Dad was here for nearly 6 years. The care that he was given was exceptional. All the staff from the handyman and laundry staff to the nurses were so kind, not only to Dad but to us as a family. When Dad died I felt I had lost many friends too. All the staff work so hard. Thank you.
As he deteriorated and then eventually needed end of life care, he was looked after extremely well.
The liaison with the local doctors and the home was very good which provided peace of mind for us. Thank you.
My mother was in for a short period while recovering from an operation but made many new friends.
I am so pleased we chose this care home for mum in the last years of her life.
I have always found the staff friendly and on-the-ball. They are constantly assessing a resident's needs with medical and social and make sure these are met. I have been visiting the home for over 3 years and in all that time, I have never once had any reason to believe that my cousin is receiving anything but the best care possible.
My Mum is happy, comfortable and settled and that makes my family happy. Staff are good here and that has given us our mother-daughter relationship back. My Mum has made a friend, they get on well. I have been able to sleep over with my Mum to comfort her and I am welcome at any time.
The staff are unfailingly welcoming, always make us a drink.
The home manager is outstanding in her knowledge of our friend and in the fact that she is very 'present' in the home.
Our friend is very happy, has no complaints whatsoever and is always well dressed.
It is a pleasure visiting at Bankwood.
The home is well managed and clean with friendly caring staff. Although the circumstances of my aunt's departure from hospital to Bankwood were stressful and distressing the home made the whole process very straightforward. She was comfortable and at peace in her short time in the home.
I would like to thank the manager and all her staff for the excellent care and comfort they gave to my friend during her stay at Bankwood Care Home. As her dementia has got worse they could not provide the care social services said she needed. I have been so grateful to Bankwood Care Home for their care and consideration.
This month was to be her last and she died peacefully in the cosy room she loved with the manager at her bedside holding her hand.
A wonderful way for her to go.
Thank you for all the care and love she received.
My mother has been a resident at Bankwood Care Home for a year now and I certainly rate the home as excellent in all areas of her care. All the staff show a very positive understanding and professional attitude to providing care and treat individuals with both the dignity and respect that they deserve. The home provides a very clean, fresh and pleasant environment with excellent food and drinks, comfortable rooms and extensive facilities throughout. Events and activities are organised regularly to involve the residents and provide interests for them. Overall, Bankwood Care Home is managed very well indeed and seems committed to delivering the best care possible to its residents. This gives me peace of mind.
My mother was a resident at Bankwood for over two and a half years. She was very happy, very well cared for - thanks to the quality of the staff and the home manager. Sadly mum passed away peacefully at the end of December. I think my thank you to the staff says it all:
"How do I thank a group of people without missing a single person out? This is to each and every one of you.
How do I thank you all from the depth of my heart for the care, physical support, genuine affection and consideration you showed to my late mother.
Thank you just seems so lacking yet that is what I feel.
A genuine, deep felt appreciation from me, on behalf of my mother, the family and equally important – on behalf of all the past and current residents at ‘Bankwood’.
Losing a loved one is very hard, particularly your Mother, but knowing she was cared for so well whilst she lived at Bankwood by you, her 'extended family', really does help.
Thank you so, so very much".
The ladies I look after were brought here unexpectedly. Bankwood were very accommodating, made them feel very welcome. The care they receive is second to none. Staff are friendly, the home is clean and tidy and doesn't smell of urine.
Dad had a hospital appointment, I was made aware by Bankwood staff (activity coordinator) who also arranged transport for the occasion - dad is unable to walk and therefore requires a wheelchair. All arrangements were made without any involvement from me. I can only praise all the staff at Bankwood but in particular, the activities co-ordinator who has been exceptional on every occasion.
Very caring staff. Peace of mind for our family that dad is safe and well looked after.
So good - transfer kind and careful. Mum needs just what this home gives Tlc. Early days but 10 out of 10.
The building - My first thoughts no good but after the care received I think it is very good and very well organised.
Mum has recently died at the age of 95, after a long and interesting life.
Everyone at Bankwood was so kind to Mum: humouring her foibles, popping in to her room to see her with cheerful smiles and encouraging words. The nursing care and physical care were excellent. Mum was always kept clean, with her clothes and bedding being changed regularly. We never had to worry that her medication would not be given, or that an infection or illness would not be spotted. Once she could no longer walk, we were impressed that she was still encouraged to go and socialise in the conservatory or to see visiting entertainers, even though that meant that two people had to hoist her from the bed to the chair or to the wheelchair, which we witnessed them cheerfully doing.
In her final illness, when Mum became fearful or anxious, staff helped to overcome her fears. They took great trouble to make tempting meals, to feed her and encourage her to eat.
We would certainly recommend Bankwood.
My mum and sister had to move into Bankwood Care Home as an emergency care due to a fire at their home. I've been very impressed by the whole organisation, assistance and service that has been provided.
The care has been very good with staff being very attentive and competent, however, the building itself takes some getting used to. When my mother was ill, they were very professional and they kept me fully informed. We had fun of Christmas and New Years Day.
