All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Mum came as an emergency placement and they were very accommodating. They listened to any concerns and did their best to sort out issues quickly and efficiently. I could definitely recommend the home.

My mother came to Bankwood for some respite care and was very low on arrival. The staff were very understanding and kind. They did all they could to help her to adjust including facilitating family visits as much as possible. On all occasions, we have met with courtesy and care from all the staff. My mother's meals have all smelt delicious and were well presented.

My mother really enjoyed making a daffodil and making new friends to talk to. My mother said, "The staff are really good and look after me well".

Mum is getting into a routine now though she still likes being in her room best. She has really enjoyed going out and meeting other people and lots of ladies to chat too. The staff are really lovely, committed to caring for mum and making her transition from the hospital much easier.

It's difficult to write a full review as due to Covid restrictions visitors are not currently allowed to visit residents in their rooms/communal areas.

Bankwood is well managed and staff are always respectful to my aunt and keep me fully informed of any changes. My aunt is doing extremely well which is a testament to the care she receives. Thankyou all.

My wife was very ill with Dementia, Parkinson's etc. Since being in Bankwood, she has improved and is better than when she was in hospital. Personal care is excellent.

My mother only had a couple of weeks at Bankwood before she became seriously ill and had to remain in hospital thereafter. However, I was completely confident that Bankwood was the most capable home in the area for nursing capabilities, and had a pleasing environment. The only criticism expressed by my mother was that routine activities i.e. meals, medicines, ablutions all came too close together.

Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Bankwood Care Home

Thank you for the lovely feedback received in relation to Bankwood Care Home. We are sorry that Mum felt that some of the routine activities within the service were conducted closely together. We aim to ensure all our residents are supported in line with their personal preferences and wishes and...

I have spoken at length to my aunt and overall she says she is happy - but from living on her own, making her own decisions and doing her own thing it is a big change. She enjoys the food and likes roast beef, cake and chocolate the most. She also enjoys company and joins in on the activities as much as she can.

Sadly my mum passed away at Bankwood on 28th November 2020 after a short stay with terminal cancer. The staff were excellent in all aspects of their caring for mum who was not necessarily a willing resident, we could not have asked for more. We were treated with empathy and compassion and given every support which was so appreciated at such a difficult and sad time. Covid-19 has had such a detrimental effect on visiting last year yet the staff kept us well informed and made us feel confident and welcome despite the very tough circumstances, not least in the week mum passed when Covid took its toll on staff and residents in the home. Thank you, to the manager and all the team at Bankwood.

I have found the standard of care in this nursing home to be deeply impressive, from the kitchen and laundry staff to his immediate carers, to the management. Between them, they create a caring and empathetic community. Well done I say.

My experience with the home has been good communication about my relatives care. My relative seems extremely happy. His quote is - I couldn't have chosen a better place for him to stay. And under the circumstances of Covid-19, I wasn't able to view the home or meet the staff face to face, so this was difficult for myself about my worries, but I don't have any!

I have found all the staff to be helpful and caring and to find the time to make me feel better when I get a little down. I cannot say much about the food as it is soft because of swallowing.

Our mother was a resident for 5 1/2 years before her death. The care she received was brilliant, she loved the other residents but most importantly she loved the staff and they loved her. You never want to see your parents in a ‘home’ but if we had the chance to do it again we would choose Bankwood, our mum was very happy there.

My mother in law was a resident, until very recently, for about 6 months. This was from just before the lockdown for Covid-19. I cannot praise the staff highly enough from the manager down. They have had to cope with some very difficult circumstances on top of their usual workload and have done a fantastic job. The care my mother in law received was always respectful and caring and nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation recommending Bankwood to anyone looking for nursing care.
