Bankwood care home is a warm and welcoming environment offering residential and nursing care. Set in the scenic Amber Valley in Derbyshire, the home offers stunning valley views which can be enjoyed from the landscaped garden and patio area.

The ladies I look after were brought here unexpectedly. Bankwood were very accommodating, made them feel very welcome. The care they receive is second to none. Staff are friendly, the home is clean and tidy and doesn't smell of urine.

Dad had a hospital appointment, I was made aware by Bankwood staff (activity coordinator) who also arranged transport for the occasion - dad is unable to walk and therefore requires a wheelchair. All arrangements were made without any involvement from me. I can only praise all the staff at Bankwood
but in particular, the activities co-ordinator who has been exceptional on every occasion.

Came to see home on Friday afternoon. Loved place. Cosy/friendly. Manager put at out ease. Very impressed. All staff smile and care. Just the place mum needs. Moved in Monday.
So good - transfer kind and careful. Mum needs just what this home gives Tlc. Early days but 10 out of 10.

Mum has recently died at the age of 95, after a long and interesting life.


Everyone at Bankwood was so kind to Mum: humouring her foibles, popping in to her room to see her with cheerful smiles and encouraging words. The nursing care and physical care were excellent. Mum was always kept clean,

with her clothes and bedding being changed regularly. We never had to worry that her medication would not be given, or that an infection or illness would not be spotted. Once she could no longer walk, we were impressed that she was still encouraged to go and socialise in the conservatory or to see visiting entertainers, even though that meant that two people had to hoist her from the bed to the chair or to the wheelchair, which we witnessed them cheerfully doing.


In her final illness, when Mum became fearful or anxious, staff helped to overcome her fears. They took great trouble to make tempting meals, to feed her and encourage her to eat.


We would certainly recommend Bankwood.

My mum and sister had to move into Bankwood Care Home as an emergency care due to a fire at their home. I've been very impressed by the whole organisation, assistance and service that has been provided.

The care has been very good with staff being very attentive and competent, however, the building itself takes some getting used to. When my mother was ill, they were very professional and they kept me fully informed. We had fun of Christmas and New Years Day.

In the twelve months that I have visited my auntie at Bankwood, I have never witnessed anything other than excellent care and devotion from the staff to all residents. Nothing is too much trouble which includes looking after visitors as well as the residents.

My father passed away on Saturday the 7th of January. The care he received has been wonderful throughout his residence since May 2015.
From the accommodation, staff, manager and activities organised to the excellent food, organised outings and wonderful scenery, everything has been first class. Staff
are always available and their communication and kindness is overwhelming. I would recommend Bankwood without reservation.

Grandad spent the last 3weeks off his life at Bankwood Care Home, at a time we as a family we were heartbroken accepting that we as a family were no longer able to care for grandad at home, the dignity all at Bankwood showed our family so much support and compassion and more importantly you gave our
loved one the care and respecting the dignity he deserved in his final few weeks of life..words could never describe just how grateful we all are to each and every single member of the team at Bankwood Care Home, you are all doing an amazing job keep up the hard work..thank you so much for everything x

We were very impressed with the care my father received and the dedication of all the staff. They treat the residents with the utmost care and concern for their wellbeing, both mental and physical. We felt my father was in a safe, secure environment, being closely monitored, by day and night. The
care manager is a lovely person and genuinely cares for each of her residents and her example is followed by every member of her staff. Bankwood never seems like an institution and is very much a home-from-home. Visitors are welcomed and encouraged to join in the many activities arranged for the residents. The nursing care my father received was excellent. He was kept clean, with fresh clothing each day. The staff are very friendly and were genuinely upset when my father died. Their caring, sympathetic attitude towards his family, was much appreciated at such a difficult and sad time for us. I cannot praise the manager and staff highly enough for the excellent care he received in his last weeks of life.

Bankwood Care Home is an excellent care home where the staff are all very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Nothing is ever too much trouble and any questions are always answered courteously. Bankwood Care Home is always clean and tidy and the only criticism is the "lift" which breaks
and groans! I would certainly recommend Bankwood as a very caring home where everyone appears to be well looked after.

A number if Church members from Duffield Baptist Church conduct a monthly Christian worship service supported by the coordinator. The home is always very well presented and staff are generally cooperative.

I have been visiting the home for about 12 years. I always meet the staff who are friendly, kind to the residents and really seem to care. In all those years I have seen the very best that a nursing home can provide.
If I had a relative who needed to be nursed I would definitely choose Bankwood Care

My aunt was in Bankwood Care Home for just a month before she died in early October. She was really very poorly and clearly wanted to be at home which was impossible. The staff at Bankwood Care Home took real care of her, treated her with affection, nursed her professionally and assisted her until her
death.

Always a lovely welcome by all staff when visiting my mum. Cups of tea offered regularly during a visit! Rooms lovely, food excellent and cooked to personal requirements with plenty of choice. Very clean and fresh environment with plenty of activities if required or quiet time if preferred for mum.
All staff are very friendly, nursing care was excellent and any change in my mum was communicated to me. Mum's end of life was dealt with in a very loving, caring manner. Mum and our family/friends couldn't have wished for better.

Home position was ideal. Lovely,friendly, compassionate and understanding staff, not only of our mother, but also friends and relatives too. All mums needs were met. Whenever I went to see mum she said how lovely it was there. Nothing was too much trouble. From start to the end, from morning papers
to bed time. From one shift to another, the service provided at Bankwood was 24/7 and 110% service was given. Thank you very much Bankwood.

Job Title: Home Manager

“I believe that kind care means finding compassion and understanding for someone’s situation, whilst maintaining your own boundaries and respecting your own needs.”
As a Registered Nurse, Izzie has gained over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at Bankwood for a number of years, Izzie closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Bankwood.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Izzie remarked: “I just love being able to share my life and experiences with other people.”
