The Old Vicarage is a family-run, award-winning care home providing affordable quality care in Clay Cross, Derbyshire.

The friendly, well-trained team ensures high standards of residential and dementia care in a comfortable, caring and compassionate environment.

Resident happiness and well-being is at the heart of the home and dedicated activity coordinators provide a daily fun, engaging and stimulating social programme designed to encourage residents to lead a fulfilled, happy and enriched life.

Dementia care is supported with sensory areas, reminiscence activities and memory boxes. A minibus means residents frequently get out and about on day trips to places of local interest.

Set within almost two acres, beautifully converted and including a modern extension, the Old Vicarage has a range of large, comfortable, mostly en-suite bedrooms and spacious communal lounges.

What a fantastic care home, nothing is too much trouble. The staff are fantastic, always there for visitors and residents. The home is very clean and tidy. We made a good choice for the care of my dad.

Thank you. Dad is getting respite care - with a view to permanent residency care.
From the initial phone consultation, I felt confident that dad would be part of a welcoming, caring, professional, responsive, respectful and inclusive team.
The staff treat residents with dignity as individuals and
really listen and engage with them.
Dad has Alzheimer’s and mixed vascular dementia.
In the short time dad has been there I have seen his personality returning, and his sense of humour and vitality. That is I think a direct consequence of all staff, their knowledge and understanding of dementia Alzheimer’s and their warm kind hearts.
They should be proud and know they are appreciated by us.

Cannot recommend The Old Vicarage highly enough. Mum is a different person from when she went in. She is happy and I know the enrichment activities the home provides are helping her to have a really good quality of life. Today we attended an Easter event where a lot of thought and care had been put
in. Individual interests are catered for, and residents are listened to. The home is bright and cheerful, staff are professional and caring.

My mum had two weeks respite. I visited 4 times and every time raised concerns about her legs swelling and the leaking after the first week. District Nurses were sent for. Her legs were never raised high enough to help with the swelling and her support socks were not put on her legs at the start of
her stay. This is basic care which I thought you should receive when paying over a £1000 a week? Now she is home after 3 days her legs have stopped leaking and her legs are back to normal. District nurses have discharged her. Please think twice when choosing this care home.

Moved my mum here from another care home which I was unhappy with. The Old Vicarage is a massive improvement with a full activity programme and excellent care. My mum now looks clean and well dressed for the first time in three months, she has participated in more activities in two weeks than she did
sat in a chair sleeping over three months in a previous place. Clean home and rooms with a personal touch.

My dad has been in The Old Vicarage for nearly a year now. He is settled and very happy and made loads of new friends. The management and staff are excellent, very professional, friendly and kind. The home is bright and clean with lovely rooms and gardens. There is always a good selection of activities
and trips out which my dad particularly loves. I would definitely recommend the home to anyone and would like to thank all the amazing staff who work there.

The Old Vicarage has looked after my mum for two years. They have been excellent and Mum has really settled well. The carers really do care, as does the management. I cannot fault anything and am very glad we chose here for Mum.

The new management and staff have been excellent to my mum. Nothing is too much trouble. Unpacking new items for Mum's bedroom that were put up straight away by maintenance. If Mum doesn't eat her meals, alternatives are given until she eats and this is wonderful. Her clothes are now labelled up very
well, ironed and nicely washed. Laundry has improved so much and we are very grateful. As of October 2022, we are very happy with the service provided to my mum.

My beloved father passed away in November 2021, he had been a resident at the Old Vicarage Care Home for nearly 4 years. During those 4 years, a lot of the staff got to know my father well and they genuinely cared for him. I would like to thank our new manageress for the compassion and respect she gave
my father and myself. A big thank you as well to all the staff that cared for him.

The Old Vicarage has been excellent with the provision of care for my mother. Their commitment from assessment to welcoming her and attention to detail has been wonderful, particularly at such difficult times. It is particularly helpful when telephoning or visiting that all staff are very knowledgable
about Mum and her needs and this is very impressive. The administrative staff were so helpful and efficient in processing the necessary information required and giving me advice and answering any questions I had.
The Old Vicarage is impressive and welcoming, the staff are committed and very caring. The activities and social occasions are so interesting and valuable to everyone. The photographs are lovely - to see everyone enjoying the huge range of activities. Well done to all the staff - this is a superb residence.

The Old Vicarage is a very professionally run care home, the manager is very attentive and understands the needs of all the residents and will always go above and beyond her duties. The staff are all very friendly and caring and nothing is too much trouble for any of them. They are all very hardworking
and are very attentive to the needs of all of the residents. The activity programme is very well organised and always filled with new ideas and there is always something for everyone to engage in. I visit the home regularly and I am always made very welcome and always kept up to date. It's great to see happy residents, knowing also they are in safe hands. Thank you, to all management and staff for making it a lovely place to be for the residents.

Everyone at the home is very caring to my mum. Staff are helpful and kind. The social media is good, which I enjoy following for seeing all the wonderful activities you do with the residents, especially whilst we are not able to visit in person, and it is nice that I have seen my mum in photos. I felt very at ease thought the pandemic as I new my nan would be being highly looked after. The staff are amazing, and it is a lovely care home. The activities the staff do with the resident are very enjoyable. Very clean inside the home.

I’m really happy with the love, dignity and care my mum received during the two years she lived at The Old Vicarage care home.
Mum was more contented living there than I had seen her for quite some time.
I live in the USA but could rest knowing that Mum had everything she needed and was well looked
after. The staff are really friendly and kept me updated through email and phone calls. The home is clean and well maintained, and the homemade food looked good.
