From the moment mum moved into Bowood 6 months ago, the 24 hours care team were so amazing. They were kind, patient and genuinely cared for her. They all had the ability to make her feel safe and happy, which was the most important thing to us. It meant when we visited we could relax and enjoy our time
with her. It was the end of life care she received which really meant the most to us. The care, dignity and respect she was shown went above and beyond what we could have hoped for. They couldn't do enough for us either and our memories of what is the most difficult time are so special due to the way we were all treated. The whole team of people who work there are really special and always make time for you.
Reply from Michelle Chambers, Admissions Manager at Bowood Court Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. We are truly honoured that you trusted us with your mum's care during such an important time.
It means a great deal to hear that our team were able to make your mum feel safe, comfortable and happy, and that you were able to relax and focus on spending precious time with her when you visited. Providing compassionate, dignified end-of-life care is something we care deeply about, and your kind words will mean so much to the whole Bowood team.

My mum has spent her last 6 months living very happily at Bowood. Staff have all been exceptional, so friendly & welcoming - real family atmosphere and very homely.
Mum recently died & had end of life care at Bowood. We could not believe how amazing all the staff were. Mum was treated with the upmost
care & respect, she died peacefully & we were able to be with her the entire time. The care Mum & we received was first class & very genuine. Thank you all.
Reply from Michelle Chambers, Admissions Manager at Bowood Court Care HomeThank you for sharing such kind and touching words about your mum's time at Bowood.
We feel truly privileged to have cared for your mum during her final months and are so pleased to hear that she felt happy, comfortable and at home with us. The care, love and support shown to mum during her last 6 months stay was truly outstanding. There is a genuine warmth throughout the whole team. It was an incredibly difficult decision for us to move mum into care due to her progressive dementia and frailty. Within weeks she was showing signs of improvement,
and enjoying her life again. It was a pleasure to visit her, get to know her carers and other residents - you become part of a big family. Most importantly, mums end of life care was calm, peaceful, dignified and respectful. Both the day and night teams did their upmost to ensure that mum was as comfortable as possible. They also supported us with the same level of care. As mum left Bowood for the very last time, all the staff gathered to pay their respects - incredibly moving and a moment which will stay with my forever. Sincerely, thank you all for making mums last 6 months so good.

We are truly honoured that you entrusted us with your mum's care during such an important and emotional time. Moving a loved one into care is never an easy decision, and it means a great deal to know that you felt supported and reassured throughout her stay with us.
Your kind words about the warmth, compassion and dedication of our team will be shared with all our staff, both day and night teams, who work so hard to ensure every resident receives care that is not only professional but deeply personal. It is wonderful to hear that your mum was able to rediscover enjoyment in daily life and that you felt welcomed as part of our Bowood family - this is exactly the environment we strive to create.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum moved into Chetwynd House in 2024, and settled in right away.
The rooms are lovely with an en-suite, and as care home fees go, Chetwynd is reasonably priced.
The carers are absolutely amazing, treating the residents with dignity and respect, and also providing humour to add a bit of laughter to
the day. Nothing is too much trouble and I can't praise them enough.
Chetwynd also has an amazing activities team who engage the residents in fun games daily and organise various events with live entertainment throughout the year.
The office and reception staff are very open and friendly, working all hours to ensure the best care is in place for the residents and any special care needs are met. Again, nothing is too much trouble.
The staff at Chetwynd do genuinely care about their residents.
Mum is very happy there, and I have peace of mind knowing she is happy and well cared for.
A huge thank you to all the staff at Chetwynd for everything you do to keep mum safe and happy.
Reply from Michelle Chambers, Admissions Manager at Chetwynd HouseThank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review.

Your lovely words about our carers, activities team, and office and reception staff will be shared with everyone. They all work so hard to create a warm, supportive, and engaging environment, and it's wonderful to know their dedication is making such a positive difference.
Most importantly, we're so pleased that you have peace of mind knowing your mum is safe, well cared for, and happy. That is always our greatest priority.

My mum has now been at Kiwi House, Derby for over 2 years and I am very impressed with the standard of care she had received from housekeeping through to management. As mum's care needs have increased both she and the family have been supported through those changes. Staff are all well trained in dementia
and the building is well designed so it looks like a 4 star hotel but feels like a home. Residents are encouraged to keep the skills they have through well planned individual care and activities. Despite her dementia mum regularly tells us she enjoys living at Kiwi House and feels safe there.

Our first impression of The Old Vicarage was wow! What a lovely airy place it is. Welcomed by very friendly staff, clean and tidy and happy and relaxed atmosphere. Uncle had been living alone for many yrs we felt that @ 96 years old he needed some help. We couldn't have chosen better for him. He's come
out of his shell and he mixes with the other guests, (we call them guests) Its just like a luxury hotel, staff are wonderful, very attentive and efficient on all fronts. Uncle calls The Old Vicarage his home, we are so glad we chose to bring him here and so is he. Thank you for everything, we appreciate all you do.

Both of my parents have been residents at Kiwi House for 18 months now, and I am delighted with the flexibility shown by the management and senior caregivers of the home. This flexibility has allowed them to stay together despite one needing memory care and one not. The rooms are lovely and spacious
with room for their personal effects. The caregivers are unfailingly friendly and pleasant with big smiles. They always greet residents by their first names. My parents love the little garden with the path around it. There are many activities for them to join in if they want to, and a special celebration with a singer included "their" chosen songs because it was their anniversary. It seems as if management and caregivers really do know each individual's needs and situation and are responsive and supportive towards family members if there are any issues or questions.
