Dad seems well looked after and happy. The staff are all very attentive towards the residents and work very hard. Although busy the staff try to spend time with the residents when time allows. The home is well-appointed, the lounge being a particularly nice place to sit and chat. The garden areas are
nice to sit in in the better weather and are kept tidy with lots of flowers. Everywhere is generally clean and tidy with cleaning being carried out on an almost constant basis with only very occasional lapses when there have been crumbs left after a snack. Dad enjoys the activities and has made a group of friends who are usually sat together.

The care home manager and staff made my mother feel at home, one of the family of residents from the beginning. This has made her transition to a new way of life much easier than expected and put our family's minds at ease. My mother has made new friends, including the carers and often says she is being
pampered especially when she has her hair and nails done in the salon. As her sister observed "she seems comfortable where she is and looked really well." We are forever grateful.
Reply from Christina Samudzi, Home Manager at Cedar LodgeThank you so much for your lovely recommendation, I have shared it with the whole team, and they were all smiles. Thank you for putting your mum into our care, and the one thing that struck us most is the way the family have involved Mum in the decision-making, to allow her to make informed choices. We worked together to allow Mum to go back home for the weekend to determine if she could cope alone at home and she made a conscious decision to stay with us at Cedar Lodge. We would like to thank you for the support and care you give to Mum; Mum has made great friends and we have seen her support others which is of great help. We will continue to endeavour to deliver person-centred care to all residents under our care and Mum is one of them.

At the beginning of February Dad became a resident here moving from Cedar Lawn and during every step of the way, the staff have been welcoming, caring and informative with respect to Dad and helping to make what was a somewhat difficult transition into a really happy and comfortable one. I cannot really
thank the manager and every one in the team enough because the help they have given me and my mum with this move has genuinely made a difference in us all getting used to new things together and finding out about the home and other residents. Dad is enjoying his meals, and the company of others and is secure in the knowledge that he is safe and settled which means such a lot in this stage of his life. Thank you for making February 2024 such a positive one.

I cannot thank all the wonderful staff enough for the amount of care, support and compassion given to my father during the 10 months he was there.
Nothing was too much trouble he was encouraged to join in the activities which he enjoyed very much and the church service each Thursday.
I was kept updated
at all times with regard to any health concerns and felt Dad could never have been in a better place to spend the last 10 months of his life.
I never ever wanted my father to go into care but the experience of him being at Cedar Lodge has given me faith, knowing that they genuinely do care for all residents. It's not an easy job and at times very challenging but they shone through.
Thank you to all at Cedar Lodge, I feel like I have lost a family as well as a father.

We are indebted to all the beautiful staff at Cedar Lodge Care Home who looked after our dear dad with so much love and care in the last two years of his life. He couldn’t have wished for such an amazing team who showed him dignity, respect and kindness at all times. It really felt like one big family
and we will be eternally grateful. Under challenging conditions, the manager has led her team by example.
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Cedar Lodge for anyone who is looking for a caring, loving environment for their loved one.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
With love.

I must congratulate Cedar Lodge on their excellent care they have given my mother, it was not an easy decision to put her into full-time care and we took our time to choose a home we both like. Cedar Lodge is literally home from home and I cannot fault it. The staff are always friendly and always happy
to help with minor problems to make Mum feel comfortable and happy. Mum was so pleased to have her photo taken for me with her birthday cake so we could share that moment. Keep doing a fantastic job.
Reply from Christina Samudzi, Home Manager at Cedar LodgeThank you for your lovely and kind words of appreciation. At Cedar Lodge, every moment matters and we will continue to make a difference and ensuring that the best care is given to loved ones. Thank you for choosing us and supporting us massively in the care of Mum. There is nothing too small for you to ask us for. I have shared your appreciation with the staff and they were very humbled and uplifted. Mum did enjoy her birthday so much that it had a positive effect on her days to come. Putting the nice smile on her face was a great achievement. We appreciate you and your family, for loving Mum, we could not do this without you.

All staff whatever level were always smiling and very obliging.
I felt very comfortable. The care staff could not do enough for me. I was nursing a knee operation so they were helpful in the early days. Late afternoon they came with a tray of sandwiches - many containing fish of sorts. Not to my palette.
I asked for ham sandwiches and these were prepared by the chef with my name on them.
Two non-members of staff called with good conversation.
Nurses were collaborative - after waking me at 10.00, I asked for evening pills at 8.00 they were happy to do this.

I first contacted Cedar Lodge Care Home early evening one Friday as a previous care home had let my dad down for respite care. The manager could not have been more helpful, I felt swept up and actually cared for and the care Dad then received was exemplary. He didn't just receive care for his knee replacement
and delirium but, as he got better, the spiritual care he received helped him grieve for his wife who he lost nine months ago.
I was also impressed with all the online/digital forms I could complete as many still require handwritten ones! I could not recommend Cedar Lodge and their staff enough.
Reply from Christina Samudzi, Home Manager at Cedar LodgeWe are so glad you found us helpful. We always try to respond to residents' and their family's needs, not just physical but emotional and spiritual too, all of which are an intrinsic part of MHA's values. For your part, your comprehensive information on the pre-admission assessment gave us the opportunity to deliver the best care we could for your father. Throughout his time at Cedar Lodge, you and your brother's compassionate and unfailing support for your father guided and helped us to deliver the care he needed. Your father's positive, humorous presence at Cedar Lodge during the short time he was with us brought joy to residents and staff alike. We all have fond memories of him.

My mum spent the last two weeks of her life at Cedar Lodge Care Home in March of this year and I could not have asked for a better place.
I honestly cannot rate the staff who cared for her highly enough. The team are the most kind, compassionate and considerate group of individuals I have ever encountered.
The care, concern and respect that my mum, and I (as the only relative), received was truly exceptional. I was constantly kept well-informed of her condition and consulted with regard to every important aspect of her care.
I will be forever grateful to the manager and her staff for making my mum's final days ever so peaceful and comfortable.
Having had relatives in other nursing homes in the past I can genuinely state that Cedar Lodge is outstanding in all areas.
Thank you Cedar Lodge for giving me such special memories of my final hours with my mum.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.756)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.756) out of 10 for Cedar Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.756 for Cedar Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (226 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 295 Ratings = 4.756
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Lodge is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
