Reviews

8.9 The Meadows has a Review Score of 8.9 (8.860)

The Review Score of 8.9 (maximum of 10) for The Meadows is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 16 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Meadows in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.503 for The Meadows is calculated as follows: ( (107 Excellents x 5) + (71 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 189 Ratings = 4.503

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.357 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Meadows is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 14 positive Reviews (70 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 14 Target = 0.357

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Dad's care has been excellent from the first day 2 years ago up to today. The staff are very caring, compassionate, friendly, and professional.
They pass information on about dad. He settled in really well and I wouldn't want him anywhere else.

Samantha Palmer, HR Manager at The Meadows responded to this review on 13 Oct 2017:

Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear that your father's care has been excellent and that he has settled in so well.

My husband was admitted for respite care but later changed for permanent care but unfortunately died 2 weeks later, he was treated with care and compassion if only for that short time.

Although my father was only a resident for four days prior to his death, his care was excellent. Staff were excellent and treated my father, mother and I with dignity and respect. They were very supportive in the final hours. The home was clean and tidy, but as a large establishment, a little noisy at times, though unusually so. Overall, very good - we felt well looked after.

I have visited my father twice a day for the last four years and every day I am amazed at the kindness, compassion and understanding of the staff.
Through many don't realise it, they are truly dedicated and they need to know this.

The care in this home is second to none and I would recommend it to anyone. From the moment you walk through the doors you are welcomed by friendly caring staff in all departments. My mother sadly died in the home on Friday 3rd February 2017 and the care and compassion showed to my mother and our family will stay with us forever. We made friends at this home and we will never forget them. They have a fantastic team and we cannot fault their care in any way.

I found the home always very clean and tidy. Residents always dressed well. The food was adequate. I couldn't complain about any of the staff who were attentive and very caring. The gardens were very nice and well tended.

The care and compassion the staff and management showed our mother during her stay of one year and seven months was very good. The members of staff always made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them to do anything. The whole experience is very difficult to let a loved one go into care however we feel as though we chose the right place as the care and dignity our mother received put our minds at rest. A big thank you to the The Meadows for how they looked after our mother in her last years.

Although my husband was a resident for only almost 4 months before he passed away, his care was faultless! All of the staff were attentive, very friendly, very caring and always cheerful. They never stopped working and were always alert and watchful.
The cleanliness - both personally and hygienically of both my husbands needs and his room and surroundings was outstanding. They also cared about me and my well-being. The nursing staff were the same too, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, tempting and nourishing. I would not hesitate to recommend 'The Meadows' and will continue to visit occasionally to see 'my friends'.

My mother has recently become a resident at this care home as she has Alzheimer's and is not able to be cared for at home. Since living at The Meadows her mood, eating pattern and general well being has improved and she is much happier. The staff are very kind and considerate and caring well for my mum. The staff are also approachable by visitors and family of the resident.

My mum passed away recently. She had been a resident in Rose Court, the nursing side of the Meadows Care Home. Although she had only been at the Care Home for two months, all the staff had taken her to their hearts and she was beautifully cared for in a sympathetic and dignified way. The end, when it came, could not have been managed better and the staff's care and attention both to myself and my mum is beyond words. I will always be grateful to them for making her passing as peaceful as possible and for helping me through a difficult time.

My mum was only in just over a week before Christmas for palliative care, but in that short time she was always cared for with dignity and we could visit day or night and were always made to feel welcome by all the staff.

The care home was clean, tidy and well kept. The bedrooms are well presented and the beds comfortable. The toilets are always clean. The staff are superb. They are friendly, caring and react promptly and efficiently when needed. They leave one feeling reassured that one's relative is being well cared for.

My aunt became a resident here and I can say with my hand on my heart that should I have to go into a nursing home The Meadows would be the home I would choose. I have informed my children of this. There is always a carer and a nurse wherever you are, they are always checking in on residents and also asked me how I was. You can tell each and everyone of the staff including the office staff, chef and maintenance guys all care and do so by showing their respect for the elderly as if they were their own family members. I cannot say enough about The Meadows.

I brought my sister from Wales to be near me. My daughter checked out others but could not fault The Meadows, so I brought her here. Since then I have had to move her from the residential side to nursing, although the staff are good my sister kept falling. I was called out at 6.30am as she had broken her nose. Five times in one week she fell. Since I moved her not one fall. The staff and management in the nursing side are worth their weight in gold. Every resident is treated with respect. I go in every day so tend to notice things but even the maintenance men treat them with respect. You have amazing staff in there that don't forget to laugh which in the resident's live means a lot. Go on, give them a rise, they deserve it xxx
