Spencer Grove has recently been rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC – February 2020. The home provides unique facilities with the very best in comfort and care in a stimulating environment. Spencer Grove provides nursing and residential care and offers both long-term and short-term (respite) care.

All bedrooms offer en-suite facilities (some including wet room shower) and can be furnished to suit the needs of the residents. Spencer Grove also has residential 'Care Suites' - offering all the benefits of residential care but contained within a beautifully appointed apartment, most with stunning, elevated views of the surrounding landscape.

For those with a love of the great outdoors the beautiful south-facing rooftop gardens provide stunning views across the Derbyshire countryside and offer a wonderful place to relax.

But the heart of Spencer Grove is its people. Staff receive extensive training so that they can deliver the best service to residents. Many have NVQ Level 2 diplomas in health and social care and also receive specialist training in end-of-life and dementia care.

Their activity co-ordinators work alongside residents to design a varied programme of activities including armchair exercise classes, painting and crafts and pampering days. Spencer Grove Care Home has an onsite hair salon and twice-weekly visits from a local hairdresser. The home also has a chiropodist who visits every eight weeks.

I visit at least once a week, with other family members visiting on other days. The welcome we received was lovely, warm and genuine. The staff are always pleasant and helpful, providing updates on Mum's requirements, moods, needs, etc. Mum herself is now well-settled into her home and is in a routine
and enjoys food, events, gardening, etc.

The care staff at Spencer Grove Care Home are fantastic. They treat their residents with both dignity and respect. In addition, they work closely with other agencies to ensure that the care the residents receive is of a high standard and make efforts to build connections with relatives. Senior carers
should be given credit for their knowledge of every resident and the professional manner in which they conduct themselves.

My mother is a resident of Spencer Grove Care Home for the last five months. I have always found the staff very professional and caring and only pleased to answer any concerns I may have, which have been minimal. They keep me informed about my mother's well-being. The activities are varied, and everyone
is encouraged to take part. The food is excellent, and my mother says that no matter what time of day or night, she can get a cup of tea. Keep up the good work - very pleased with all her care.

Since arriving at Spencer Grove, my father has improved with his mobility and general well-being. He even praises the staff for looking after him. Says they all talk to him. He has good days and bad days, and the staff care for him depending on his needs at the time. I have witnessed the care given
to other people, which have no mobility whatsoever; they are treated with dignity and compassion. Very dedicated staff. The entertainment team are excellent, making everyone smile.

Spencer Grove was the one. They have not disappointed. All of the staff have been kind and caring, and have really welcomed my grandmother into the home and made her feel comfortable and settled. The Covid pandemic has been an awfully upsetting time and put a huge strain on families and care homes, but finally, the home is open as normal, which is fantastic! We have been waiting so long for this! The staff have been welcoming and makes all visitors feel comfortable and at home. The staff make a real effort to entertain the residents and keep them smiling!

Mum had a bad fall at home in August 2020, fortunately, the carer found her and called the ambulance; she went to the hospital where they told us she had a massive break in her leg, an open fracture of her ankle and another stroke! She already had Dementia and other medical problems, so we were very
worried about her and realised she would have to be looked after 24/7. My sister had already looked at nursing homes, knowing it would be inevitable in the future. She contacted the manager, and she said they could accommodate her. It was heartbreaking for me, my sister and my brother as it was lockdown, and we couldn't go with her, and she was in isolation not knowing where she was? It has been a very hard time for everyone, residents, relatives, and all the care workers. I must say, we are very grateful for everything that Spencer Grove has done to make my mum's day-to-day life as happy as possible. She is looked after very well, and it has made a massive difference in our lives.

Lovely place with amazing, friendly staff. My dad moved to Spencer Grove for end-of-life care in February 2022, and he spent eight weeks there before passing away. We were all made to feel welcome and part of the Spencer Grove family from day one. Nothing was ever too much trouble. My dad was welcomed
into their care and treated like family by the staff. All staff also looked after and supported us as a family, especially my mum, for which we are truly grateful. The staff gave us friendship, comfort, support and love in our family's hours of need. The staff treated my dad with the utmost respect and dignity. We can't thank every member of staff enough; they are all truly amazing. I highly recommend Spencer Grove.

