Spencer Grove has recently been rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC – February 2020. The home provides unique facilities with the very best in comfort and care in a stimulating environment. Spencer Grove provides nursing and residential care and offers both long-term and short-term (respite) care.

All bedrooms offer en-suite facilities (some including wet room shower) and can be furnished to suit the needs of the residents. Spencer Grove also has residential 'Care Suites' - offering all the benefits of residential care but contained within a beautifully appointed apartment, most with stunning, elevated views of the surrounding landscape.

For those with a love of the great outdoors the beautiful south-facing rooftop gardens provide stunning views across the Derbyshire countryside and offer a wonderful place to relax.

But the heart of Spencer Grove is its people. Staff receive extensive training so that they can deliver the best service to residents. Many have NVQ Level 2 diplomas in health and social care and also receive specialist training in end-of-life and dementia care.

Their activity co-ordinators work alongside residents to design a varied programme of activities including armchair exercise classes, painting and crafts and pampering days. Spencer Grove Care Home has an onsite hair salon and twice-weekly visits from a local hairdresser. The home also has a chiropodist who visits every eight weeks.

I am very happy with the care and attention that the staff at Spencer Grove give to the residents. I am very happy to recommend Spencer Grove as an excellent care home. The staff are all very friendly and treat the residents in a happy, friendly and caring manner.

Spencer Grove Care Home is a lovely clean, warm and welcoming place to visit. The staff are all friendly people who have time not just for the residents but the family members as well, they keep you well informed of all the activities they have been doing with the residents.

The home is very well-appointed. All staff including but not limited to - nursing, cleaners, kitchen, medical, office, and maintenance are friendly, polite, respectful, caring, and friendly. The home is always clean and tidy. The food looks good and smells good and is obviously enjoyed by the residents.
The staff put a lot of time and effort into enriching the lives of the residents. The home has a full calendar of activities for the enjoyment of residents, their families, and friends. There are strong links with the local community, with many individuals/organisation

Since the end of August 2024, my wife has been a permanent resident of Spencer Grove Care Home following a year of regular respite stays.
I visit regularly and am always impressed by the cleanliness of the home and by the helpful and friendly members of staff, from the management team, all the nursing
team and all the carers.

Mum has always been happy at Spencer Grove Care Home. She settled in really well and was warmly welcomed.
The staff are always friendly and approachable and there is plenty of entertainment from both outside and from internal staff.
The building is very clean and well decorated with modern facilities,
including a garden area and a recently renovated pub/communal area.
I would definitely recommend Spencer Grove to anyone who is having to put an elderly relative into care.

I instantly get a homely feeling when entering the building. I have visited my friend at the home for many months and the care, compassion and friendliness shown to my friend is excellent. As a visitor, I'm always made more than welcome and often have a laugh with the wonderful staff.

Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and always lovely seasonal decorations.
Lots of activities and patient interaction, lots of crafts equipment and games, the meals look really good and they have even opened a pub for the residents.

Why I picked August it's my Aunty's birthday and the kitchen staff made her a birthday cake, wonderful people. The carers are brilliant with all the residents man or lady. The office staff always say hello when I come through the door and if I need to know anything they will tell me. The nurses are
totally amazing with the residents if I am worried about my Aunty they put my mind at rest. If I have missed anyone I am sorry.

Outstanding care offered to my grandmother, we are made to feel very welcomed by all members of the staff. Very clean home and amazing activities are offered to the residents throughout the day. Home-cooked meals that look and smell beautiful.

My mum was placed into Spencer Grove in September, the room she resides in meets all her needs and is very homely, she has settled in very well.
The management are always available if anything needs discussing, All caregivers are very attentive to all resident's needs.
Overall they all go above and

The care and attention given to our mother was exceptional. Towards the end, Mum had a lot of additional needs, but she was always treated with kindness and courtesy, as were we when we visited. This applies to all the staff; nursing, catering, domestic, management, and admin.

I have a friend on the residential floor who I visit. I'm so impressed by the staff that I come across, they are so friendly, helpful, kind and caring and it's great to see. My friend always looks so happy and comfortable, the food always smells good and her room is so lovely.

My husband went to Spencer Grove for end-of-life care. All the staff could not have done more to make his last weeks any better. My mum came to Spencer Grove for palliative care. This time was both difficult and precious. The care, love and compassion was remarkable. The wonderful staff helped guide us through and my Mum was very happy and content and full of gratitude. We were able to go home each night and know Mum was safe
and loved. My dad was looked after with equal care. Thank you to all, our Spencer Grove family.

Spencer Grove was amazing. The way the home operated was superb. The staff were excellent and professional at all times. They took a weight off my shoulders and I could visit at any time.
During Mum's end-of-life care, they looked after her superbly and this helped me immensely to get through this
difficult time. Nothing was too much for them.
Would highly recommend it from the experience I had with my mum there.

Samantha began her career at the Milford Care group as a kitchen assistant when she was just 13. In 2018, Milford Care invested in Samantha’s future with the company by sponsoring her to follow her dream of becoming a Nurse Associate. After 3000 hours of placement and exams to become a registered nurse, Samatha passed with flying colours and continued her career in the care home.


After becoming a nurse, Samantha decided to put herself forward for the role of Spencer Grove Home Manager. With her high levels of commitment, charisma, and unwavering positivity, Samantha achieved the role. Combined with her leadership experience, management skills, and 13 years of learning Milford Care inside out, it became apparent she was the perfect fit.
