My mum has veen staying at The Old Vicarage since December 2025. The home is warm, welcoming and spotlessly clean. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble, the food is good quality and my mums room is light, bright and airy, any issues are resolved quickly and efficiently and the communication
is always forth coming and appropriate. Bronwyn, ellis and kacy are really caring. I am always made to feel welcome and part of The Vicarage family! I hav found every member of staff to be compassionate, hard working and dedicated to make the residents life happy and to feel safe, in a place they can call home.

Our first impression of The Old Vicarage was wow! What a lovely airy place it is. Welcomed by very friendly staff, clean and tidy and happy and relaxed atmosphere. Uncle had been living alone for many yrs we felt that @ 96 years old he needed some help. We couldn't have chosen better for him. He's come
out of his shell and he mixes with the other guests, (we call them guests) Its just like a luxury hotel, staff are wonderful, very attentive and efficient on all fronts. Uncle calls The Old Vicarage his home, we are so glad we chose to bring him here and so is he. Thank you for everything, we appreciate all you do.
Reply from Michelle Chambers, Admissions Manager at The Old VicarageThank you so much for taking the time to share such a lovely review. Your kind words about our team, the atmosphere, and the care provided are truly appreciated and will be shared with the staff, who work very hard to make The Old Vicarage a welcoming and supportive place to live. We're honoured that you entrusted us with your uncle's care and are so pleased that both he and your family are happy with your choice.

Both of my parents have been residents at Kiwi House for 18 months now, and I am delighted with the flexibility shown by the management and senior caregivers of the home. This flexibility has allowed them to stay together despite one needing memory care and one not. The rooms are lovely and spacious
with room for their personal effects. The caregivers are unfailingly friendly and pleasant with big smiles. They always greet residents by their first names. My parents love the little garden with the path around it. There are many activities for them to join in if they want to, and a special celebration with a singer included "their" chosen songs because it was their anniversary. It seems as if management and caregivers really do know each individual's needs and situation and are responsive and supportive towards family members if there are any issues or questions.

Mum was happy here and very well cared for. The staff were very attentive and had her best interests at heart when caring for her. They kept me up-to-date with any changes and always sought my opinion before making changes to her care plan. Her room was comfortable and tidy. Medical intervention was
requested promptly when required and I was informed at every stage. I want to thank all the staff for their care and couldn't have wished for a better environment for my mum to see out her days.

Everyone very concerned to do their best for the residents. Sometimes- eg meals, staff change over pressure on staff. At mealtimes residents sometimes overwhelmed by food/drink etc.

On 5th July Kiwi House held 'Kiwi Fest', a day festival of music and entertainment for the residents, and their family and friends. What a fantastic event. The music and entertainment were excellent and there was glitter stands, food stalls as well as singing and dancing. The garden was decorated with
streamers and balloons and the patio turned into a stage. It was fantastic because Kiwi provided us with such a happy relaxed environment to share fun times with our loved ones. I am sure an amazing amount of effort has gone into preparing and delivering the day, top marks! As well as this event, over the past 2 months Mum has had trips out to a riding school for afternoon tea and Newstead Abbey for a picnic, again lovely activities she has really enjoyed. All the staff we deal with are so helpful, kind and caring. I would recommend Kiwi House to others who may be looking for a care home that both cares and is a home.

Having made my first review in September 2023 as my mum began her stay at The Old Vicarage, I'm sadly making my final review as mum has now passed away.

I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their dedication and compassion in mum's final weeks. What I failed to realise that this care and compassion

isn't just for the resident but encompasses the whole family. I'm in total awe of these amazing people and the work they do. This isn't
a job to them but a vocation.

Anyone considering a care home for a loved one should have no reservations in choosing The Old Vicarge.

Reply from Maree Leadbeater, Marketing Manager at The Old VicarageThank you so much for taking the time to share such kind words during what must be a very difficult time. It was an honour to care for your mum, and we're truly grateful that you felt supported as a family too. We are so grateful for the care and affection our mum received from the amazing team at the Old Vicarage. She lived there for the last two years of her life as her Alzheimer's worsened and she needed more and more support. From day one, we saw a high level of professionalism from themanager, and the
rest of the team, but on top of good training, we saw good people who genuinely care for those living there. This care extended to us too, from helping us deal with the worry of having a parent move into a care home to ensuring we were supported (and had tea & biscuits!) as our mum reached the end of her life.
Reply from Maree Leadbeater, Marketing Manager at The Old VicarageThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. We're so glad you felt the warmth, compassion, and support from our team - it means everything to us. Your mum will be fondly remembered, and we're grateful to have shared those final years with her and with you.

A truly superb care home with wonderful staff. The manager and her team are so attentive, caring and professional. The rooms are good and well-cleaned. Dad has dementia and he is well looked after. We are always informed on any status and kept informed of everything. The staff from all departments really
do work together as a team, which is reflected in the care that all residents receive. There are a lot of activities and days out for the residents and a lovely garden to be in weather permitting.

Douglas Court take the Care Home description as it should be...it is a HOME, and they CARE. While there are many homes with more luxurious and expensive surroundings, furnishings etc. When we first called in at Douglas Court, we felt that this was the place, because it had a wonderful atmosphere. Both
my parents were here, until my mum died in April '23, and my dad stayed here until he 'left us' in April 25. The staff have been amazing, and very quickly became 'family'. I can't imagine he would have been happier in any other home (and I have been in quite a few others ).
Well done to all the staff for a truly excellent job!