After a difficult start for my mum at Spencer Grove, due to Covid and the difficulties this caused for residents and staff, I can only be thankful for the amazing, committed, caring staff that saw my mum through that distressing time. Always cheerful and helpful whenever I called, helped me enormously
in coming to terms with the fact that my mum needed the care that I could no longer provide. She is now settling in well and receiving the love and attention that she needs and deserves. It is a difficult decision to make when handing over the life of a loved one, but I couldn't be happier with the love, care and personal attention that my mum gets from every single member of staff. Mum is partially sighted, but the staff found her a lovely, lightroom, very clean and warm. Always a warm welcome when we visit, and nice to see all the activities that are now developing again after a terrible time for staff and residents. Spencer Grove has become part of our family. You all deserve a medal!

My mother has been in Spencer Grove since the beginning of December 2021, she took a while to settle in, but with lots of patience and care from the dedicated staff on the residential ward where she is suffering from dementia, she slowly got used to the situation. Unfortunately, since my mother has
been in there, we have been restricted by Covid rules, which have been very difficult for us, and also I imagine the staff, but they’ve done everything they can to reassure myself and my family about Mum and keep us updated with videos on their Facebook page. They always have time to speak to me about Mum and give me reassurance at this very difficult time.

Our mother has been at Spencer Grove for nearly 2-year. All this happened in the horrendous Covid virus outbreak. Mum has vascular dementia, and this has obviously had a massive impact on her mental health with the visiting restrictions. The care staff have been very sympathetic and caring to Mum, and
though it's been such a difficult time for Spencer Grove, the management has given us time to talk about our worries and have tried their best to assure us that Mum is being cared for, which ultimately is paramount. Some of the care staff who look after Mum have become special people to us and could not praise them enough; they allow us to feel comfortable that Mum is being looked after in a dignified and caring manner. The management has gone out of their way to help to elevate our feelings of guilt, and we can sleep a little easier now. We honestly wouldn’t want Mum anywhere else than at Spencer Grove.

My father has been at Spencer Grove since October 2019. Initial impressions were good, the home offering (along with the usual expected facilities) a large/comfortable dayroom and garden terrace. Furthermore, the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming, Dad immediately felt at home and settled in
quickly. With us both having got to know the staff more over the past couple of years, we have been so appreciative of their caring approach, hard work and dedication, particularly through these difficult times of the pandemic. Nothing is too much trouble with a visiting room established and Skype or similar calls available when visiting isn’t possible. The leadership from the head of the residential care floor is excellent; she is an extremely hardworking and dedicated professional, and her team reflects this. They always have a friendly word when phoning and keep you fully up to date with how your relative is doing. Highly recommended.

My mum and dad both lived at Spencer Grove Care Home from April 2015. Mum passed away in the home in March 2019, and Dad sadly had to spend his last days in hospital last September rather than being able to be with our awesome Spencer Grove Family. Nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the staff,
not only were they caring for Mum and Dad, but they cared for our family too. Nothing was too much trouble. Spencer Grove was our home from home, and we could not have hoped for better care, love and affection. It was a pleasure over the years to see so many of the staff team grow and develop into incredibly compassionate and caring individuals. Choosing a care home and entrusting the care of your loved ones into their hands is a massive decision, at no time did we doubt that we had made the right decision. We could not have felt more at ease and confident that we could walk away and know that Mum and Dad were in the best hands possible. Thank you for always being there to support us all.

The care I received at Spencer Grove was first class, from the moment I arrived, when I was greeted by two very helpful and caring members of staff, to the day I went home after a week's respite. The Covid precautions were second to none during my stay, and I felt completely safe and assured. The carers
were all very attentive and efficient, and I very much enjoyed talking to them. The roof garden was my favourite attraction - and it was accessible. Outstanding care.

I have been very pleased with the levels of care afforded to my parents whilst resident in the home. The carers have always displayed a positive attitude, and in the main nothing seems to be too much trouble. My father is increasing, failing health at present, but the staff do everything in their power
