Nestled in the beautiful countryside between Henley-in-Arden and Stratford-upon-Avon, MHA Cedar Lodge provides specialist dementia, nursing and residential care for 47 residents. The home is surrounded by scenic landscapes and also within easy reach of local attractions such as Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and the tranquil River Avon. Residents enjoy a wide range of activities, including arts and crafts, armchair exercises, baking, and lively quizzes.

My father spent the last year of his life at Cedar Lodge. I cannot praise this home highly enough. The home is very clean and homely and the food excellent. The management run the home very effectively and with great care for each resident. All the staff we have come across, whatever their role, have
been kind, considerate and helpful. There are regular events, entertainments and outings organised which residents can participate in as they choose. Family members are always welcomed to visit at any time.
Sadly, my father died recently. His end of life care was exemplary and the staff helped me and the rest of the family through a difficult time.

My dearest friend moved into Cedar Lodge in August of this year and was made welcome from day one, all the staff are so caring and attentive to her needs and truly do go above and beyond every day to make her feel happy and contented, the food is amazing and she has regained her appetite which is so
lovely to see.

My mother in law has been with Cedar Lodge just a few weeks but the improvement in her general well being is amazing. She is like a different person than she was a short time ago. She is smiling and interacting with other residents and is a joy to see. We are extremely glad that she is now here.

Dad has lived with dementia for several years and up until recently has been cared for by my mum at home... not always easy. He has been in two other care homes since the beginning of 2018 before finally settling at Cedar Lodge - hopefully, the place he will be able to call his forever home. Whilst
its early days for him here, so far we have been shown nothing but support and high quality, friendly care. For the first time in years, mum has been able to have a 'day off' from visiting dad, as she, at last, feels he is somewhere where he is truly well looked after. The staff are kind and always have a smile and he is encouraged to be involved in the music therapy, which he loves. He has also been hugely supported by the chaplain which is so important to both mum and dad. So far, so good!! This care home really does feel like 'home'.

My great grandma moved to Cedar Lodge in July 2018, on the day she arrived she was met by warm, welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for her and still to this day the staff go above and beyond to make sure that my great grandma is happy and content. I can't praise the staff enough for their care and
devotion.

I visit Cedar Lodge at least 3 times a week. I am always greeted with a smile from admin, always asked if I need anything. The home is so homely and cosy, very clean, the food is always amazing. The time to get to know my relative and what they like, always trips out and activities.

My in-laws moved to Cedar Lodge around 10 weeks ago and I just cannot recommend this home enough. They genuinely care about the residents and go the extra mile and enabled my in-laws ( a 91 year old and 86 year old) to renew their vows on the day of the Royal Wedding on site. Staff came in on their
day off, cake was baked (They have been married 67 years!) There were tears etc. Words aren't enough for gratitude.

Superb, friendly home. They genuinely try to make it feel like a home. Staff are considerate and always try to help.

It is very challenging to place someone you love in such a degree of care, but at Cedar Lodge, you feel the decision was correct and will help my father manage his slide into loss

of limb use, loss of facilities. Where we only have death in the future, they help us bring laughter and humanity.

I went thoroughly and discussed the current care plan and proposed changes. Mum is receiving excellent care and I am very satisfied with the quality of staff 24/7.
Despite mums advanced dementia she is always calm and well cared for.
Well done Cedar Lodge I am very grateful for her excellent care
which means I have no worries that she will be treated with dignity as she approaches 104 years.

When my mother-in-law came to Stratford, she spent a few weeks in another quality nursing home. We changed to MHA because it seemed similarly modern and clean, efficiently run and the bedroom was more spacious. However, we soon discovered that the atmosphere in MHA was quite different. It is a home
where my mother-in-law was at ease. The staff have become friends as well as excellent carers. By comparison, the other nursing home felt more a business first and then a care home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.756)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.756) out of 10 for Cedar Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.756 for Cedar Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (226 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 295 Ratings = 4.756
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Lodge is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
