Fantastic and attentive care of my father, fully supportive and also kind and engaging. From name places at the dinner table, seemingly endless tea coffee and biscuits, to services like taking him to the dentist or meeting all medical needs, the Galanos team are really amazing.

Thank you so much for your kind review, this is our resident's home so we aim to make sure that all their needs are accommodated and their expectations exceeded, in order for them to live their best lives here with us; that includes liberal quantities of tea and homemade cake!

I can't fault the care my brother-in-law is receiving at Poppy Lodge, all of the staff are lovely, friendly and caring. Nothing is ever too much trouble, they always have time to chat and are so patient.
His mobility has improved enormously because he's encouraged to get up and get involved, rather than being left to just sit in his chair.
He's also put on a bit of weight and always looks clean and tidy now, not something that happened when he was living on his own.

Although he didn't want to go into a home he now says he wishes he'd come to Galanos House ages ago, you can't say better than that.

Overall, Galanos provides the best possible care for my father. Care staff are excellent, and there is a wide range of activities to keep him entertained, including trips out to the theatre, garden centres and local attractions.

My wife continues to receive the best of care and attention. The positive and welcoming nature of all the staff makes life for her the best it can be in the circumstances she is now in. She is beautifully turned out each day and despite severe disability is encouraged to partake in activities. She thoroughly enjoys her very well-prepared food and is well-supplied with drinks throughout the day. One has an overall impression of a staff who enjoy their work which is

infectious overall.

Reply from Lucy Westland, Business Manager at Galanos House

It is so important that our residents do not lose their sense of self-identity, this can manifest itself in their appearance, how they have their hair, styles they like to wear and make-up they could not be without, similarly being able to carry on and participate in activities that may have been a...

I have 100% confidence my mother will be cared for with respect, fondness and humour which is important to her. Family visits with all her great-grandchildren are welcomed and we are never made to feel in the way.
She is stimulated and listened to.

The activities are excellent and artwork materials wonderful. We are extremely grateful to have been accommodated.

Galanos House is a fantastic home, they cater for all needs in a very professional and friendly manner, every single resident is made to feel at home and treated with compassion and dignity, it truly is the most wonderful 'forever home'. It is perfect.

Reply from Lucy Westland, Business Manager at Galanos House

Our ethos is we as staff all come to work in our resident's home, so we don't have that corporate or clinical feel, we very much aspire to create a life-enhancing and fulfilling environment for all of our residents to thrive. Thank you for your kind words, we really do appreciate them.

Our mum went to Galanos House a little over two years ago after a bad experience. She has been impeccably cared for in a lovely room and the staff all treat her (and us) with respect, friendliness and compassion. She has just turned 100 years old and looks amazing, which is all down to the care given by the home.

My mother has been a resident for 2 and a half years and I have never been to a home that comes close to the quality of this one. The facilities and activities available are truly wonderful. Singers, musicians and entertainers attend most weeks. Staff are without exception always cheerful, fun, friendly and treat all the residents with such kindness and compassion. I have total confidence in the home and know that they are doing everything in their power to make Mum's life as comfortable and fulfilling as possible.

Unfortunately, my brother needed sensitive care for his Parkinson's dementia, after incurring an accident whilst living alone he was admitted to hospital.
After an assessment by the team from Galanos House he was deemed suitable for a placement, the transition and care provided from inception going forward is nothing short of a dream.
Galanos House ought to receive open accolades from all care providers, from all the staff to volunteer supporters.
My brother did not want to go into a care home, we had struggled between our family members for 4 years to look after him in his own residency.
All our and more importantly his fears were put to rest immediately, the praise and care provided all these employees give is commendable to the human race.

Service with aplomb = a massive thankyou from our family.

Galanos House is an example to all in the care sector of how a care home could and should be run. The care my mother receives is outstanding. She is clearly well cared for, always dressed well and clearly content. The staff-to-resident ratio is very high and it's obvious my mother has a very good, trusting relationship with the staff. There are always activities taking place, and the residents are strongly encouraged to spend their days in the communal areas rather than in their rooms. The staff are always welcoming and professional.

Prior to moving to Galanos House my mother was in a different care home and the difference in her cleanliness, the number of minor accidents and her general happiness is a world apart.

Whenever I expectantly turn up to visit my brother, he is always freshly dressed, shaven and groomed. Staff regularly pop in and check if he would like a drink or needs anything. They are always friendly, cheerful and attentive, calling him by his first name.

That is lovely to hear, we do encourage families to visit whenever they would like. Life can be so busy it is important that you feel able to pop by when you get a moment. My mother has been in the home for 21.5 years and at all times her care has been excellent. There are a variety of activities which the residents are encouraged to attend but they are free to make their choice. The food is varied and of a high standard. The staff do a wonderful job maintaining a cheerful outlook sometimes in difficult circumstances. Any need for medical treatment has been dealt with quickly.
The community hub attached to the home is a great asset, we go there regularly for coffee and again the staff are excellent.

My mother chose to go to Galanos as she knew it had a very good reputation she has not been disappointed.

We are thrilled to hear that you are able to share such positive experiences in this review. Our Community hub has been a great asset and gives families an opportunity to enjoy coffee and cake, delicious lunches or afternoon teas either with their families during a visit or before or after, a lovely welcoming environment. My mother was loved and nursed for 7 long years at Galanos and passed away this year. My father is now in Galanos and has been for some months now, he is extremely happy and feels so well cared for; his words are that it is the best decision he ever made to move there, the staff are the very best you could dream to have caring for him 24/7. He is treated with so much respect, love and dignity. He says that the time passes so quickly because there is always so much to do. He loves the meals and the variety. He couldn't wish to be anywhere better and we feel blessed that he is so well cared for.

The care given to our father who has Alzheimer's is excellent and he is treated with a lot of love and dignity. When visiting we are always made to feel welcome and the staff are very happy to chat with us and Dad and provide updates. Dad says the food is excellent and there are always various activities for the residents to get involved with if they wish. The social media page is a great way of keeping in touch and keeping up to date with what is happening on a day-to-day basis.
