved to Alveston Leys as a Bank Senior Care Assistant and got very involved with clinical skill. I continued to focus on the profession of care as opposed to teaching and eventually left my daytime role as a school teacher in order to focus solely on caring for others.


In 2022 I applied to The Nursing Associate Programme and was successful. I am now in my second year as a Trainee Nurse Associate with a few years to continue to progress as a Registered Nurse in the future. I thoroughly enjoy my role as no two days are the same. I love the atmosphere at our home and our residents all brighten up my day. I really enjoy supporting others to live a happy and healthy life, as well as leading the team by example. I have a keen interest in medication management and have recently become one of the Medication Champions for Alveston Leys.


I am an auntie to 3 children and they keep me busy out of work and I love watching sport.

Janet Llewellyn

Job Title: Receptionist Joined: 2020

I'm Janet, the receptionist here at Alveston Leys. I help and care for residents' families as they visit and assist residents with any daily requests, ensuring they're happy.


I live within walking distance to the home (weather permitting). I have one daughter who now lives in Bristol. In my spare time I love meeting up with her, going to the theatre, reading, keeping fit and socialising with my friends.

Hannah Matthews

Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2014

I have been working at Alveston Leys since 2014, firstly as a Customer Advisor, then later moved to the role of Administrator. I have had a few different Customer careers but working in Care and at Alveston Leys is where I feel “at home”. I love spending time with the residents when I can.
I live locally with my husband and daughter, who was a “lockdown baby”. I often bring her in to visit the residents which they both enjoy.

Phil Vickers

Job Title: Senior Activity Coordinator

I have worked at Bupa for 12 years and have been at Alveston Leys for 2 years in my role of Activity Co-ordinator.


I love my job as an Activity Coordinator, especially being able to make a difference in the well-being of the residents.


I have a passion for films and food and enjoy keeping fit by playing squash and taking part in ultra-challenge charity walks.

Mark Brady

I have worked for in hospitality for 37 years. I enjoy working in care services as being able to talk to the residents and find out their likes and dislikes, and then providing this for them is great, as well as the team ethics here at Alveston Leys.


I am a father of 4 boys and we are all football mad! In my spare time I love spending it with them and doing anything football related.

Paul Tudor

Job Title: Maintenance Operator Joined: 2004

I have worked at Alveston Leys for 20 years. I moved to England in 2004 from Romania to join my wife. Prior to moving here, I was working as an engineer in a foundry. I started at Alveston Leys as a Kitchen Assistant, progressing to Assistant Chef, and 5 years ago I transferred to become the Maintenance Operator.


I enjoy working here as I like to help the residents fix things - even if it's just odd jobs around the home. I love chatting with residents and finding out about their lives.


I live locally to the home with my wife, Dani, and my 2 children. In my spare time I enjoy walking, cooking and watching a good movie!

I started working at Bupa 3 years ago. Previous to this role, I have experience working in hospitality and admin. I enjoy working in care services as I love knowing I'm helping those who require the support.


I live at home with my daughter. In my spare time I enjoy yoga classes, and anything related to psychology & criminology!
